Unfortunately it doesn’t matter how good your point might be - of you use “there” instead of “their”, not only do I not care what you say from there on in, you are basically dead to me. (Same goes for “your”/“you’re”. If you haven’t nailed year 4 English, your opinion on every single other thing is worthless).

Also, Twitter should test Ryan Bastinac for concussion before allowing him back on to tweet.

The red flags were raised for me when he wrote shithouse as two words.

Disagree with this. What should matter is the point or substance of the argument and not how good someone is at spelling or grammar - unless it’s so bad that the argument itself can’t be understood. I’ve graduated year 4 English and I make your/you’re typos and similar examples quite a lot.

Don’t agree with Ryan Bastinac view on this topic either mind you.

Probably because the tennis is an international event which is why I imagine the AFL wouldn’t have issues with the Australian or indigenous flags

The AFL’s policy is clear on religious, cultural and political statements with flags at games

Given the issues Jacinta Price is currently stoking up in protests, the woke brigade really have backed themselves into a corner here.

If the Israeli flag is clearly banned, Aboriginal and TSI flags should also be confiscated if displayed at grounds given the current political climate.

I’m well aware of the never ending conflict.

The flag being at the venue wasn’t a political statement. Anyone offended by it is choosing to make an issue out of something that doesn’t need to be.
hard disagree, especially given the work we do in Muslim communities via the Huddle, but happy to leave it there as KC suggested

Let me know when the Pride flag represents apartheid mate

Irrelevant sorry.

Whilst I personally have zero issue with same sex and transgender people and support them waving around whatever they want, it does offend “some” people. Waving it is a political statement.

Hence given what the afl has said, it can’t be waved. Which is a shame.

As is your apparent anti semitic views.

Yeah the Israeli flag is a contentious one these days displaying them everywhere is not likely to end well.

Obviously a complex issue with varied opinions but I think we can celebrate Sheezel's culture, community and achievements without lots of Israeli flags to be honest.

I’d hate to be the person that sits down with harry and his family to say “despite centuries of murder, dispossession, humiliation etc we want to celebrate your background in ways that don’t draw attention to it”.

What a wonderful world we live in.

Wait where are those pride and indigenous flags? Aiming those around will make us feel better for banning an Israel flag. Maybe we can waive an American flag around and chant “USA USA USA” to really celebrate inclusion. Just ban anything Jewish though. Have to be careful.

Great read…glory days
I was at the game in 2001 with two Essendon supporters who were at qtr. time and for once in there lives, were pretty speechless. Then they started canning their team and were saying the game was over. I said that Essendon will come back and there will not be a lot in it at half time. You should have heard them. You know nothing about football, you are an idiot etc. At half time, they were eating their words. Still one of the best games I have ever seen despite the loss.

C'mon mate we're just a small football club we can't solve world peace

We should absolutely celebrate Harry and who he is but we can't go creating headlines about the politics of the Middle East that's just the only practical way to go about it

please show me where i said that Jewish culture shouldn't be celebrated

I understand your point.

Israel is not Judaism. But it is a place. It has lots of Jews in it, and is the the location symbol of the Jewish people. Not everyone in Israel believes the GOVERNMENT does the right thing with regards to Palestinians.

Just like many around the world don’t think Australia does the right thing by indigenous people. The US does to
Black people etc etc. no one thinks those flags shouldn’t be banned.

If a Lebanese flag was flown in support of a Lebanese player making their debut, no one would raise an eyebrow (quite rightly).

The fact it’s an issue with one flag, from one race of people, makes me believe there is something nasty at play.

Do you honestly believe anyone would do anything than gush over a Palestinian flag being waved at the afl debut of a Palestinian player?

Just the thought of that game still makes me feel ill

except i never said anything about the American flag, and in fact, I agree with you that there's an inherent contradiction when it comes to state-based political symbols. I'm glad that we're agreed that nothing I said was anti-semitic (it wasn't)

however, i find your comparison to the Pride flag (& the indigenous flag, for that matter) completely inappropriate and that's what I initially took issue with. they're not at all the same thing
