reckon you have nailed it
There's a lot that points towards him coming home:

1. Every off season, he spends in Perth. He seemed to have some deal with the Swans to do his footy clinics in Perth. I'd imagine they are contract obligations and he told the Swans he'd be in Perth, so sort it for Perth.
2. Even last week, he stayed the extra few days in Perth after the Freo game.
3. He bought a house in Perth. It could be for his parents, but I suspect it's for him.
4. He golfed with Pyke and Jack.
5. After it was reported he's going to sign, his answer was "not yet decided".

I don't think he's the type to try and milk Sydney for a bit more. The offer they have made is very generous. He could just be playing his cards close to his chest (a good life strategy). Or he could be, "I was always leaving, and I'm still leaving".

1 This has been a thing for both Chad and Logan since COVID lockdowns and we had the border up. Border came down but they still let the WA boys have a few luxuries as they go home less during the season
2 All the WA boys (including the ones not in the AFL squad) came home. Logan, Sheldrick, Corey, Buller were all home for the 4 days.
3 Yep
4 Yep
5 This is super interesting. He might be making Sydney sweat and see if they up their offer by another 50-100k or maybe we upped our offer, or maybe he has made up his mind to come home and is just playing along.

I will say that interview at the airport was interesting. I did not expect him to answer the questions in that way.

All this and what Phil said, there is still a bit playing out.
I don't think he is trying to milk Sydney for a bit more, they threw their last and biggest offer at him in the reported 2 year deal recently to change his mind.

If Phil is correct and I suspect he is, if Sydney won the GF last year he might already be here!
WC offer is very significant and long term, as soon as Oscar signs his deal I think WC would be feeling fairly confident Warner's commitment won't be too far away.

"I was always leaving, and I'm still leaving at end 2025" has been very much on the cards since last trade period imo.
Would take the wheels to massively fall off WC for something to turn against us imo.

Beyond even what he said it's interesting that he chose to give an interview at all. Plenty of players manage to walk past a TV crew at an airport without stopping to give their tips for the weekend. Hard not to read into it as taking a chance to have his say after a bunch of people put words in his mouth earlier this week.

Why is next week so important?

With all the recent chatter of him staying and the rumored end of feb deadline Swans originally put on him id say it's a key week.

If you were going to have a $1.4m a year to spend you’d love to know asap. Especially if a couple of key forwards are in play or a ruck they have thrown everything at before. TDK, Oscar and JUH

Does go against Cox saying he knows it’s a massive decision and he can takes as long as he needs. Pretty much what a Coach is going to say all the time.

Anyone know what’s happening with Busslinger at WB ?
Apparently he shot himself in the foot.
Seriously he made a dumb decision
With Lobb reinventing himself as a backman he is way back in the pack.
O'donnell played as a forward today but usually plays back and Buku is ahead of him as a third tall.
Unless Jones or Lobb gets inured or retires he will be in the wilderness.

Lobb and Jones are still playing great footy with no real signs of slowing yet either.

They have Croft who cant break into the side as it is too, and he may need to play as a KPD to get opportunities.

Rough for Busslinger

Dev Robertson Jed Busslinger could’ve come to West Coast and played AFL but stayed to play reserves at his existing club instead

Some poor advice from their player managers...

Dev could be well on his way to 100 games by now, instead he's lost in the VFL...

I wonder if we will have another go at the end of the year, could be a cheap swap of 3rd/4th rounders

Certainly some interesting comments from Ch.Warner (perhaps most notably because there was no expectation for him to say anything at all).

Complete speculation, but it almost sounds like he is trying to work out what H.Reid's plans are before he makes his own decision.

I don't think so. He's still easily worth our first pick plus a future first with Sydney's first coming back. I think there's a fair bit of playing about going on. I was there in the thick of it last year and he was coming if the Swans won the GF.

I think there's a lot to play out and a lot has to do with Oscar and Harley as well.

(His Mrs 100% wants to be back in WA and dislikes it there almost as much as I hate Victoria)
Not sure how one can dislike living in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. I did it from 2014-2018 and it was incredible

Think the scuttlebutt was he has an intense fear of flying, so was happy to stay in Victoria now he's settled there

Watched the Port game on Thursday.
Moraes would have been an excellent pick up for our team. Think we mightve missed one there.

Silky midfielder who already looks like hes been in thr AFL system for years
What's his disposal like, though? In u18s, he certainly knew how to get the ball, but I think there was a knock on his disposal. If this is the case, when you're in the flag window, you don't want these players.
