Round 13
21 October 2018
Coney Island Warriors vs Sin City Swamprats at Van Cortlandt Park

Rd 13 and we were back at the VCP looking to bounce back from back to back losses, as we hosted the Swamprats.

This week

C8h_wF4NtL_I3W9knUgt5qIvIvYeXjErNF8ZsjEaStwVEtuqpU_sQ7Qqxu85Gb7dkxxmproixptH1fMm4lwJMG_1AZFZ0MnmhNjeB57uideS-8wV8NOYlWkPFGeVo0uOklmKtCM

Pretty much Woosh.

Norm popped in for a rare visit for a weather update..

Been around the club since our first season. The token American and New York State-r of the club. I'm responsible for our club song and groundskeeping of VCP in addition to playing the qooty. As for my remark of the weather at VCP, it got cold here in a hurry. Last week it was 28 and now it is more like 13 degrees.

While candie’s expectations were set a little too high…

waiting for you to post something intelligent. may not see them this round.

Coney Island Warriors 11.11 (77) lost to Sin City Swamprats 14.11 (95)

A 6 goal to 1 first quarter proved enough in the end, with the Swampies maintaining the lead from the first few minutes through the game, despite us breaking even in the second half. The rats walking away winners by 18 points.

Despite another loss, Falcon was gracious in defeat.

In a resume-material performance, Freofalcon exposed sportsmaniac89's frailties. - 100m from 0 to 100.

While a rift began appearing between the playing group and the coach…

Thanks Swampies, sorry I wasn't around much.

But WTF is going on Warriors? Is Brad_Hardie still our coach?

If so I demand his immediate public beheading. If not hire him again, followed shortly after by the public beheading.

Round 14
28 October 2018
East Side Hawks vs Coney Island Warriors at Waverley Park

Optimism was high heading into Rd 14...

Gday Hawks. Line up in an orderly queue for this week's rogering.

... cos I can only take one reaming at a time.

SIM goes first, then whichever lucky prick is on your right wing.

My form these days is more like #thestroke

As pants looked for unorthodox methods of arresting the slump…

Shit, hopefully the season ends very soon so I can't drop us out of finals contention.

The Hawks hosted us at Waverley, as they celebrated skipper TFW’s 200th game
.

East Side Hawks 14.9 (93) defeated Coney Island Warriors 4.10 (34)

Another poor start, and another big deficit at half time, with the Hawks piling on 8 goals to our two at the main break. A scoreless third quarter sealed our fate, as we were crushed by 59 points as the Hawks celebrated their skipper’s milestone in style.

Falcon was once again a good sport.

I was waiting till after the game to say "suck shit on your 200th" to The Filth Wizard but the Sim denied me that pleasure.

Congrats on your win and congrats to The Filth Wizard on his milestone.

While a hospitalised IMS was determined to make a difference..

I'm out of hospital and ready to contribute and see what happens in this ga.....

What the actual ****!!!!

Wow

Time for IMS to return to his former glory, earn back a spot in the midfield and turn this shit around.

...and pants started to feel the pressure, as the much feared pantskyle curse kicked into second gear

Whoops. My bad.

Round 15
4 November 2018
Coney Island Warriors vs Baghdad Bombers at Van Cortlandt Park

So the curse rolled on in earnest as we neared the end of the home and away season, with the Bombers the next cab off the rank.

Tony was interested in a tour of the Factory, and I was happy to oblige

I can show you what the injury factory looks like inside you on Sunday if you like?

Best,

TIF

While comewhatmay gave me a pep talk, of sorts, with spirits a little low.

We're too embarrassed to show our faces

Just don't go handing them your arse

And pants was starting to feel the pinch.

Was thinking to myself this morning, wonder who we are playing, hmm it's Wednesday why no match thread yet.
So I decided to take a look.
Hi Bombers, I'm probably being dropped this week but how do you do?

Coney Island Warriors 17.12 (114) lost to Baghdad Bombers 20.13 (133)

Another week, another loss as the curse seemed determined to wreck what began as an unstoppable season of the Wazza. After a tight first quarter, the Bombers ran away with the game, surging to a 19 point win in a shootout.

