Lockdowns for at least another 12 months under this government.

If there is no advantage to having the vaccine the majority will not go out of their way to get it and will will waste years of ours lives waiting for them.

We need a deadline and then open up. After that it’s on the individual what they do or don’t do. What’s the bloody point of healthy people greeting a vaccine if they still have to lockdown every time?

This issue is getting beyond the control of government. The blunt force of lockdowns is the only lever they have at their disposal as of right now and its clearly not as effective as it once was.

Its been obvious for some time that we won't see an advantage from the vaccine until we have >80% of the populace fully vaccinated. We won't get >80% of the population vaccinated because too many people are ****ing morons who believe any anti-thing that they read or are told. These are the very same people who will moan the loudest about having to go into lock-down due to gubberment incompetence yet again.

State or Federal?

Daniel Andrews has said that lockdowns won't happen next year so long as everyone has had the chance to get vaccinated.

How about we just focus on getting vaccines to those who want them before we worry about anything else? Under 40s still waiting.

There is still not enough vaccines for this to happen. I’ve tried a few times to book at Ford in Geelong, completely booked out for the foreseeable future. I managed to book in at local gp but that was just pot luck.
 
ATAGI decided that AstroZenica wasn’t for under 60’s BUT what IF they hadn’t decided that?
We would have about double the supply of vaccines and could conceivably have 10% of the population fully vaccinated by now….Unfortunately at that rate, we still won’t get us to the 80% by the end of the year. Vaccine roll out is way to slow.

Even if the vaccines are available 80% of this country are not willingly getting them without some encouragement

Opening the borders and letting everyone in, should be incentive enough. OR are we going to have a partisan divide like the US where vaccination rates are mostly within 2% of Democratic Party vote.

That’s why as an under 50 (just) I decided to get AZ to free up the fizer for those that won’t take the AZ.

I saw my cardiologist today. She said I should postpone my physiotherapy if we go into lockdown again. I just started again two weeks ago.

Correct. My point is that its stupid to discuss deadlines for letting it rip until everyone has had the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Exactly right. Did you see the numbers of people coming here on red permits? It shouldn’t surprise anyone that we are in this position again.

We need to lockdown now. The numbers will only go in one direction otherwise.
 
Sounds like Sydney's stay at home was taken as just a suggestion, that couldn't mean me !! If you're going to leave retail open the morons need to fill in their time somehow. They haven't got through to people to take it seriously, and they don't seem to understand the longer they continue with the behaviour the longer we're in this shit

We have the same problem here with masks and QR codes, that doesn't apply to me. At the supermarket, etc people everywhere without masks and not checking in. Not that I think they make a lot of difference, I just do it because I'm a boring rule follower in general and don't want a fine. Not that I think the police care much anymore either. I think everyone has COVID Safe fatigue now.

I went to The Colonel for some dirty bird at lunchtime and not one of the tradies there getting lunch wore a mask or checked in.

Also, as Matt says are people who are eligible not getting their shot because they're waiting to see what freebies they'll be given ? Silly me for not waiting.
