It’s certainly tricky. Don’t know if I agree with the statement in the article that there’s a rise in antisemitism in Australia, but I’m not Jewish and I don’t hang out with racists so I wouldn’t know.

There's definitely a rise among fringe right wing cranks who think soros and the rothschilds are secretly bankrolling blue hair pronouns death squads, but in terms of the general public, I don't know if it's on the rise so much as it's one of the forms of bigotry that hasn't ever really been confronted much in this country. There's not a lot of jewish people around, and the ones that do live here tend to be concentrated in certain areas, so most people don't really interact with jewish people at all in their day to day lives. a lot of jewish people pretty much just look like european white people so you might not even know if you are. So people just carry on the stupid ideas they've heard throughout their lives, and without actually knowing any jewish people there's no human connection to prompt conscious questioning of those ideas.

Just to be clear, I don't mean to minimise the potential harm those right-wing cranks could do, it's important to keep them from spreading their ideas unchecked.

The Channel 10 pre-game intro to our 2007 Prelim vs Port is, in my humble opinion, one of the absolute best pre-game hype videos ever produced in the AFL.

Yeah, the result of the game sucked. But this intro was a solid 10/10 bit of brilliance.

Didn’t Geelong kick 20 goals in a row against us in the QF? It ****ing felt like it at the ground.

That was the final where in the warm up an hour before the game archer ran through the Geelong team as they were running around the field and started a brawl. We kicked the first three goals including hmac on the run outside 50 and then never looked like it.

Can only imagine what would have happened on GF day if we’d made it

Yeah that's dumb. Why would you give a side like that more ammo against you and fire them up even more?

Recall someone on here saying they spoke to a former player from 2000 that if we had made the GF vs * we would have gone the full brawl as a tactic...either to put them off or knowing we couldn't win so might as well break some bones (I half think we tanked the Prelim vs Melb though, our confidence was way too shot)

That's the one where we got three goals up, and then Brown inexplicably fumbled it on his own at the top of 50, and it was swept away starting the rout...

We were honest and squeezed the most we could of of that list. Played on a ton of heart. Most other years we finish 8-14 with that list.

We were smashed in finals but overall it was a postive from my perspective given we'd finished 14th the year before.
