But they didn't need to feature him prominently. I think it's a mistake that the club has chosen this route. Brings more attention to it.I do feel for the club here, pretty much 'damned if you do damned if you don't'. Media always trying to whip up outrage, clicks, engagement and they've got it here. Could only imagine the articles if Carey had been prominently featured given all the Tarryn Thomas coverage over the last few years.
There has to be a balance though which I thought the club handled without any issue in this case. You can accept Carey (and others) are a part of our history and success without actively using them in your marketing going forward. If we had a 'Wayne Carey' award for leading club goalkicker each year that might be another story!
Wrong thread TTS, can you please stick to the subject of why our greatest ever player wasn't included in the centenary jumper release, we're outraged / don't care etc.So Jay Clark in today's Advertiser has as one of the headings "Langford in Crows sights", and the only reason they might do that is because of Langford's size and strength, no insider knowledge, no draft strategy and no other reasons other than his own thoughts. The other day it was suppose to be Jagga Smith, since Sam is supposed to go at pick #1 {nobody really knows} maybe Tuesday or Wednesday he'll find that Finn O'Sullivan has their interest as well, I mean he's only got Josh Smillie and Finn left now of the top midfielders so he's still got some work to do!
If he was in it, someone would have complained, cue the moral outrage pieces and the reference to TT and how the club should have known better. Far happier with this storyline.7News Melbourne now running with this story, ffs.
Welcome to last week. News? What is that, the late, late, late, late edition?7News Melbourne now running with this story, ffs.
Beyond mental, eh.Welcome to last week. News? What is that, the late, late, late, late edition?
It's because, on it's face, the story is more or less nothing. But a few days have passed and there's pockets of outrage, so now they can report on that.Welcome to last week. News? What is that, the late, late, late, late edition?
Been in the media all day. Wll be interesting to see if the club comments. They must have foreshadowed this reaction and have a response ready.7News Melbourne now running with this story, ffs.
Nope not at all. People just needed an excuse to throw him under the bus after he was posting pro trump stuff. Now North supporters can and just say it was the Carey posts.Corey really seems like a bit of a ****ing peanut these days
They’ll no doubt be a gala dinner or 2 during the season to celebrate 100 years….does this mean the club’s greatest player may not get an invite? Not sure how I read that personally, but I’ll choose to not take offence.
Think it was unnecessary of the club to exclude our greatest ever player, clearly on the grounds you suggest, if that’s indeed that’s why they did. It’s a dangerous game IMO.
This is the slippery slope when you start doing this stuff. Carey is obviously an ordinary bloke. Made some horrendous choices in life. They’ll no doubt be a gala dinner or 2 during the season to celebrate 100 years….does this mean the club’s greatest player may not get an invite?
it's a promotional video to advertise some merch...This is the slippery slope when you start doing this stuff. Carey is obviously an ordinary bloke. Made some horrendous choices in life.
But I’m not comfortable with cancel culture. Now the club looks like it has put its stake in the ground. So they’d obviously have to take that stance. Surely.
This is where David King kinda shoots us in the foot.
Acts like a noble north man most of the time. Then cracks the shits about stuff like this
shrug if anyone deserves to have their opinions heard, it would certainly include the other blokes who achieved Glory with Carey. That's both the ones he's on good terms with and the ones he isn't.This is where David King kinda shoots us in the foot.

Can you provide the story, where Carey is aggrieved at not being in the video? Did you even read the story?imagine if every other club legend had a hissy fit via the media any time they weren't included in video content. Absolute clown behaviour
Maybe a holding statement.Been in the media all day. Wll be interesting to see if the club comments. They must have foreshadowed this reaction and have a response ready.
And what about Mario Turco?I'm especially aggrieved by the snubbing of Syd Barker.
When will we break our silence on The Wayne only sort of appearing in an ad.Maybe a holding statement.
Not at all. As well as sticking up for a mate, who he absolutely knows has messed up, he loves our club more than just about any other ex-Shinboner I’ve ever met.Corey really seems like a bit of a ****ing peanut these days
Woke woke woke woke wokeNot at all. As well as sticking up for a mate, who he absolutely knows has messed up, he loves our club more than just about any other ex-Shinboner I’ve ever met.
Corey bleeds royal blue and white and saw first hand how the Duck almost single-handedly brought us home two (should of been 3) premierships. Having a go at another one of our club greats in Corey for stating the bleeding obvious just makes you look like an absolute woke POS really.
This was a post but can't even have an opinion anymore, because wokeWoke woke woke woke woke
