Hahn Super Dry is $8.70 for vegemite glass at one of the local pubs in my area. So there will be a pub that is dearer than AO.

Hahn Super Dry is $7.80 and $7.50 for an SA pint at the two pubs I usually frequent. If the truth be know they probably have a bigger mark up on soft drink than they do beer.

Victoria will today announce 428 cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, according to multiple sources.

Premier Daniel Andrews is expected to give a press conference at 11.30am.

Victoria recorded its single highest day-to-day increase for the state yesterday, with 317 new cases recorded.

Mr Andrews called that figure “relatively stable”, saying it will “take some time” before we see a pattern in which they’re driven down.

The Russian response is entirely predictable. It is all a Western plot to discredit Russia blah blah. On the subject of trust I have reached a point where I am not sure I want the PAFC to be involved in China anymore. What concerns me is the reports that the unions forced the Government's hand on the quarantine guard issue. I thought we'd moved on from the union-controlled left to a more inclusive Labor party. I guess that may cause electoral damage, so they'll be keen to uncover any other reason, just as Berejiklian was in NSW.

I am well aware of the CIA's involvement in places like Chile, Indonesia and Nicaragua but of late I haven't noticed western countries knocking off political opponents on Russia's doorstep or any of the western belligerents in the Middle East using weapons of mass destruction against non combatants or a western country using nerve agents to assassinate anyone who dares stand up to an autocratic leader and kill innocent bystanders in the process nor western countries passing urine samples through holes in testing booths at the Olympics. The numbers won't be 100% accurate, not perfect, but they aren't massively ****ed up.

There is an inconsistency the way states record things and not all are following CDC guidelines. A lot of states give both covid actual deaths and probable covid death stats, but many give just actual deaths stats as well as total case numbers and testing numbers. Some give recovery numbers..

Each state produces stats and they report by counties and most counties produce their own stats because counties have control of hospitals via their health laws.

Look at worldometers site and the USA link and they give you links to individual state government sites reporting the stats.

Look at the John Hopkins Uni site and other sites that have maps and breakdowns by state/provinces and by cities/councils/counties.


They all use ESRI's ArcGIS geographic information systems (GIS) software and in a lot of the URL's they have arcgis in it. Eg John Hopkins'

ESRI is a private company has been around since 1969, and is the world's leading GIS company and governments at all 3 levels use their systems in over 100 countries. They have their systems being used by all 50 states and just about all 10,000 counties in the US. They have over 300,000 customers so its not just governments who use their GIS software.

My mate started working for them at HQ in Redlands California last August. He has told me about the range of customers in the government sector and how and why they use the ArcGIS product. Some fascinating stuff they do.

Told me a fair bit about how their systems were being used when the Oz bushfires were going last year and in January and how their software was producing real time data for authorities to fight fires. So all those counties in US that have ArcGIS would be using it for Covid stats.

He has told me some of the stuff that counties and state government are doing with their software for Covid.

John Hopkins Uni is using ArcGIS automatically tapping into the counties and states data, produce by ArcGIS. The CDC is the same.

They just have confirmed where a patient with corona who is retested until they test negative, each positive test is showing up as a new covid case. One person was recorded 15 times as fifteen separate cases, extrapolate that out and on top of that you had places returning either 100% positive results or near like 98%. Nah nah only Trumps lackies would want to hide the numbers, like him or his chronies have made any attempt at all to suppress the numbers, get a grip.

It would be interesting to know where those reports are coming from. The Victorian Opposition maybe? Andrews' strategy has it's critics from within the Union movement. This from 3rd July,

On Thursday Kazim Shah from the United Workers Union said the use of private subcontractors without medical training to run the system meant many saw it as a “moneymaking” exercise and staff were not properly trained or given personal protective equipment (PPE).

“What happened was that the work was given to security companies which was then subleased to subcontractors where there was cost-cutting happening and they were making money out of this,” he explained to the ABC.

“There was no training provided to these security guards which were placed in these hotels which have very highly infectious disease [in them].

He said some staff were given five minutes briefing and told their job was to simply stop people leaving the lobby. Others were given just one mask and a pair of gloves for the day. Many of the guards were too inexperienced to know better.

'What I believe what should have been done is they have medical professionals on the sites where 24/7 they were giving medical advice and instructions,' he said.

'If proper experienced guards were working, they would have flagged all these issues.'
