This is not the US...paranoid much?
I know people that work in the media, they are doing nothing wrong by doing their job, but they have plenty to fear from this kind of overreach.
You can find any single story to suit any narrative. The fact is it happens far less here than it does it the US where citizens carry guns from under the age of 10 years old because they're so bloody paranoid about the governmentYou're right, it isn't the US.
Innocent man whose arm was broken by police in botched raid 'shattered' by IBAC finding
An innocent man who was badly injured by police during a botched raid is in "disbelief" that Victoria's anti-corruption watchdog cleared officers of using too much force during the arrest, his lawyer says.www.abc.net.au

No one is denying mistakes are made, but its not because of some corrupt governmentt or "higher power". The fact is, our current govenrment as well as opposition for that matter are far better than most of the options other countries have
No way is this getting removed. This will become the thing governments use to keep their citizens in check. The level of control this gives them is the huge silver lining of the economic disaster this will be. It's their wet dream. Everything you do will be seen by the government, and who else will they pass that data on to? This whole thing now seems like a an exercise in installing big governments everywhere. Get everyone pumped about the government's response to the big bad flu and use the situation to push through Orwellian surveillance measures that would usually spell death for the party that proposed it. But now that we're being literally held hostage, they figure it's a good chance. "Just let us watch what you do every moment of your day, and we'll let you back outside".implement it for 6 -12 months and then remove it.
We just heard that police issued fines to someone because, while casually patrolling Facebook, they saw someone had posted snaps from a year-old holiday and assumed they were in breach of current restrictions?
And we think that handing over data on what we do at every minute of every day will be used sensibly and responsibly?
It will be used by Dutton for political witch huntsNo way is this getting removed. This will become the thing governments use to keep their citizens in check. No conceivable way that information could be misused or abused. No way it could fall into the wrong hands. May as well just cede our property, businesses and any sense of self to the Chinese Commu-oops, I mean the Liberal government right now.
Not sure how I'm wrong, I didnt say it doesn't happen, all I said was "paranoid much". The fact it rarely happens but is being used to shout from the rooftops by all the paranoid people that everyones data will be incorrectly used or leaked in some detrimental way is misguidedSo you were wrong?
You made an assumption that I was talking about somewhere else incorrectly?
It doesn't happen that often so no biggie?
Lol, wtf are they going to do with Data like that... oh he goes to work and the pub?No way is this getting removed. This will become the thing governments use to keep their citizens in check. No harm done in the end but what happens if you rightly abuse the cops issuing the fine and they fine for you something along those lines...and it's now been withdrawn...no harm done
That’s kind of indicative of the problem.what were those measures in australia again? that we still have? ive forgotten
"Oi mate, give us a look at your phone eh? You gots a goin' outsoide loicence on dere?"I find it hilarious that the government think people believe the threat of them making us install an app will make us install it.
What are they going to do? Send Police around to see if you own a smart phone? fu** outta here.
Perhaps don't abuse them?No harm done in the end but what happens if you rightly abuse the cops issuing the fine and they fine for you something along those lines...
I believe they still need a warrant? That’s kind of indicative of the problem.
We’ve had these measures so long that people have forgotten that there was a time when police couldn’t search your home or car without a warrant, or hold you for up to two weeks without charging you, or rent-a-cops at the airport couldn’t zip-tie and arrest you, or ASIO couldn’t hold children for a week without habeas corpus.
After 15-20 years this stuff is just normal. There are adults walking around who dont remember Australia being different.
I don't issue fines to people or accuse them of breaking the law...Perhaps don't abuse them?
Have you ever made a mistake at your workplace and been verbally abused for doing so?

All states added sections to their Crimes Act within months of 9/11 to allow warrantless searches where the police suspect a terrorism connection.I believe they still need a warrant?
I also don't think those other examples happen without a lot of smoke leading them to a potential fire...
When it comes to cops, the end often justifies the means and they’re pretty good at getting creative with the tools at their disposal.I also don't think those other examples happen without a lot of smoke leading them to a potential fire...
