I do feel for the club here, pretty much 'damned if you do damned if you don't'. Media always trying to whip up outrage, clicks, engagement and they've got it here. Could only imagine the articles if Carey had been prominently featured given all the Tarryn Thomas coverage over the last few years.

There has to be a balance though which I thought the club handled without any issue in this case. You can accept Carey (and others) are a part of our history and success without actively using them in your marketing going forward. If we had a 'Wayne Carey' award for leading club goalkicker each year that might be another story!
But they didn't need to feature him prominently. I think it's a mistake that the club has chosen this route. Brings more attention to it.

So Jay Clark in today's Advertiser has as one of the headings "Langford in Crows sights", and the only reason they might do that is because of Langford's size and strength, no insider knowledge, no draft strategy and no other reasons other than his own thoughts. The other day it was suppose to be Jagga Smith, since Sam is supposed to go at pick #1 {nobody really knows} maybe Tuesday or Wednesday he'll find that Finn O'Sullivan has their interest as well, I mean he's only got Josh Smillie and Finn left now of the top midfielders so he's still got some work to do! :rolleyesv1:
Wrong thread TTS, can you please stick to the subject of why our greatest ever player wasn't included in the centenary jumper release, we're outraged / don't care etc.

Not sure how I read that personally, but I’ll choose to not take offence.

Think it was unnecessary of the club to exclude our greatest ever player, clearly on the grounds you suggest, if that’s indeed that’s why they did. It’s a dangerous game IMO.
They’ll no doubt be a gala dinner or 2 during the season to celebrate 100 years….does this mean the club’s greatest player may not get an invite?🤷‍♂️

This is the slippery slope when you start doing this stuff. Carey is obviously an ordinary bloke. Made some horrendous choices in life.
But I’m not comfortable with cancel culture. Now the club looks like it has put its stake in the ground. So they’d obviously have to take that stance. Surely.

it's a promotional video to advertise some merch...

While I think there's every chance they try to have as little to do with Carey as possible, I'd hardly call this molehill of a scandal the club putting it's stake in the ground.

This is where David King kinda shoots us in the foot.

Acts like a noble north man most of the time. Then cracks the shits about stuff like this

David King shoots himself in the foot

Makes some big calls on things

Fagan and Brions kept the receipts from April

shrug if anyone deserves to have their opinions heard, it would certainly include the other blokes who achieved Glory with Carey. That's both the ones he's on good terms with and the ones he isn't.
