Pretty funny, the gimp could have qualified his opinion by pointing to Goater being a kid, Corr coming back from injury, Dawson being a rookie, Fisher coming back from injury and it being his club debut, Pink debuting, and Tucker being a winger far moreso than a defender... but instead he just lets his turd sit in the bowl without flushing (or wiping).

But he does talk about Cadman, Brown and Daniels as if they're Lockett, Dunstall and Ablett. GWS should win this game but setting a baseline of them kicking 30 goals and then giving them an out of not being serious should they not - only Sydney last year against WC have kicked 30 goals in a game in the last 15 years - is deliberately insulting. They aren't that good, we aren't that bad.

Completely in agreeance about the insult being deliberate. He goes out of his way to be an arse most weeks.

If I was Clarko which I'm not, I'm just some pleb campaigner. I'd show the boys this before the game for a bit of added fire that this is what the media think of us atm.
Not the media. Just some 4 eyed shit campaigner masquerading as a journo. I have scraped dog turds off the bottom of my shoe whose opinion I'd rate more

It remains one of the great mysteries of the universe how Damien Barrett remains employed. Its up there with trying to explain the existence of dark matter. I've never met a footy fan who respects Damo's commentary, he adds no value, entertainment or insight into any issues, and his pageview metrics must certainly be appalling. Yet there he is, week after week, from which I can only infer that someone out there things he's doing something right somehow. Its a head-scratcher for the ages.

The hyperbole on the whole GWS team is out of control.

I doubt the triple premiership teams of Brisbane or Hawthorn were spoken about as highly.

There is a single line in his Wikipedia page that sums Guttersnipe Barrett up.

Barrett has stated that he feels journalists should be held less responsible for stories that turn out to be false.

His position being that he can fling as much shit as possible at anyone without ever having any sort of accountability for the shit that he flings.

This take is everything that is wrong with the football media. Everything.

It is why someone like Rick18's content is far far superior to that which is put out even through official channels.

Rick bases his stuff of actual analysis of games not feelpinions and rumours.

Guttersnipe on the other hand struggles to even make his own simplistic format of If; Then, coherent.

there are voices to listen to about North, there are voices to listen to about the AFL in general, Barrett is neither of them.

Really the only reason you should ever listen to or hear his voice is if you are trying to scare away birds from your veggie patch and you play his podcasts through speakers as a deterrent.

Dark matter and string theory are easier to dissect.

Damien isn't even a Mal Brown etc one of the boys type where you can at least understand how he worked his way in.

He is carving out a long career seemingly ticking no boxes at all.

He's like Paul Potts or Susan Boyle getting to audition for a talent show drawing smirks for their appearance- but then topping it off by not being able to sing either.

Call me overly nostalgic but:

Sandy Roberts
Drew Morphett
Richie Benaud
Peter Donnegan
Bill Lawry..

Vs

Tom Morris
Damien Barrett
James Brayshaw
Mark Robinson
Matthew Hayden

Inexact comparisons but **** me.
oh my god don't get me started on the cricket commentary...

That last paragraph is exquisite.

JB would be in a permanent state of arousal over his mighty blue baggers at the moment.

Carlton really aren't that good. Got lucky in the finals last season (Sydney and Melbourne were the better sides in both their EF and SF - both those sides lost those close games because of poor kicking for goal).

This season in the first game Brisbane had a lot more inside 50's and were just wasteful and last night Richmond (a bottom 8 side) more than matched them.

When we played them last season we had our worst run with the umpires all season, to the point where it was borderline cheating.
There were all the soft free kicks they got in front of goal, the cunnington decision as well but despite that we more than matched them apart from one lapse.

Round 3 is absolutely a winnable game for us as much as the Fremantle one the week before.

To be fair, it lines up with what most of us are posting in the pre-game thread. Right now, in my mind, we’re winning this… until we don’t. 🤣

I haven't read the pre-game thread, but even given the pessimism of some of our supporters, I simply don't believe that anyone there has suggested (a) GWS will kick 30 goals against us, or (b) the GWS forward line might not take this game seriously because we're so bad.

There's no lining up any of the sh!t from Barrett with what North supporters are saying. And he's completely undeserving of any "to be fair" consideration when he's engaging in his regular activity of insulting the club.

I have mastered the ancient Chinese art of “blocking out anything anyone called Barrett says”.