Despite a big bag of 8 goals for BigJoeD_ it still wasn’t enough. Freofalcon (18 hitouts, 27 touches) was huge again in an epic ruck battle with Matty numbers, rookie winger TiF (28 disposals, 6 marks) gave us plenty of outside run, and candiehappy (22 touches, 7 marks) held his own on the inside.

zackah was disappointed we loost…

We loost badly

While team man Freofalcon was his typical humble self.

One of my teams best?

Head and shoulders above.

Two in a row?
"Yeah sorry boss, gunna have to take a knee next week, got two massive BnFs to run back to back for my fantasy football team and I'm putting in a bit of a bender, can't see myself coming in"

"Yes, the one with pantskyle, yes that's the one."

"OK great. When did you need me to bring my uniform back?"

Round 16
11 November 2018 (Remembrance Day Round)
West Coast Wonders vs Coney Island Warriors at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia

We headed to Indonesia for remembrance round in Rd 16 because, ummm, yeah.

Ant Bear showed a naive understanding how curses work.

Tip: Just have a feeling that the Warriors aren’t cooked yet. Coney Island to squeak past the Wonders.

While Woosh pined for greener surrounds

I’ve been to Indonesia 3 times so you can have my spot..I’d rather go to Amsterdam with the lucky Hawks and Demons druggies.

1576239367351.png

West Coast Wonders 15.10 (100) defeated Coney Island Warriors 11.3 (69)

So even after escaping the land of Sweet, the pantskyle curse still bit as hard as ever, as the Wonders broke the game apart in the final quarter, with their 4 goals to our single major sealing the victory in Indo, as they cruised to a 31 point win.

In wet and rainy conditions, BigJoeD_ hit the scoreboard with 4 majors, while zackah (20 touches), candiehappy (17 touches 9 marks), Packedlunch (also with 17 touches, 9 marks) and Freofalcon (10 hitouts, 17 touches) were our best.

With the club giving us a couple days downtime before heading back to Sweet, Woosh’s thoughts quickly turned to the local delicacies.

Holy f***en moly

See you next week Broken

Thanks for a sweet week Wonders, time to hit the Bintang and ladyboys.

While pants was looking for somewhere to hide…

Leaderboard with 1 round to go in the home and away season sees ruckman Freofalcon build a near unassailable lead, with a run of 1 BOG and two runner up efforts between rounds 13-16 taking his season tally up to 41 votes, with candiehappy up into second place with 26 votes, closely followed by DapperJong still hanging onto third spot with 25 votes.

Round 17
18 November 2018 (Final Round)
Coney Island Warriors vs Roys FFC at Van Cortlandt Park

As we entered the last round of the home and away season, hosting the Roys at the VCP and needing to win to keep our finals hopes alive, it was fair to say an ordinary run of form had left with a bad taste in our mouths.

We played in Indonesia all week and the only coffee available came out of the arse of a cat.

pants embraced the new normal…

Cursed person checking in.

While the Roys were determined to outcurse our curse.

We have Broken ... and we're the Roys. You can't out-cursed us.

It’s fair to say both sides were full of confidence heading into the clash.

1576240764924.png

Coney Island Warriors 16.14 (110) defeated Roys FFC 13.12 (90)

So it turns out, the Broken curse overpowered the pantskyle curse in the end, as we managed to hold on to a finals spot with a plucky 20 point win over the good old Roys, an eight goal to four second half sealing the victory and sending us through to an elimination final.

BigJoeD_ sealed his FRED medal win with a huge 7 goal effort…

1576241368020.png

While down the other end, #ironcurtains Woosh kept Roys FF Mooch goalless.

Misfiring veteran Itsmyshow (20 touches, 5 marks, 1 goal 5 behinds) , wingman DapperJong (23 disposals, 3 marks and a goal) and inside mids zackah (24 touches, 10 tackles) and pantskyle (21 touches, 4 tackles) rounding out our best.

It looked like the curse had finally been lifted…

SlightSleepyBunting-size_restricted.gif

#curseisbroken

As Woosh set expectations high for the coming finals series…

And zackah and Warren have a blinder

Great work mate I expect spew and diarrhoea every week in finals

While pants was overcome with emotion.

