Shocked to read that $2200 is the maximum fine. I guess the TAC provides funding to help the victim but the limited options to punish an offending driver don’t seem appropriate.
Yeah.

Staggering really. We are way too cavalier about road trauma and rely on the concept of "accident" too much as a society. An accident is spilling coffee on someone, not almost ending their life through a lack of care. This was completely avoidable and just luck means Arch doesn't have a life on his hands. Not specifically an attack on him, this is a top down societal issue that blaming individuals when it goes horribly wrong doesn't resolve. I lived in Japan for a while and they had a strict liability system, which at the time felt unfair coming from our system but looking back later I realised that it forces accountability. Essentially the bigger vehicle is responsible - pretty much always - for the vulnerable. Truck-Car-Motorbike-Bike-Pedestrian-Child etc. On an individual level it isn't fair sometimes, but on a macro / societal level it makes it inherently safer and fairer for everyone to use streets.

For those that like to follow North on every social media platform, they have a "Threads" account up and running.

Threads is like Twitter and is owned by Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Only launched today and you need an Instagram account to start with for the moment. Apparently has over 10 Million sign ups already. Threads: Ten million join Meta's Twitter rival, Zuckerberg says

Only available as an App for the moment. No web version. Search for it in your App store... Enjoy!

I'm on there as @ Chadwiko.

Also on Bluesky as the same name.

22 out of the last 25 seasons the Swans have played finals, according to the comms tonight.

Instead of provoking questions about the failure of the AFL's equalisation program, we get Bloods Culture gaslighting.

I *ing hate Sydney.
Yeah. Clearly the only club that has ever voluntarily given up entirely on its supporter group and abandoned it's home has a unique never say die attitude. Makes complete sense.

Did they really need to call it Threads?

Got to be one of the most haunting movies of all time.

This poor girl doesn't know she's just made an enemy for life. Ziebull is probably going to boo her on Sunday when she runs out :drunk:

Young ones coming through the system seem to eat pressure for breakfast. Enjoy Baked Potato Stadium, Flora.

These are almost the best parts of football I reckon. Reminds me of being a kid and meeting the players at Family days, or seeing them walk around before the game or even on the street! A 2 minute conversation with a passionate kid can go a long bloody way for your love of the game

It was always a worry when the girls in the chemist shop would check the photos to make sure they weren't blurry. And third photo in, after the one of your mum's favourite rose and the family cat was the start of those pictures....
I worked at big w like ten years ago. We had to check digital prints too. If we flicked through and found nudes we had to check every photo and bin them. Was some awful shit we saw.

Actually ended up having to call the cops on one guy because he had children in photos with him where he was clearly "aroused". Disgusting.
