News Confirmed: Scully to GWS

Same can be said about every other new club that has started out in history. It just happened that it was Melbourne who lost a really good player this time. This stuff will happen again and the Giants will probaley loose a player or 2 to new expansion clubs in x amount of years. But that's life. You win some and you loose some.

Loosing a player from a club is like a small cut.
Loosing a football club is like death.
Yes you both have lost something. But people loose players all the time. You're not the firts club to loose a player to another club.

It's losing, man

Congrats on getting Scully, he will no doubt be a champion for your side, BTW give Melbourne as little as possible as they Tanked to get him in the first place and were quite happy to rape Freo when thay took White off them.

Tanked through years of hurt to the supporters, thank you very much. We didn't have a blank cheque - and broken rules made by AFL to accommodate us. Would have been stupid to do otherwise.

You are about to experience what it is like to truly be the worst side in the competition for a number of years. We went through it on 08/09. The picks come with the territory.

You have poached young players with nothing but AFL money, completed deals under the table and claimed it as above board, ripped the hearts out of supporters (not just Melbourne supporters) despite the fact you will draft players of similar age. If karma does exist, it's on its way to GWS.

Please, please,please....

On another note, I don't get why $heedy's so upset with the Dees as he wouldn't have had this massive opportunity with GW$

Ah, I see what you did there! Replacing the letter S with dollar signs. Clever. Shame it doesn't work on Melbourne, partly because they've got no "S" but mainly because they've got no dollars.

You win some, you lose some! That's life. Get used to it! Yes you did "lose" by Scully signing with us. But you did "win" with the awesome compensation picks.

Seriously, Scully isn't the first player to change clubs! Yes it sucks for you guys. But going on and on about it isn't going to get him back!

So Dr Peter Larkins was his treating physician for these knee injuries? Or just an "expert"?

Would this be news if he'd simply re-signed with Melbourne?

He does happen to work at the same sports medicine clinic as Melbourne's club doctor, so he's not just some random expert giving a random opinion.

So his dad now has a full time job with the club, what a surprise.
Only became public after the papers contacted them about it. If it is a legitimate job then why is it under the salary cap?
What a joke and a rort this whole expansion team is becoming.

A bit like Judd at Carlton really.

Hahaha, ZING!! Carlton supporters being judgemental about this is a bit rich isnt it? next thing you know they'll be questioning clubs over salary cap issues.:thumbsu:

Yes, Carlton cheated the salary cap and almost got penalized out of existence.
They were not the only club to cheat, Essendon, Melbourne, and pretty much most other clubs did too.
Judd has a 3rd party deal with Visy, 120 other players in the AFL do too. One in fact is on a bigger deal than Judd. Judd was also such deals when he was with
WCE yet that is never brought up.
This is totally different. GWS poached a player with millions of dollars and now it appears that his dad is being paid $200,000 a year, more than experienced talent scouts. The AFL thought is so dodgy that they made GWS put the salary under the salary cap. Next we will hear is that his mum is being paid to cut the oranges.
Coincidence that your CEO has resigned, or was he sacked?
And why shouldnt Carlton question other clubs over their salary caps. Richmond got away with players going into business with its president and then suing when this went belly up. Melbourne cheated in a bigger way than Carlton, was much more over and also paid players outside the cap, Garry Lyon and David Schwartz for example. Essendon got caught for bigger breaches and are the only team to win a flag in a year that they got caught (1993). I think Carlton and its supporters think they got hard done by and other clubs get away with breaches on a yearly basis.

As a member who has no real power in how their often poorly managed football club is run I have a certain degree of empathy for anyone else who loves their club but is an indirect victim of poor management practices.

However, when Carlton supporters stand up & say " he/she/they cheated but we were the only ones to get punished" - it just ain't so! Yes clubs such as Essendon & Melbourne breached the salary cap by paying players under the table - but when an amnesty was offered they admitted their sins and were punished accordingly. Meanwhile Honest John Elliott's response to the amnesty was the typical "we're Carlton & f the rest" attitude, so the systematic cheating and rorting Carlton were caught up in continued. Carlton copped their right whack for cheating and lying and no-one else is to blame but the board at the time. Your sense of indignity would be best directed at Elliott, Collins & co.

Come on Slander, don't let facts get in the way of a good rant!
