Did anyone catch Andy Maher's top 5 from LDU's draft on Friday?

Didn't even have LDU in his top 5 and had Tim Kelly in there ahead of him at #4.

I was honestly dumbfounded! If you gave any West Coast supporter who knows anything outside their own club the choice between Kelly and LDU, I doubt there would be a single taker for Kelly.

It does seem ****en idiots do grow on trees, I'd love to hear his top five. Does it look like the below?

These 5 have played the most games, bet you this is fairly close.

From memory, I think it went like this

1. Aaron Naughton
2. Andrew Brayshaw
3. Sam Taylor
4. Tim Kelly
5. Bayley Fritsch

So yeah, very close

Goodness me and the only reason he'd have dropped Cerra off is because he would want to protect his integrity lol.

An absolute pelican

In a time of footy media mediocrity Jonathan Horn is one of the good ones:

She’s going to be on SEN with Kingy this Friday. Should be good. Kingy reflected a bit this morning about little things they didn’t notice much when they played together but said when he thought back it made more sense now. Should be a really good chat.

Taking our blue and white coloured glasses off....it's not too far off - albeit LDU being very stiff

Naughton is the best young forward in the game. Brayshaw was just voted by his players as the best player in the comp. Sam Taylor just won AA honours, and is the best key defender in the competition behind Ben Mc. Kelly has a top 5 Brownlow finish (and even in a down year averaged comparable stats to LDU this year), and Fritsch kicked 50 goals this year, kicked 6 in a grand final, and has been in 2 consecutive AA squads.

LDU was great the second half of this year, but is only just starting to show what he can do...

I'd take LDU ahead of all those guys with the exception of maybe Naughton and Brayshaw on go forward basis(given we're crying out for a key forward)...but if you're basing it on exposed form and performances to date - you couldn't have LDU ahead of those 5.

I love LDU but in their first four years, Tim Kelly has 58 Brownlow votes to LDU's 6.

Can NMFC stop sending me notifications that are just about AFLW and Syd Barker nights. I jump thinking there is exciting news every time I get a notification on my phone :(

lol this is blue and white bias of the highest order. LDU has done it an elite level for all of about 12 games. while he does look genuinely special now, all those guys have far more runs on the board than he does.

Was it based on what they’ve produced so far or who he’d draft now because of what they’d produce in the future?

If it was about the future, it’d be split decision between Naughton & LDU for pick 1.

I only caught up with the Gibbs and Jenkins accounts of the camp in the last few days.

Had debated with a few on here about how culpable Pyke (and since then Younie) could really be held for a training camp that "went wrong". My view was that all clubs trial these unorthodox methods to gain improvement and sometimes it just goes wrong..

..However...

Now hearing the details, I was wrong to treat it so generically. I imagined they were upset about things like being frog-marched around in a sleep deprived state at 3am or made to carry logs in the surf without any pudding in their guts or something.

To hear the actuals and their club's management of the whole episode after that, I am now in agreement that Pyke as our next senior coach would've been a shocking appointment.

It was probably a relief for the club that Younie's line was such an abject failure in 2022. Otherwise they would've had to come up with a creative way to jettison him just to push any connections to that tripe off our books.

We’re at a point where no one reads or subscribes to the Herald Sun, however because of its financial backing and it’s current crop of influential media personalities such as Robbo and Ralfy, it somehow finds itself into relevancy. Those two also have prominent roles on Fox Footy. Then there is Supercoach which is a major success for them.

As a result, it means that each year someone like Gary Buckanara will get paid to write that dribble and it’ll get printed, published and posted. He actually gets paid to write that.

This shit needs to stop. Period. The less support that paper receives the less chance our club is linked to that nonsense. F*** me

I'm not convinced that Naughton is in the best two young forwards at his club. I expect he finishes his career as an intercept / attacking defender. He's an exceptional talent but they are wasting him.
