Still waiting for someone to explain the Amartey free kick
On a tangent, Dean Margetts was on a podcast and said the reason people thought he was a West Coast man was that he once wore a beanie that looked like Eagles colours. Dean, that wasn't the reason why. It was the constant favouritism of the Eagles!
On a positive note, he said the missed Jacobs free in the prelim cost him a grand final gig. Reap what you sow.

It wasn’t just the missed free.

It was the doubling down and awarding a free kick against him.

That last paragraph confirms how ****ed the sport has become. They literally cannot afford to lose umpires with a half decent record.

The AFL needs to stop changing interpretations every 5 seconds and the rules every second week. They also need to invest heavily into the umpiring department because it is in dire need of assistance.

People looking to umpire will not want to adjudicate AFL games because the interpretations are all over the joint and they'll cop it from fans as a result. They can't hide.

**** the AFL. This is people's livelihood at stake. Mental health! Do something about it!

Yes but it was one of those throwing yourself on the grenade moments. If he hadn't "missed" the Jacobs free, West Coast probably wouldn't have made the grand final so it was a brave sacrifice.

Also, perhaps if the AFL stopped telling the public one thing and the umpires the exact opposite, then there wouldn't be as much anger and resentment towards umpires.
