I do think he needs to lift. But also feel free to go back and watch the Carlton game and what happened when they eased the Hewett move in Q3. Equally I don’t think we are providing him the platform to perform at his best…

IMO when you position yourself in the defensive third of the stoppage I don't think you should be able to opt out of defending at said stoppage. If he's the leader and the go-to he needs to be setting the young blokes up.

Agreed.

And if not (he’s not in the leadership group for a reason), it needs to be addressed via coaching & structures. 5 losses later and it hasn’t been.

It was excellent analysis. I could watch this sort of stuff, not matter how damning it is, all day long. This is how footy should be covered. No faux outrage, no click bait, no manufacture agro. Well done 360.
Agreed. It’s the best segment of 360 all week.
First crack is also a good show as they actually analyse and don’t theorise

Cornes looks scared as s**t during this exchange.

Caro kept giving him an out and Hutchy (of all people) sounded eloquent as he discussed the challenges to non-traditional figures entering and contributing to the game ... yet Cornes simply wasn't listening, repeating the same words over and over.

Shades of "it's not racist to boo Adam Goodes".

A vile little troll.

Yep, I rate Montagna pretty highly.
And obviously Kingy but I’m biased heh.
Weird because as players, I wouldn’t have picked them to be analytical masters, but they are. I wouldn’t have trusted Kingy to even know how to turn a computer on in the 90’s, but here he is with his laptop doing a great job. Good stuff.

Absolutely. Geelong having a HFF wander into the middle for any followup stoppages and their half backs streaming through as outlet options while our HBFers trailed behind really stood out to me also.

That’s definitely a coaching/planning thing. Seeing tonight’s vision we were on a hiding to nothing in the guts.

So it's not just an issue with our ruck and the midfielders at the centre bounce, but that there are also coaching / structural issues

Looked like it. As Montagna said, we appear to hang back to further protect the vulnerable undermanned backline but centre clearance stats show the damage is being done in the middle so something in our setup there has to change.

While I think Montagna's analysis was excellent it should be pointed out that we have been competitive when it comes to our centre clearance work up to the Geelong game on the weekend, so I'm thinking that perhaps the narrowness of Kardinia Park and Geelong's knowledge of how to play in their backyard may have contributed to our poor centre work last Sunday afternoon. That said, the stats regarding the LDU, Wardlaw and Powell combination in the centre were damning and hopefully Clarko will have taken note and give others an extended run in the middle, including players like Sheezel, McKercher, Zurhaar and Greenwood who may not normally spend a lot of time the centre, and also Phillips if he can make his way back into the side.

I do think there are issues with how we structure up, not only in the middle but all around the ground at a centre bounce. I don't know that stats, but it feels like 3/4's of all second possessions (first possession after the centre clearence) is by an opponent either in their forward 50 or clearing from our defensive 50, it's not obvious on TV, but it looks like all our forwards and defenders play behind their opponent and as a result find themselves out of position when a quick kick comes out the centre. I don't know if it's how the coach wants the guys to play, but it frustrates the hell out of me and I wish Clarko would do something about it.

What has Goldy been saying?
Every opportunity he's had when he's been interviewed has been to snipe North.

"It's nice to actually be playing in front of big crowds"
"Nice to come to a team that appreciates what I can do"
"They have a coffee cart in the team room, me and Ben turned and looked at each other like ERMAHEGERD, we couldn't believe how much better stuff is"

Well, the joke is on Todd then because there is a coffee machine at Arden St and I'll even confess that it makes a decent enough drink. Maybe nobody showed him how to use it.

As someone who has paid zero attention to Goldy or McKay since they left to join * I find those sorts of reports nauseating. Makes Goldy sound like the kind of person who has to grovel to whoever he is currently in the room with.
Paints all his "North is special blah blah blah" stuff in a dishonest light
You didn't get a new deal at 36 mate, deal with it

McKay would’ve stood there looking at it for the past 8 years.

No wonder Essendon are so ****ing soft

Are these verbatin quotes?

The second one is interesting if so. Notice how he specifically says team and not club.

Hyperbole aside, has Goldstein actually been sniping us?

I can barely stomach watching north content let alone wanting to watch anything additional.
They're not word for word quotes obviously, Goldsteins not going to actually say "EHRMAHGERD".
But all 3 were posted in some form by North posters, on here within the last 2 weeks or so.

Some examples:

Goldy taking a thinly veiled swipe in his post game interview - refreshing "to come to a group that really appreciates what I can bring".

Bts interview with goldy..
It's a nice change playing infront of crowds like this..
Then to wife and kids... who do you barrack for north or essendon....dons.
Then wife...we were blue and white for awhile...but we like red and black better
...
Couldn't help but think....geez there were a couple of backhanders in there....
Did he really crack it that much we we said thanks but we're moving in a different direction......
Then thought...wait till his girls or son play footy and this big club winge about how they should have exclusive rights...
Just an observation....
