SEVEN News just posted the results of a news poll on SA exemptions to COVID-19 border quarantine. 84% of those polled favour NO exemptions. Looks like the Premier and his CMO's 'have a heart stance' is not popular with the rest of the State.

According to SEVEN Madam X is now at the Pullman in quarantine and still hasn't seen her dying parent. At this rate she may as well have stayed in Melbourne for the two weeks quarantine.
Overall Marshall and Nicola have handled COVID-19 quite well, however they've dropped the ball on this one and public perception can change very quickly. They'd be best to come out and admit they ****ed up (hard thing to do for politicians and bureaucrats, I know) and crack down on these 'special exemptions'.

I heard on the radio news bulletin this morning that SA's border exemption rules have been tightened. Hopefully it means, 'that which is in quarantine stays in quarantine regardless of circumstance'.

I know its a first world problem, but yes that realisation has sunk in.

I'm wondering whether travel insurance will cover getting sick from covid, I very much doubt it.
You will probably be able to travel, but if you get sick you had better have $100k sitting in the bank to cover it, or plan to only visit countries like Denmark and Norway.

I think Europe is off the cards for a long time if we go with the elimination approach.

Premier McGowan in WA has been riding a popularity wave too, but he got egg on his face yesterday for claiming the Feds hadn't told the WA authorities about infected people on a sheep ship that docked in Fremantle, but it turned out that they had, and the info hadn't been passed up the line to him. No apology given - just said that the authorities had been working very hard, blah, blah, need for better communication, blah, blah. He'll be okay with the opinion polls though, unless the Weagles stay in The High Performance Centre extends to months...

How has SAHealth ****ed up here?

What power does SAHealth to have to stop someone getting on a plane in Victoria?

I assume we approved the exemption for her to travel initially. Then is is on the Vice for sending without notice.

They're way to cool for that.

The story has since changed as Victoria Health have said they did provide details and Nicola Spurrier has backtracked on her earlier comment about not knowing when Madam X was arriving. She now says her earlier, 'we did not know' statement was based on an 'administrative error'.

Someone has stuffed this up somewhere along the line. The Premier and SA Health are in damage control so we are never going to know the exact sequence of events.

This has not been a good 48 hours for Nicola Spurrier and SA Health.

Regardless the cost of all this has been ridiculous, testing, policce escorts, medics on arrival etc!

What are the rules for Interstate travellers atm? Girl at work says her Auntie just arrived from Qld for a funeral, on this exemption thing, but no quarantine period, free to come and go as she pleases.
Well yeah, thats what the exemption is, so people don't have to go through a quarantine period.
