West Coast megastar Tim Kelly wants to finish his career as an Eagle but there are yet to be any contract talks between the two parties, The West Australian can reveal.

The 30-year-old is entering the final season of his monster six-year deal that came as part of one of the most controversial trades in WA football history where the Eagles gave away two first round picks to land him from Geelong.

The West understands the midfielder is seeking a two to three year extension — which would see him remain at the club for the rest of his career — but the parties are understood to be nowhere near an agreement.
The Eagles have already begun locking away stars, with The West Australian revealing last week that reigning club champion and five-time All-Australian Jeremy McGovern was closing in on a one-year extension at the club.

Tom Cole, Jamie Cripps, Jayden Hunt, Jack Petruccelle and Dom Sheed are also free agents at West Coast.

Draiper has shown he is a genuine midfielder with appealing attributes that will translate to afl . The fact he played so well on ball in the sanfl proves that .

Has bo Allen shown that he will translate to afl midfield?

Time will tell, he does have the athletic ability but its his production im worried about .

We keep drafting guys with great physical attributes that have no idea how to find the ball. We end up sending them back or forward

Venables, duggan , chesser , ginbey and bo Allen all struggle/struggled with production playing midfield
Draper averaged 4 more disposals at the champs this year.

Draiper went into the carnival under done

Once he got his fitness back he did this

The second half of the year saw Draper enter a purple patch of form, with the teenager featuring in six games at the senior SANFL level for the Panthers. He would be able to replicate similar numbers against some of the best state league opposition in the country, going at 22.2 disposals, 3.7 inside 50s, 4.7 clearances, 4.5 score involvements and 6.2 tackles during his spell for South Adelaide, adding to a trio of promising performances at the same level a year ago.

Interesting that they haven’t had any discussions.

If you had asked me that 3 years ago I would have agreed. The fact that he hasn't really improved over the last 2 years is a massive red flag.
There's no such thing as a draft steal at pick #46😂 Every recruiter in the country passed on him more than once for a reason.
Next minute, 3 first rounders for a pick #39

Just read this little beauty from a draft guru, writing his opinion on Nat Fyfe.
“not enough strength/power for midfield and probably not enough pace/penetration in his game for wing or HBF role”
I think it’s a reasonable thing to think that until for example Bo Allan and Sid Draper have played 100 games each, maybe opinions on how good they will end up, are just pure guesswork and speculation, maybe they should be tempered a little bit, with a touch of humility???

I'd say it's a little better than just guesswork but yea think the sentiment is fair. Historically the odds of being a better player if drafted top 5 is significantly higher. That doesn't mean people outside the top 5 don't hit and those in the top 5 are guaranteed just notable in historical drafts. This draft probably does have the best chance to be an outlier I'd say as there are arguments for just about anyone in the top 20 odd to be the best player in 10 years, maybe not the GWS guys. Got to think that the recruiting teams have some sort of a clue sometimes.

I’m well aware what he did at SANFL level, he was a key mid in a below average side,

Allan wasn’t afforded the same opportunity playing for the stacked premiers but still performed well with the opportunity given.

Again, I would have taken Draper at the pick but he wasn’t this flawless obvious prospect, very little between them.

Minor quibble, Jayden Hunt is out of contract, but he is not a free agent given he came across from Melbourne and doesn't have the length of service with us.

He was a free agent when we got him if you finish your contract at your new club you are a free agent again .

Didn't think Kelly was a free agent dont you have to have 8 years at one club ?

After my initial melt, I'm willing to think last trade period was a concoction of lots of factors that led to the infamous trade and are unlikely (i hope) to occur again:

1. New coach - needed help and support from players that could help implement his game style from the get go
2. Don wanting WC to go out of its way to show this support for Andrew
3. A stacked and even draft board where almost nobody wanted to trade up, limiting WC's options
4. Matthew Clarke being brand spanking new and not communicating with Hawthorn
5. Less so on this factor but Harley wanting WC to improve our performances will help. That will help secure his signature

As keys stated our draft crew saved our trading crew. To get Jobe as a second was more luck than skill imo. However that was a very good draft and I'd surmise we have at least 3 players that will play for a long time not including the 3 recruits.

On Bo Allan, yes he does scream the habitual HBF that WC will try to turn into a midfielder. However the boy can play, was never going to get midfield time for the WAFL premier but to actually get a spot in that team does have meaning.

Allan played midfield in last year’s WAFL grand final and did well. Showed speed, strength, and toughness.

I was impressed with his performance and glad we were able to draft him.
