2. It’s not real footy

It produced pride from the decimated Eagles and a large sigh of relief from the Kangaroos. All the while, we have to accept that this is how footy is in 2022. After being forced to make 14 changes from last week’s team to this week’s, the Eagles had to make do. In 2020, the AFL launched its festival of footy, where 20 games were played in 20 days to combat Covid in a format which was hurried but fair. In 2022, it’s luck of the draw, and the Eagles were unlucky. It’s farcical enough when 14 changes are needed because of injury and Covid, but how far does integrity plummet if/when a club is hit by injury and Covid to 25 players? Postponed games are surely less compromised and less affected by integrity of competition. Luckily for the Kangaroos, they took the four points, although they were far from commanding.

2. Nick of time for Roos

It was the best game of Nick Larkey’s career. The Roo booted 6.3 and took seven marks, three contested. He played on first-gamer Callum Jamieson, then champion-defender Jeremy McGoverm and then top-up player Angus Dewar. Two of those six goals came on the veteran star McGovern. He was the highlight in a mediocre team performance and, if push came to shove, the Roos would’ve probably lost the match without him. Little wonder coach David Noble wasn’t overly ecstatic in the box at the final siren.

AFL Round 2: North Melbourne v West Coast news, scores, stats

West Coast was forced to make 14 changes but the Covid-ravaged Eagles pushed North Melbourne all the way. Roos coach David Noble bristled in the post-game presser.

North Melbourne coach David Noble has bristled at suggestions a 15-point final margin was a below-par result against Covid-ravaged West Coast.
The Eagles made a staggering 14 changes to their side that lost to Gold Coast last week, with 12 of those forced as a result of players entering Covid protocols. Five of West Coast’s inclusions were Covid top-up players, and three were debutants.
The Kangaroos needed a six-goal bag from young gun Nick Larkey to just get over the line.
“I think that’s a bit disrespectful to some of the players that have come in for the opposition, to be honest,” Noble said.
“(Aaron) Black has won a Sandover Medal, played over 200 (state league) games, he’s a very good player.
“I don’t know why there’s an expectation we should win this game by X amount.
“I think they still had six premiership players, they still had some dangerous forwards, they still had a couple of guys down back that intercept the ball pretty well.”

Carey v Buddy
As good as Buddy is, its not even worth discussing.
Carey is miles ahead.
Carey better player - I've never seen a player with his ability to consistently rise to the occasion and rip other teams apart.

Buddy more successful career. (premierships, games played, 1000 goals etc)

I agree and I hope I am not just being biased. Others just couldn't do the things he could. Buddy is a different type of player in my opinion.

Scott players will be looking forward to the 2025 15 year portfolio anniversary.

The drinks and laughs will flow as they all reminisce about on-selling the subdivision rights to 190 acres in Mernda back in 2010.

Where is the outcry when teams are missing 8-10 best 22 players through injury? (Like us consistently over the last 5-6 years.). Some of those outs, at least half of them, were shitmen replaced with other shitmen.

w***ers.

Brad ****ed our list but I actually like how the guy went out of his way to help young men manage their money so that even on an average AFL salary they may never have to work after retiring from footy. I'm genuinely thankful for that.

Whately thinking Franklin’s 1000 sits comfortably along side Makybe Diva winning 3 Melbourne Cups and Warne taking 700.

Gerard, one of those things isn’t like the others. I’ll give you a hint, it’s the one that’s happened five times previously.

And Robbo, fans run on the field in a variety of sports all over the world you complete turnip.

Reckon Robbo is off the pace after his health concerns last year.

Tarryn Thomas missed out on a goal of the year nomination.

There were some spectacular goals this week, but I thought a length of field goal in under 15 seconds was worthy of a nomination.
