Lets just be honest here.

Brad Scott wants Taryn Thomas because of his football ability. Him saying the crap he did is merely an attempt to soften things should he able to sign him. His sole focus is clearly winning. If Taryn wasn't a potentially elite player who could make his side better, then him and his brother would be the first ones denouncing the possibility of signing him.

In other words they're ignoring the fact they shouldn't sign him because of the long list of s**t he has done and amount of chances he has had because they see him as a component to their side winning more football games. The Scott brothers are good at manipulating idiots (aka the media) but anyone with any semblance of common sense and percetiveness can see right through it.

Hopefully the board at his club tells him to STFU and they stay away from Taryn.

Taryn Thomas should not be on an AFL list next year.
Nailed it.

He still doesn't get it. The issue was the language he chose - specifically, that Tarryn is a "good person".

This language is problematic because it effectively reduces the behaviour and removes accountability. How often do we hear "he's a good bloke, he was just having a bad day" or "he's not a bad guy, he was just stressed..." etc?

He's not a good person, just like every other perpetrator is not a good person, and too often we tend to try and separate the behaviour from the person to try and salvage them. Brad can support Tarryn however he likes in private and no one is saying he shouldn't receive support or counselling, but Brad saying s**t like he did in public is a slap in the face to any victim of domestic violence.
My personal pet hate is when they trot out the ‘ the (insert horrible person name’) I know is not like that at all. You shouldn’t judge.’
So we all take their, often self serving, judgement over all the evidence and other opinions? Jesus wept.

This seemed a lot like an * person (Watson) trying to make another * person (Bard) get some face back from what he said.

The entire thing is nonsense, he wasn't trying to help TT, he was talking about looking at TT to be a * player next season (because apparently he is a good bloke).

There are lots of horrendous humans in the AFL (Stringer, DeGoey, just to name a couple) where the club doesn't care what they do as long as it doesn't make the media.

This is why I suspect TT will be in the AFL next season (provided the AFL approve it).

Whether he does make it back or not, I hope he sorts himself out though, for his own sake and for anyone who interacts with him.

I thought he threw a lamp at his girlfriend?
No, he threw a lamp against a wall. There is no doubt he is frustrated by the people he chose to hang around and perhaps the anti social behaviour takes its toll. If you sleep with dogs you end up with fleas.

But anyway, I digress.

Will 100% be on a list, be an All Aus and kill it. No doubt about it.

And our socially aware CEO and President have essentially let him walk for free.

You cannot honestly suggest his position with us was anything but untenable?
And to suggest he would have had any trade collateral come trade time is fantasy, meanwhile we would have continued to be a lightning rod of criticism for any issues whilst he remained on the list.

he is gone and i personally would have pulled the trigger 12 months earler,

Iam happy for people to pot the club for poor decisions but this wasn't one.

he is 100 percent able to say whatever he likes of his thoughts of tt, i know a lot of good people that have done some pretty ordinary stuff, and if iam to be entirely honest there are a few things i have done over the years that were hardly my finest moments, why he thought it would be a good idea to make a public statement re tt on womens safety week is entirely a different matter.
I really don’t think Bard has ever uttered a single syllable that wasn’t in some way trying to engineer a personal outcome for himself.

100% Essendon bound. He would be the final piece (in Brad’s mind) to his premiership side.

Draper/Goldstein Martin Thomas Parish Stringer Merrett is becoming a decent midfield.
Especially for free. * could care less what other people think and we know their own supporters would gargle whatever koolaid the club “creates”.

Exactly this!

It really is an amazing coincidence that he has a very specific philosophy on how to go about helping troubled people and of all the victims and perpetrators of crime, and this philosophy, by pure chance, means that * signing TT is actually an incredibly noble and altruistic way to enact it.

You'd almost have more respect if he just came out and was honest, "We know he is an incredibly ordinary person and acted in a reprehensible way, but we don't give a *, he's good at footy and winning games is more important to us than any of that"

I don't care if they let him play, but if they do, they need to drop this faux pretence of giving a shit about anything. Just stay out of anything political or moral. Don't remove people like Cable, cockblock Carey etc if you allow people like Thomas back in to play.

I’m very much interested in knowing how many behavioural rehabilitation programs Bard has been involved in, and in particular involving young males in the space that tt finds himself in.

I dare say, he may be over his head here as he wouldn’t have the faintest idea about what’s best for Tarryn…unless he has been collaborating with his psychologist.

Im not getting into this again.

All I will say, if his position was untenable, he would have been de registered

100% on a list next year.

Yay for virtue signalling!

The thing is he'd gone from abusive texts to threats, then to physical stuff like throwing stuff at walls with the GF in the vicinity, which would indicate escalatory behaviour. Given his unwillingness to change while he was doing the prgrams, who's to say the behaviour doesn't continue to escalate to the point he starts laying hands on her - and then the club would have had a PR nightmare on our hands for not taking preventative action.

It's not on the club at all. It's on Tarryn.

No. Wrong. The lamp was first.

Its all text messages.

Who’s to say it will escalate?

Does every text threat end up in violence?

If I har a dollar for every violent threat in a text to me, i’d have invested it.

Text messages, from people who hang out at revs without sleep for 3 days.

We will never know for sure, but given the context, it's not a huge leap though and is a huge risk. There is a reason why society links it to DV now.

The man had multiple chances and didn't want to change.

Only so much a club can do when young men like TT have access to 24/7 propaganda by the likes of Andrew Tate on social media.

And at the moment, in Australia, every four days a women is killed by her partner or former partner.

Not saying that TT would ever get to that point, but he is certainly on the path.

I didn’t realise Tarryn physically assaulted anyone?

I’ll say it again.

Will 100% be on another teams list, our best player, for free.

Wasn’t pursued by police, threats of sending explicit/revenge pr0n basically thrown out.

Text messages.

this is my last reply because its not worth going into. Its been widely discussed.

All I will say is we lose our most talented footballer, for free and will 100% play for another team next year, will dominate and be all Australian. Thats all im saying, im not diminishing violence against women. Thats it

On the weekend someone told me he did, gave me a time and a date, said it was done in front of other people and also said he'd spoken to TTs dad recently and his dad expected him to be back in the AFL next year.

Until i heard that I felt similarly to you.