Wooshette Medal

In Season 26, skipper Frankston Rover announced that the leading goalkicker each season for the Coney Island Warriors would be crowned with the Wooshette Medal.

There was only ever one contender in Season 26, a player who went on to have a massive season in front of the sticks, booting the 3rd most goals in a season for the club, behind only Reginald Perrin (84 goals in S21) and Stronzo (82 goals in S19).

Registering 77 goals from 18 games, he not only lead the club, but also lead the league goalkicking tally, registering his first FRED medal in the process, just the 2nd in the club's history after Reginald Perrin managed the feat in S21.

The winner of the inaugural Wooshette Medal for Season 26 is BigJoeD_

Congrats BigJoeD_!

Life Membership

Congratulations Wooshette, Dips, Frankston Rover & zackah

This season saw the first intake of Life Members to the club, with 4 Warriors earning the honour in S26.

First to gain life membership was Wooshette, having been bestowed the honour of the club's first inductee by founder & club skipper Frankston Rover.

Next to earn the honour was Smoooothy in Round 8, closely followed by the skipper himself Frankston Rover in Round 9, with zackah earning life membership in Round 12.

Congratulations to all our newly minted life members, enjoy your year round pass to the whore tree and your well worn butt grooves in the couch in the player's lounge. You've earned it.

Finals Week One
First Elimination Final - 25 November 2018
Coney Island Warriors v East Side Hawks at Van Cortlandt Park

So even after losing 6 of our last 7 matches, we headed into a finals series full of confidence, with the pantskyle curse lifted and a win and some belief back under our belt. Our opponents the Hawks, the lucky benefactors of our last round win against the Roys that allowed them to sneak into 8th spot travelled to VCP to take us on at our home ground and the stage was set for a classic.

Rookie TiF was the first to extend a welcome…

These guys made it in?

giphy.gif

You're welcome.

While an up and about pants called it how he saw it.

Look at these two *******s, up and about because they snuck into finals.

And candie let it be known what the Hawks could expect come Sunday

As Keating said, we'll do you slowly ....

As he dispensed with the pleasantries…

the rest of the league wanted to play you guys first up

1576250393061.png

Coney Island Warriors 8.5 (53) lost to East Side Hawks 16.8 (104)

In rainy conditions, we were absolutely dismantled, as a ten goal to three first half demoralised us and silenced our stunned fans, and from there the Hawks cruised to a 51 point victory and a berth in the semi finals, as we were left to ponder what could have been, in a tale of two seasons.

In a disappointing day for us, DapperJong (24 possessions, 4 marks) was best on, with rookie mid TheInjuryFactory (21 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles) and the ever reliable candiehappy (19 touches, 3 marks, 1 goal) solid, Freofalcon (13 hitouts, 16 touches) gave us first use and beat his direct opponent on the day, and Morganashlee (16 touches, 3 marks) provided some run from defence.

And like that, it was time to say goodbye for season 26 as we looked ahead to Mad Monday.

Is it over?

Did we lose?

Good.

I don't have to pretend that I care anymore.

Off season, here I come. See ya suckers.

You’ll like the off season. We get drunk and post shit.

So much like the regular season really.

We have fun

A cup would be fun too but siiiiigh not this day...

S26 Frankston Rover Medal

Congratulations Freofalcon!

Enjoying a rampaging S26, ruckman Freofalcon finished on 42 votes, 12 clear of his next challenger, to romp home to a Frankston Rover Medal win. This is his second Frankston Rover Medal, and he becomes the first Warrior to win multiple medals in the club's history, after winning his first in S24.

Finishing top 10 in the competition for Dreamteam points, kicks, and hitouts he was a dominant force in Season 26, giving our midfield sliver service and contributing strongly in the middle and around the ground.

His most dominant performance of the season coming in our thrilling Round 10 win over the Las Vegas Bears by 3 points, Freofalcon starring with 28 disposals, 12 hitouts and 3 goals in a best on ground effort.

So please, charge your glasses to the Season 26 Frankston Rover Medallist...
