BREAKING: The 40km buffer zone for cross border communities will be reinstated from midnight on Thursday, the Premier says.

The Premier also revealed that home gatherings will increase to 50 and border restrictions with NSW and ACT are likely to be eased within the next two weeks.

Hopefully these easings of restrictions means they will lift Adelaide Oval capacity back to 20,000

Usain Bolt tests positive for coronavirus

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating at his home in Jamaica, after last week celebrating his 34th birthday with a mask-free party.

Jamaica's health ministry confirmed that Bolt, who holds world records in the 100m and 200m distances, had tested positive, after he posted a video on social media around midday saying he was waiting to hear back on his results.

"Just to be safe I quarantined myself and just taking it easy," Bolt said in the message that he appeared to have filmed himself while lying in bed.

It was posted with the caption: "Stay safe my ppl".

The only sprinter to win the 100m and 200m golds at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012 and 2016), Bolt said he did not have any symptoms of COVID-19.

Breaking: WA Government loses in its bid for fresh court challenge against Palmer

The Federal Court has ruled Western Australia’s interstate border closure is more effective at keeping COVID-19 out of the state than any other measure.

The court ruled that the re-introduction of the virus into WA could have “catastrophic” consequences.

But WA has lost its bid for a fresh trial in the case, to strike out evidence presented by the Commonwealth during an earlier hearing.

The constitutional challenge to the border closure, mounted by Clive Palmer, is now set to be decided in the High Court later this year.

This sounds like spin

Police Commissioner Stevens said 65-67,,000 people have taken the Covid marshall on line training and been certified but he doesn't think that is enough people who have done the training.

He wouldn't give a number he thinks is needed, but he said given number of businesses and activities and day + afternoon shifts required to have covid marshalls there have been examples where compliance officers have gone out to check and non compliance has been observed, with businesses to fulfil all obligations. Says most cases have been misunderstanding or lack of understanding of obligations, rather than blatant breach.

Marshall said he spoke to Gil on Friday. state is making its submission tomorrow and Marshall talking to AFL on Thursday, thinks the AFL want to make a decision later this week or early next week.

I was at a Westfield Shopping Centre this morning and didn't see a COVID marshal in sight. Went to Woolies this afternoon and again no Marshalls in sight and poor social distancing near checkouts and in the aisles. So far the only Marshalls I have seen have been at the local pub.

Youngest son went out Sat night to a local tavern.
Said no marshalls there.
Heaps of people incl standing and drinking, etc.
They went elsewhere after a while.
Clearly breaches of protocol happening in some places.

Amazing that people struggle with staying home while waiting for results of covid tests. I'm in isolation pending the results of a test I had yesterday (seriously doubt I have it) and I'm loving the opportunity to put my feet up.

I haven't been at any games since the St Kilda game, so nobody stress.

Have noticed same in cafes.
Some thoroughly wiping down everything in between guests, others crumbs and mess left all over tables.
They have reduced staff due to reduced capacity, must make it difficult.
Last week at one venue I was given my coffee in a dirty cup with lipstick stains on the rim. They promply replaced it after I brought it to their attention. Was orobably a one off..but still.

Victoria's latest figures: 149 new cases and 24 deaths. A particularly sad day for deaths. That's the second highest number recorded. The seven day average for new cases is still trending downwards but test numbers are down I believe.

They Need to put Marshalls On Every Corner So I Feel Safe Again

As a general rule I'm in favour of the restrictions and recognise their importance but this 'COVID marshall' stuff is an absolute pointless wank.

oh no latest news usain bolt had an illegal maskless party and there were droplets of illness spraying around everywhere what a fool if there was a COVID MARSHALL present none of that would have happened

Victoria are back to 1% positive tests despite lower numbers. Until Victoria get down to weeks of 0.3% or less they will continue to rack up the deaths unfortunately.

New York State with population of 19.5mil are still doing 60,000 to 70,000 tests a day and recording 600 to 700 positives a day and have been recording about 10 +or- a few deaths a day since start of July.
