The Crows have turned their offer for JHFF into Rachele, Dawson and Rankine.

We turned JHFF into 2 guys yet to play a game.

We’re way behind the Crows rebuild.

6 years ago we played off for a wooden spoon against Brisbane.

Our “rebuilding” has been atrocious.

unfortunately it's more of a Carlton styled re-build......

They still have key players in key positions. They had their two KPFs in place before their rebuild. We had Larkey coming in as a skinny rookie.
We still don’t have a proper forward structure and our defence has been a revolving door for three years. They had the luxury of picking a gun small forward at 5. We were nowhere near that stage.

Rebuild would be further along if we kept Billy Hartung by.

Was built for the modern game. We delisted him to use players like Taylor and Dumont on the wings :drunk:

Should have been given the caleb daniel role before caleb daniel. His defensive side may have lacked but so does Hall.

Yes but didn't his dad upset the coach with some honest feedback?

Saw that fox footy graphic as well. They've done really well.

we had a couple of guys called Tarrant and Brown to fill Key Positions.

End of 2016.

If we were rebuilding at the end of 2016, then Brad Scott wouldn't have gone to the board in early 2019 with the plan to rebuild. That's what got him the sack. The fact that he had the opportunity to rebuild at the end of 2016 with the board's support but instead, he sold them on the idea that he could top up with Dusty and Kelly and have another crack. Our rebuild didn't start until 2019 or 2020 because that's when we finally realised that we were rubbish.

Such a pointless graphic. Swans and Bombers have both played GC and Hawthorn who are last and third last. Geelong are almost with them with just 2 wins from 5 because they've belted Hawthorn and WC who are last and second last.

A nothing exercise at this point.
Not sure what is more pointless, the graphic or the the stroll Gary Lyon did through the office space as a weird entrance

Incredible list management by the Crows in using their first rounder on a South Australian wanting to come home in consecutive years. Just stunning, we should try that

I agree it's not as good as it sounds but what is good is only giving up pick 18 for Dawson who is one of the best players in the comp this year.

And their two KPD's are a rookie and PSD pick and are from limited viewing serviceable at the level. We haven't gotten that kind of value out of the draft since Larkey/Zurhaar 6 years ago

Relax on the Crows. Yes they have done some good things but their midfield is still a long way off it and it will show as season goes on. An ageing Sloane, laird and keays mixed with one or 2ish speculative kids is not anywhere near a contending midfield.
A week is a long time in footy.

Also only played one game away from AO so far and lost to GWS. Hard to judge them.

One thing you have to give them is they look rock hard fit.

Sixth oldest 23 for the weekend iirc. We're a young team, for sure, but we didn't put out a young side. Brisbane had more players between 0-50 games
Yeah but we got smashed without enough older player support in the last couple of seasons. Its the same thing that happened to other clubs like the GoDees and Carlton. Getting hung up on the age of the side or the games played is missing the forest for the trees imo.

What we need to be looking for is the younger players we have taking the lead on field and driving the play. Sheeze is showing a bit. WAP is too, Jy isn't young any more but he's in the oldest group of the new generation so to speak and he definitely does it. He, Buckets, Logue, Souv and Bull are all players who should be driving that, being from that 2015/6 draft period. Unfortunately they all had nightmares on the weekend so that's a worry. But if they learn from it and get better then that's the process working.

Our midfield is built around Jy and LDU, the forward line around Larks, bull, Curtis and Comben and the backline around Logue, McKay and hopefully the younger guys like bergs, Goatboy and if he gets it together, TT.

The older players are just some sort of scaffolding for that this year imo.

I take your point, but Jordan Dawson is one of the best dozen or so players in the league this year.
Moving him to the midfield has been the difference maker in the centre.

Preaching to the choir, mate. I'm one of the more emphatic proponents of senior support. It's why I rubbish anyone who says 'pack it in, it's time to play the kids.'

That being said, seeing all of Howe, Tucker, Greenwood, Cunners, and Turner on the same team sheet jars me a bit. In R1, it was just the last three on field, with Greenwood playing as a makeshift ruckman. Admittedly, that was an easier opponent, but it felt like the balance was about right in R1.

The seasoned players don't have much of a learning curve when we get smashed. Putting out such teams just has very little benefit to my eyes.

Surely a proper senior core of JZ, Goldy, Cunners, LMac, and Shiels, paired with the younger brigade of leaders (Corr, Jy, Larkey, BMac, Logue, CZ) is sufficient for a team looking towards long term benefits rather than short term results, rather than overbalancing the scale with older players

I don't mind playing Tucker given he is only 26 and was pretty decent against Carlton. But yes we are probably skewing too old each week overall.

It was an easter-egg. Strategically positioned with an oblique IUB reference for you to pick up on.

Glad you were paying attention.
