Some of the conditions those poor people live in is much worse than contracting covid-19 they have probably built up immunity to it.

india is only lower because

A. Just lucked out with not so many people from Wuhan visiting at the start. The China to India travel is not as much a popular circuit. So, they just had a delayed start to covid. they are catching up fast.

B. They implemented the 14 day lock own on internationals across the board early ... unfortunately a lot of people don't follow laws...

Oh dear!

We are doubling every week.

So no we dont make a million by the end of April you f*cking moron!

We should be around 30,000 at the end of April.

If im wrong then get back to me at the end of April.

Nothing worse than an idiot who thinks they are smart.

I will take 30k and 180 deaths by April, it’s a far cry from the thousands of deaths that a number of other nut jobs projected

Out of our 1072 cases (or there abouts) we have had 7 deaths and have 2 in serious condition, say hospital/ICU. Regardless of community spread if this is the type of impact or strain that we have then so be it, our position is chalk and cheese in comparison to Europe or even the US.

This is a serious serious issue, not for our populations health but for our country's Economy, thousands and thousands of people are/will continue to lose their Jobs and thousands of businesses are on the brink. The impact on people’s mental health will do more damage than the Wuhan coronavirus.

I think people are forgetting two things when it comes to OS/CHina....

Whuhan went into complete lockdown, i mean ZERO social interaction. We still have 5000 people on the same beach!!

This virus is temperature sensitive, above 28deg slows it alot. Therefore places like India and certain parts of China have been helped by this. This will also help the northern hemisphere in the coming months and hurt us! My guess is South America could be in for a tough few months.

What you seem to not have grasped is that 99% of cases in Australia are mild with some showing symptoms and some none at all, and have never needed "the medical industry" other than to be diagnosed - before being told to isolate at home and recover.

You seem to have this notion that all of these active cases are coming up and requiring ICU's - which is grossly false.

Active cases will rise. They are expected to rise. Anyone with a brain knows this number will rise. But the only thing this will do is prove how many mild cases there really are and will only make the mortality number/critical case number seem less disproportionate in the long term.

Active cases rise over time for literally ever other ailments and diseases, but you don't see us going crazy because we've grasped their true impact, and we focus not on the active cases, but the deaths, criticals and recoveries.
How many aged 80+ cases in Australia so far??

Temperature sensitivy: could you refer me to this info source please, and the case of Iran? Thanks.

That was only in the initial phases, community acquired infection is starting to take over already.

It also has the opposite effect. People were saying there wasn't much spread early on, but the cases were over seas acquired, and we knew about them before they arrived, so they went straight into quarantine. There was no chance for spread. So we can really count the growth from the first community acquired case, which makes the rate of growth even faster.

Also, early models said we would get to a thousand cases this weekend, which happened.

‘Quarantine’ seems to be a much more liquid definition from seven weeks ago when the Wuhan evacuees went to Christmas Island -where none tested positive

OK that was over the top and we didn’t know as much then as a community, but we do know it’s potentially terrible outside China. I think it’s concerning

someone infected or knowing they may be infected may be no more self isolating than joe blow in the community who’s not a risk but ‘being alert’

there’s many reports that very large numbers of people got wind of the lockdown and fled Wuhan just before

based on doubling each week? Some estimates are twice as fast as that

and the economy would be affected by other countries actions even if we tried to do business as usual

Does anyone actually think theres going to be a round 2? With the current rate of spread in the country now and states beginning to lock down borders (required isolation for visitors) theres just no way this is going to go ahead anytime soon.

I was half wondering if round 1 would complete

Twenty bucks says it will

Bit like Andrew krakour mark of the year. Won it because of the story and not the mark. Never see it anymore but always see Andrew walkers mark.

Nah, Krakouer won mark of the year because it was a better mark.

Pack mark over 1 on 1 every day if the week, at a critical moment in a game where Collingwood came from 8 goals down to win.

I totally agree with taking precautions against the virus but this new practise of not shaking hands and no arms around players when singing the club song is absolutely ludicrous. Aussie Rules is a full contact sport. Those same players have just spent the previous two hours tackling each other, wrapping their arms round each other, grabbing sweaty hands and arms, having faces pushed against those same sweaty hands and arms and everyone touching the same football. Shaking hands and singing a song will make absolutely no bloody difference!
Which is why they shouldn't be playing at all.

Is it just me or do all of the gameday threads on the main board seem very quiet compared to this time last year?

Have the casuals checked out of the season?
Yep, no interest.

I couldn't get excited about my team's win on Friday night, because in the end it will be meaningless as there is no way season 2020 plays through to a conclusion.

Oh here we go.

A million cases by the end of April.

CHINA HAS NOT REACHED A MILLION FFS!

God what shit tier modelling it must be loved if they would share it. Let me guess 25% rate of increase continued indefinately with no slowdown? Because they is literally the only way to reach that by the end of April mathwise.

China stop counting.

Whoever has final say over the headlines on news.com.au should go to jail for inciting hysteria. If anyone under 60 ever dies their office will look like Richmond's lockerooms after winning the grand final last year, they are so desperate for this to kill millions
As people of any age get ill the hospitals and ICU will fill rapidly. Car accident victims and all other mladies wll be traeted in a tent - thats the pont to flattening the curve. We are all in this

Well that’s the Arrogant Football League for you. The rules don’t apply to us.

I've been saying this all week with people telling how been wrong the whole time.

I've been making predictions for a month. They've all come true.

If the AFL and government decide that their sport is principally more important than lives then I feel that eventually it will not be the cancellation of this session that hurts the AFL, but the lack of enthusiasm and support the AFL will have after all this is over.

If the AFL had of thought about sending a positive message, particularly to public that the health crisis was more important, there would be even more support the following years. I hope this is the death knell of Gill. I think as a public we are sick of how the AFL has become this contrived, self congratulatory champion of the public when it is really a amateur umpired and governed glorified league of selfish mercenary mundane players.
