In all the time I’ve been watching AFL, I cannot recall even a single instance of a player saying that the club they left had a superior “anything” in comparison to their new club. This Goldy/McKay palaver is so manufactured.
Fevola said he'd hoped to get to St Kilda or Collingwood after his trade which really warmed the hearts of the Brisbane supporters.

What’s worse is watching them in real time on Tv.

It’s why you turn it off and go get a life midway through the 3rd

Im as pathetic as those skill errors
I had to turn the TV off. I couldn’t cope any longer. It drove me to clear out my wardrobe, and every woman knows this is not a task for the faint hearted, and I went old school and listened on the radio. It was only slightly more bearable. The amount of times I heard Simpkin and turnover in the same sentence was world record level.

Only the most stubborn among us would not admit that the North hierarchy, since 2016 until “Sonja”, have been largely responsible for the hole we’re in. Some of it has been due to misfortune. Plenty of instances of plain “bad calls”, though. However, all that is in the past. Hopefully, we’ve learned our lesson. I’d argue that there has not been a single misstep since Sonja took over. Lloyd’s assertion regarding “we should have tanked” is obviously ludicrous.

Tanking is explicitly not allowed in our game, and we would have been raked over the coals if we'd tried it against GC. I hate seeing people mention that point, as if it were feasible.

Honestly, what purpose does Lloyd’s comments about Harley and North tanking the last game serve? ‘North f**ked up heaps to get where they are, now here is what I think is another f up’. Nothing can be changed. I honestly don’t understand why he would make that comment. The story is ‘West Coast will be really happy with Harley’. But no, it’s ‘what a f up by north’ and over something over everyone said they shouldn’t do.

Comments Lloyd made on August 28th:

But speaking on Nine’s Footy Classified, host Craig Hutchison argued with Essendon great Matthew Lloyd and journalist Caroline Wilson that the Kangaroos missed an opportunity to lose the game and tank for Reid.

Lloyd: “I’ve never, ever seen a team actually benefit from losing a game.

“What that’ll do for those guys over the off-season and even just justify what Alastair’s trying to do, far outweighs getting a kid into your footy club.”

Brilliant. I can accept him changing his mind but I can’t accept him using it as a rod to whack us.

Leigh Montagna just eviscerated the midfield in 360.

LDU, Powell and Wardlaw are the second most used trio in the league.

And statistically the worst out of ANY combination.

Distaster.

It wasn’t feasible as the AFL made Gold Coast tank. Therefore, making it bleeding obvious the club would have to cheat to earn the first round pick. Also the fact Magoo was leaving for huge salary that would net North a first round compo pick before the last round. That would mean pick 1 and 2 in the draft… no no no, we cant have that.

Gold coast - tank.

Posted on here 2 weeks ago. Neither Ldu, Powell, Wardlaw bring out the best in each others game. There is no flow, neither is highly damaging on the outside and neither is highly damaging on the inside.

The best Midfields in the comp have a Bull, an explosive mid and a classy polished outside Midfielder. EG Port with Butters, Rozee and Jhf. Eg Brisbane with Neale, Dunkley, Mcclugage.

Hopefully with another 20-30 games Wardlaw can become the Bull, LDU the explosive midfielder and then have Sheezel/Kerch as the outside class with Powell in the rotation.

We Must play Sheezel through the middle for outside class and would also bring in Phillips to play inside, if club is going to keep Simpkin on a flank. Cannot keep rolling out the same trio and expecting it will change.

Not anytime soon

A well deserved evisceration, and I hope the players and coach were listening.

I’m really pleased that Montagna put this under the spotlight. Our midfield structure / coaching has been a disaster this year. For me, this is on Clarkson and Adams.

  • Our structure at CBAs are a joke. The Ricky graphic below reflects it perfectly. You’re not playing the chances, in fact you’re allowing the opposition a complete advantage before the ball is even bounced.
  • The sweeper vs additional midfielder at stoppage, I think Montagna’s vision says it all really. You’re effectively allowing an outnumber at stoppage, whilst our sweeper is largely ineffective. Which is why it often appears like opposition midfielders break away in waves against us.
  • The personnel isn’t an issue individually, but there is no balance with CBA/Midfield mix. The drop off after TP, LDU and GW to our fourth most used is ridiculous considering their age and experience. It’s not surprise they all look exhausted. I’m happy Clarkson has given them the keys, but let’s just try and balance it by getting a couple more through there more regularly.

Play the percentages at centre bounce. Swap the sweeper for another in the contest. Find a balance for overall midfield minutes by spreading the load.

Guarantee we improve.

Doesn’t reflect well on Xerri either to be honest. Those guys were there at different times last year.

We are never taking the ball cleanly from centre bounces and I don’t think his role and ruck style can just be ignored.
It’s not an X issue IMO. Sure, he could give us a couple more HO’s to advantage a game. Opposition midfielders have rinsed us with worse ruckman.

And LDU. He's the elephant in the room.

It's his midfield. He's the senior player in there on game day. Watch him in Montagna's vision, it's 😬
Yeah he’s been going just ok. Oppositions when they plan for us have been sending a big mid to sit on him at stoppage. Dunkley and Hewett both did it to good effect. They let Powell and Wardlaw do what they want for the most part. Again I think it can be helped by throwing another big body in there from time to time.

His defensive efforts aren’t great, but equally he’s our go-to clearance player and is afforded some defensive leniency. It’s the next step in his development to become more rounded.

I don't think it's anything to do with him being sat on IMO but that's just my two cents. In Montagna's vision he was the opposite of sat on.

I do think he needs to lift. But also feel free to go back and watch the Carlton game and what happened when they eased the Hewett move in Q3. Equally I don’t think we are providing him the platform to perform at his best…

It was excellent analysis. I could watch this sort of stuff, no matter how damning it is, all day long. This is how footy should be covered. No faux outrage, no click bait, no manufactured agro. Well done 360.
