Yeah that's kind of the point though.

There is no Endgame.

Yes there is. We will either develop a vaccine to eliminate it or improve treatments to manage it better. Remember we’re not even 6 months in and it takes time to validate things. Patience.

And enough with the alcohol/fast food false equivalencies. No one is ducking down to the shops and choosing to buy/consume the Coronavirus FFS.

There's more than a few good reasons for lockdowns as others have already stated also if you can pretty much eliminate community transmission through them you can keep somewhat in front of it & it's easier to deal with/contain a flare up etc. when you ease up.

There will be a vaccine 'endgame' but this is life for now.

What is your educated solution then?
I am sure governments don’t take lockdown lightly.

You have been antii lockdown all along?
I said it before,

Isolate the vunerable let the healthy be.

99% of us will suffer absolutely no effects from this virus. Or minor effects.

If you have a family member that is in the vunerable group unfortunately you have scrutinise social distancing or heavy isolation when visiting.

What we are doing is absolute madness and it's only going to heighten once the jobkeeper bubble bursts.

Do you know how long vaccine take to develop?

Do you know how long they take to be tested?

Please tell us all how long until this endgame?

I don't think lockdowns have been failing all around the world.
Some people's anarchy hasn't helped lockdowns, i.e. the US and Brazil but I wouldn't use them as the norm.
The Swedish approach is a fail.

They said 12-18 months from the outset but even if an effective one isn’t ready by then treatment options are improving all the time and that’s a good Plan B.

So calm ya ****.

You can't do this forever REH. We are sending people insane. This is no way to live and without an end game it's shutdown and stick to your zone whenever there is a flair up. As every case increases the mortality rate drops. As of now there is a 99% recovery with mild cases asymptomatic....this is borderline Insanity.

The fact is if we are fair about saving lives....shut down every alcohol store right now. Every fast food outlet right now.

Yes as I said the s.92 is looking shaky, totally backs up my point if a court can overrule it.
WWI and WWII went for 5 years, Afghanistan war has gone for 18 years. That's not forever, but a bloody tough long time of restrictions for the 2 world wars. Harden up the older generations would say.

Strawman argument about booze and fast food. I get the virus I can pass it on to everyone I touch or breath on. I drink booze, I don't pass on a potential disease to everyone because I touch or I breath on them when there is no pandemic.

Why don't you go and live in India or in the middle of Florida and prove to us that its nothing to worry about.

How can you say s.92 is looking shaky if you haven't heard an argument by any lawyers in the case, just a statement of claims from Palmer and his lawyers? That's all it is at this stage.

Seeing Melbourne is in lockdown for at least 6 weeks, perhaps it is time for the AFL to consider playing more games a week to maximise the current hub arrangements. If they honour their guarantee to Victorian clubs to return from their hubs after 32 days this will mean that there will need to be a break in the season. To allow for this it makes sense for each team to play a game every 4 days or so to ensure each team plays each other once and not lengthen the season out to the end of November. Just a thought.

Don't forget those 5G towers, let's blow them up as well.

Back on the 9th June there were only 2 cases reported across the whole of Australia then some one ****ed up.

I think there is plenty of scope for playing matches outside of Victoria if the AFL employ enough lateral thinking to make it happen. The SMA has indicated they are able and prepared to host two AFL matches a week and that probably goes for WA, Qld and NSW as well. Between us we should be able to get nine games played across half a dozen venues. On top of these venues there is always Launceston, Alice Springs, Canberra and Darwin all of which have hosted AFL games in the past. Again, I qualify my statement with the huge condition that the AFL employ some lateral thinking.

It just means that Victorian teams will have to fly around the countryside. To me that prospect is karma.

No policy that recommends that.

When I was tested my missus didn't have to be.

All good Edgie, I work in a covid clinic and know the guidelines back to front. Hence why I made my husband go and get a test, as SA is asking anyone who has a respiratory symptom to go and get tested.

The ability of the High Court to perform one of its functions - interpret the meaning and limits of the Constitution - does not in and of itself put Section 92 on shaky ground. On that logic, every law is on shaky ground, because courts interpret the meaning of them all the time.

That guarantee was absolute madness. If the AFL don't go back on it, it'll be the end of the season. Football in Victoria is going to be untenable.

191 case in Victoria, population of 6.6m, greater Melbourne has 5.1m people. Here are some figures i staterd looking at over the weekend, for jurisdictions with population of 5m to 8m people, new cases the last 24 hours as well as total cases and total deaths.

If gives you an indication that whilst what's happening in Victoria isn't good, other jurisdictions have let it get away and have had worse results, but as Singapore has shown its not the cases that are the issues its how many deaths result. Is it easier for a city /nation island to control things than a state in a federation?? Over 40,000 of Singapore cases have recovered.

Jurisdictions with similar quality health systems to Oz. Shows who has got on top of things after 4 or 5 months and who hasn't or is having a second wave.

So with Melbourne in lockdown, would that mean AFL teams based there couldn't train or play anyway?
None aren't based there at the moment. A lockdown has been announced for 6 weeks. Might be removed before, that might be extended.

AFL told players they would be away for 32 days. That can change. If AFL let the players back into Melbourne whilst there is a lockdown, the season will be shutdown for who knows how long.

I was just told I have a cold by my doctor, it was my missus's one that said I should get tested and she's got a few conditions including compromised immune, just to be sure.

I don't blame the Andrews government for what has happened in the last fortnight, it was clear that the momentum was that whenever there is an outbreak we will use local tracing and treating to fix it. That appeared successful at the meatworks etc and was the accepted tactic.

Andrews was one of the strictest early on, but clearly there was a national consensus on how to move forward and it hasn't worked.
Victorians are paying for it.

When it gets to a certain point you have to go back to Stage 3 statewide lockdown.
Unfortunate but true.
We cannot wait until Friday, it has to be a statewide Stage 3 now.

If its not done now it IS his fault, he needs to take statewide responsibility and call it.

Trust me, I'm not seeing a funny side to this.

If this spotty lockdown continues it will continue to propogate nationally and as a 56 year old carrying too many kegs its a threat to my life as well as everyone else in a similar situation. I'd like to see my kids married off and have grandkids before I punch my ticket.
What happened to Boris Johnson (someone a similar age and build to myself) could happen to any of us, although not all of us would get the individual treatment he did.
Its not a joke.

Andrews has had an absolute shocker:

Victoria had a terrible rate of testing in the early days, it was only in May they finally got their act together and started testing at a good rate. As it has been shown test and trace is the only way to get on top of this.

The meatworks outbreak was a stuff up by Vic Health, the guy who tested positive was still going to work.

Andrews knocked back the offer from the ADF to help out, instead using Dodgey Brothers Incorporated.

The ridiculous procedure where overseas returning travellers could refuse testing and just be released into the public - I wonder why there is so many cases in the community, who could see that coming :drunk:

The petulant "SA, why would you want to go there" comment, not a good look - get your own house in order.

Giving the green light to the BLM protest when the virus was still present in the community, the wider public saw 10k march together and said stuff it no more social distancing for me.

His Vic Health deputy making political statements instead of focusing on her work, no wonder Vic Health have bungled so much.

He should have shut the metro area down 7 days ago, it was clear as a day the cat was out the bag and yet he choose the easy target of the government housing blocks of flats instead of making the tough decision.

These are just some things that have filtered across the border, I'm sure he has made other stuff ups.

But yeh, if you ignore all this he has done a good job.
