Can’t believe how much time Sloane spent in the centre square today.

Really never thought that whole post-Dangerfield Sloane changing his game to assume the role as a contested stoppage midfielder thing would be going on 7 seasons later and not looking like stopping despite him never really excelling in that sort of role even when he wasn’t 32 and pretty much broken.

We can't run with just kids, FFS. We're already incredibly young - we're going to need some mature bodies around the ball.

LOL so you didn't even watch the game it seems.

No, I'm in the UK and not getting up at 4 for a trial game....

But I stand by my point that trying to guage form on pre season is nonsense. If at the end of this season Fog is still struggling, then yes its a valid conversation to have.

But considering he's just come off a good season and we have not even started the season proper, it comes across as totally reactionary.

Fogarty tackled Wines because an umpire called play on. Punished with a 50m penalty. Good communication there between the umpires.
Even without the play on call it was still terrible. Obviously wines tried to play on, players halt the oppo all the time. Probably should have been htb.

I thought we went pretty well, noting I missed the third quarter. Lots of good signs. But it is a trial game with reduced intensity, so it's hard to take anything out of it. Did we hit a leading target inside 50 at any point, I don't recall it.

That was the stand out disappointing aspect of the game. 4 marks inside 50 - Port had 17. We were too tall. I think Gollant goes out for Cook or McAdam but hopefully our ball movement improves

A good season, c'mon...

Brereton made numerous mentions about his lack of work rate and non ability to get to the right spots

Who do you think the Talls will be ? Gollant won’t play so Fog Thilthorpe and Himmelberg will be the talls with Rachele, McHenry and either McAdam Rowe or Cook as the other

Why 3 talls, better to go with a mobile player like Dawson at Half Forward who can take an overhead grab and who will offer more defensive pressure than Fogarty.

How long does a broken hand keep you out for?

Hopefully Pedlar's hammy is on the more minor end of the scale. Not absolutely critical for first 22 or anything like that but be good for him to get a run at it.

Midfield delivery isn't any better.

Can't see that improving with current group.

Scoring will always be that little bit harder for us.
Add our best outside players...

Dawson
Seedsman
Milera

It will help our use of the ball.

About 4 weeks by the looks. Lairdy would miss first two rounds then if it is that bad.

We will be playing Dawson in the midfield, mostly off a wing.

We are not going to use him as a forward.

We do need to develop a Lynch type replacement though. Gollant got a go today, but where is Worrell?
