We were honest and squeezed the most we could of of that list. Played on a ton of heart. Most other years we finish 8-14 with that list.

We were smashed in finals but overall it was a postive from my perspective given we'd finished 14th the year before.
Absolutely Laidley really did wonders with that group but throughout the year I just never really felt we were a top 4 quality side.

It was a good season as watching us win and be close to playing in a gf was exciting.

We were also expected to finish last in 07 as well.

It was a crazy year that's for sure. Lots of things happening behind closed doors and on the field.

2007 on-field was testimony to both Laidley and Adam Simpson's willingness to challenge the status quo.

2008 was a wasted year rarely mentioned. Beat or took it up to the top teams and really should've done a lot better than rolling over at home in the last round (and how!) then meekly limping out of finals in Sydney.

Along with the 2015 PF, that 2008 Port game will burn my soul until we win number 5. It really can’t be overstated what an amazing capitulation it was. IIRC we kicked the first 3 goals and it all seemed to be going as expected. Then Port just kept kicking goals out of their arse. Some of their frontrunners like Danyle Pearce and Peter Burgoyne seemed to have the ball on a string.

We were competitive against Hawthorn and Geelong that year in the H&A games. As I said, it’s gonna burn…

We beat Hawks (premiers) dogs twice (prelim finalists) respectable losses to Geelong (grand finalists) and a choke vs St Kilda (prelim finalist).

To shatter apart like that on our home deck against a 13th placed interstate team was deplorable. A win would've put us into 4th iirc.

Looks like Jy, JZ and TT are filming a new ad for the club/Spirit in Geelong… and no, I’m not behind bars 🤣

Technically, it wasn't our home deck, it was the MCG, but Port Adelaide had absolutely nothing to play for and their win meant they finished 13th instead of 14th.

The other thing that happened that day as I recall is the AFL trialled 4 boundary umpires for the first time and we had Hamish McIntosh gasping for breath and struggling to make it to ruck contests. As a result, we got smashed in clearances, with quite a number of Port's goals coming directly from stoppages.

Peak AFL to trial something in an actual match.

Getting sick of these ‘journalists’, every one else on the list are who teams can’t lose to injury, ours are top picks we can’t have leave.
Not exactly wrong though, after the debacle with JHF it would be a terrible look for the club if either of our top 4 picks request a trade next season.

It’s wrong

He went home. End of story. It’s not like he went to Carlton.

Paul Curtis didn’t have an issue. And he’s one of a long long line of players staying at north.

It’s a tired unimaginative take from someone that couldn’t be bothered coming up with a north player.

Like how hard is it to see Ben McKay is a free agent? Or LDU is out of contract?

Paul Curtis wasn't the number one pick in the draft, he wasn't even a first-round pick, it's a poor comparison. And he actually stated in the article that he could have named four other players, and even the coach, but he chose these two because of the perceived look of another top draft selection leaving the club after another troubled season.

I don't think it will happen, because I believe the changes implemented by Dr Hood over the last nine months will make the club one of the most desirable clubs to play for in the coming seasons. I thought his take (for us at least) was a little out of the box, and that perhaps for once a journalist actually put some thought into their article.

Just another example of how the casual media tosser misses our list demographic and what's already there in the Under 22 group. For me, it's a toss up between LDU and BMac.

The rest of the examples were not players requesting trades, they were players clubs don’t want to lose to injury in 2023. He didn’t even stick to his brief, chose a cheap shot instead.

On ch 10 sport last night they said max king was ahead of schedule with his shoulder reco. How can you be ahead of schedule a week after a reco?

In Victoria, he’s actually HAD surgery.
