Congrats GWS, your midfield is moulding together nicely... Scully, Ward, Palmer and also Power as the general will be a great asset next season.

Was always going to happen. Good haul so far, now some of the more interesting names may come out

Was always going to happen. No doubt he'll stab you in the back one day too. Enjoy him though, should be a good player. I really hope Melbourne re-group from this and many other crap times this year.

However, make no mistake though:

We're coming for your club and for Tom. The rivalry begins.

Reluctant congratulations are in order. You have just taken one of the best young talents in the league. Words cannot express how disappointing and unfair this is but the AFL put this system in place and it is not GWS's fault for playing it perfectly.

Sorry that you had to lose a promising kid for us to gain one. He does look a great prospect with his speed and footy smarts. Hopefully his knee is not a chronic issue and more to do with growing issues.

I hope you guys get a great kid with the compensation that you recieve, MFC is a great club, and with the core of top young talent and a new coach you should bounce back hard in 2012.

So is this the 12 noon broadcast or is it something else. Maybe a player from Saints or Bombers seeing they finished footy on the weekend. Maybe both. Now that would be exciting

Scully and Goddard to make my day

Congrats on the signing

However $6m over 6 years is high risk considering Scully's size (he is never going to be a big bodied mid), the fact that he has only played 31 games and not to mention his dicky knee

Let's hope that this decision does not come back to haunt the club

You can see why they've gone after him. The kid's a good speaker, and acquits himself with the utmost confidence. Smart choice, now he's just got to follow through on the field.

Well done to GWS, but it is an absolute disgrace that the AFL has allowed young players such as Scully and Davis to be poached with such ridiculous contracts.
Surely the intention should have been for GWS to attract some established players (ie- Ablett, Bock, Brown last year to GC) to compliment the players they pillage from the Draft, not to rip the hearts out of rebuilding clubs by taking the very players they are trying to rebuild around!

Such is life.

I noticed Sheedy said more announcements could be expected Thurs/Fri. With the Saints and Bombers being eliminated from finals, do you think the next announcement might relate to a player from one of these clubs?

Wonder what you'll say when they go after and get Hurley.

The GW$cavengers got the mercenary $cully, who obviously decided last October and lied all year.

If they actually get Hurley I'll be surprised, but it's the New Frontier. Can't really do anything but lie down and take it.

Considering that the club backed Hurley after his indiscretion and helped him, it'd be a massive dog act on his behalf, but Essendon isn't nearly the off-field basket case that Melbourne is, so I'm confident for the time being.

It is unfortunate that a club that is struggling like Melbourne loses one of their brighter prospects but GWS did make moves to sign the likes of Pendlebury, Swan and Daisy from Collingwood but all of them re-signed.

Perhaps the greater question is how do Collingwood manage to keep all their gun players and still sign the likes of Ball and Jolly as well.

Up here in rugby league all teams have turnover of players to remain compliant with the salary cap but is seems some clubs in the AFL can make their own rules.

If the likes of Collingwood actually lost a player it might make the likes of Melbourne less vulnerable, particularly when they are already doing it tough.

True re: MFC, hopefully sorted soon. About Hurley though, integrity goes out the door when filty lucre is involved. Good Luck.

I believed $cully, how gullible. I wouldn't want to play poker with him. Poker Face.

I'm curious, how does one become a fan of a club that hasn't kicked a footy in anger?
I've lived in GWS for all of my 21 years, went to school in GWS, played footy in GWS, went to uni in GWS, work in GWS. Seems like a logical progression to follow the Giants. Good enough for you?

Been to half a dozen of their home games this year. Plenty of footies kicked in anger.

Does GW$ just have a script that it gets all new draftees to read off?

At least Rhys Palmer could legitimately be pissed off for not getting regular game time at Fremantle. For the rest it's 100% money.
