Confirmed: Cousins WAS tested after Mainy's death

I find it strange how so many WCE fans are denying Ben has a problem at all let alone admitting that all things stated in the past few days do not make things look good.

Ben is yet to be found not guilty and denying a test actually puts the onus on the offender as being guilty until proven innocent.

Is there a reference for what is being discussed in this thread about the Dr's statement?

There probably are a few in denial but very few. Ben needs LOTS of help.

He's a knob for refusing the test.

The doctors interview was on ch7 on the 6pm news in Perth so I'm not sure if there will be a transcript.

Thanks for that

There may be further prints by the press on it later... which is what I was after.

I for one admire Ben as a player and am one of those who thought the Eagles were short changed on Judd so to me its not an Eagles ego or lets get Ben thing.

To me its getting this drug culture cleaned up for the betterment of the game and if some things hurt offending clubs or players fans relating to substance abuse then the job is getting done regarding a wake up call

Any lies of unfounded rumours are not helping the actual people caught up in all this.

Spend time with the people left behind and showing what a true friend he is. I would not have cared less if he did or did not have a drug test but for the fact its been trumpeted around as if it absolves him of any wrongdoing in Mainwarings death ( I will leave any of those conclusions to a coroner)

mmmmm:rolleyes:

First the club tried to spin it, then they didnt then the doctor comes out.... its as if they havent gotten their stories straight and making things up as they go

That's just typical of an organisation trying to stick their fingers in the dam wall.

Do doctors still have some esteem left in society that we cant or wont call liar when one makes a statement?

Probably not, but its his word against.......well no-ones.

I actually for once agree with the Caro article either yesterday or today. West Coast need to put a broom through the place, no matter what the cost. :(

Who requested the test?

Who was he to report his findings to?

And was the drug test done Olympic, WADA, ASADA style where the tester gives the testee the bottle and gets up close and personal to make sure the relevant part of the anatomy gets close enough or in the bottle so that there is no doubt whose urine it is? Or did the Doc say, here you go Ben fill this up and he went to the loo and did it, Not having a go at anyone, but there have been plenty of documented examples where people being tested for both Performance Enhancing Drugs and/or Illicit drugs have swaped urine samples. Even an example of a Bulgarian (or eastern bloc) weightlifter, inserting a tube up the eye of his penis and injection someone else's urine to make sure he gave a clean sample.

Sorry but I'm just a sceptical bastard. Read too many stories of cheating the tests over the years. On the otherhand a blood test is is pretty hard to falsify

All I can say is ouch! re; the injecting part

clearly the whole drug taking thing is being blown way way out of proportion if it was that bad he couldn hold his weight strenght etc look he prob was on them but hardly a junkie by no means just another east v west battle what did ALAN DIDAK do why dont we remember that how many underworld murders do u see over here i guarantee not as many as the east look in ur own backyard before u decide to make assumptions

Only danger in the east was taking the kids to Auskick.

Just to get this cleared up.

On Ch 7, club doctor Rod Moore confirmed he did conduct a test on Cousins on the evening of Mainy's passing. Result was negative.

Moore didnt tell Nisbett or the club because it had nothing to do with them. Doctor/patient confidentiality etc.

A fairly useless statement by the good Doctor unless he clarifies when the test were done. Drugs such as Coke and E and Ice allegedly clear from the system within 10 - 12 hours. A test on the afternoon/evening after Mainwaring's death would not have necessarily detect any drugs used on the evening Cousin's was allegedly twice dropping 'food' off to Mainwaring.

A specific drug testing kit was used. Pretty sure it includes a blood and urine sample.

So, to be straight Ben offers and volunteers to do a test when no-one asks him to him, cause he thinks he needs to prove everyone wrong

But when he needs to prove everyone wrong, and the police ask him to do it, he refuses

Hmm this seems sensible to me

I think it is reasonable to assume that whatever amended contract Ben/WCE/AFL agreed to earlier this year, it would have specified that random and/or mandatory drug testing was required, and would have stipulated a standard to which the test must be performed (ie testing for which substances, protocols to use, frequency of testing, presence of observers, etc).

I'm sure the club would have been "kept in the loop" of the results (positve or negative) of these tests through the season, as Ben's contract was dependent on the results of them. Anyone who thinks you have a player on a performance based contract, yet not track their performance has rocks in their head.

That WCE admin have this week said that they are unaware if any tests were undertaken follwoing Mainwaring's death (the circumstances around which Ben's contract would be relevant), and what the results were, is (in my opinion) negligence or an untruth.

The Eagles would have had their own pre-requisites
Cripes their coach (Worsfold) is a fully qualified pharmacist.

you idiot.

its perth media (mainly ex-WCE players) that have turned it into an east V's west thing

the whole puff piece in the news was a load of crap - channel 7 exclusive apparently

i'm pretty sure if there was a test that nisbett and co would have been told about it - the whole spin of doctor/patient confidentiality is laughable

Laughable. WADA/ASADA can pack up and go home now cos the family doc can do all the tests. Who needs testing and sampling protocols and integrity when youve Doc Rod Moore and wouldnnt lie to his granny Cuz.

Maybe he was clean the first time, but not the second. That seems sensible to me. ;)

Allegedly it is Mainy's death that pushed him over the edge again.

maybe not though, an Australian article I read this morning, said he was out and about partying hard during the season proper. That Worsfold bagged him out in front of the team after the Collingwood game.
