Given it can spread before symptoms show, if one player in a squad gets it they may all be in quarantine. Just as some workplaces overseas are shutting down over a single case (though that's only in areas where the spread is already uncontrolled such as Korea).

If you think this is just the flu you are kidding your yourself and youlll become part of the problem. Yes, it’s “mild” for 80%, but the other 20% end up in intensive care with organ failure.No hospital system in the world will cope. Everyone of you will know someone affected by this.

Its just a matter of time here. Our Chinese population locally here have done a fantastic job of limiting the virus from community spread. But the average Joe returning from Bali won't - it will take off like wildfire over there, if it hasnt already, and then we will have major outbreaks here within a couple of months. Those who are complacent or blase about this are going to put the elderly and those with weakened immune symptoms at great risk..

Now lets forget that you care litttle for people and just consider the fiscal implications , it is already having a massive effect on stock markets Here and overseas.
In Australia alone many industries are already being effected. Our education system which makes its money on overseas students with China being the biggest user, our food exports are being crunched as there are no markets to distribute the goods in China. The lobster industry got smashed this year. Tourism is also had a huge downturn due to the virus.
As time goes on more industries will be effected and the overall cost will be felt hard by all Australians.

That's why people are worried, especially for their elderly relatives and for those with suppressed immune systems.

I'm sure I will be fine if I ever contracted the virus, but I'm not sure if my older relatives will cope just as well and I worry for them.

As I said previously, Australians should not be alarmed or panicking at this stage, but it's good to be prepared for the worst case scenario. There's no harm in doing that.

Better to be ridiculed for overreacting than dealing with the fallout due to a lack of preparation to contain the virus.

Yep, agree completely. My grandparents lived through the depression and world wars. Until we have a vaccine this will be the closet thing we will have to deal with in our lives. So take it seriously and limit the impact for those most at risk.

I'm assuming you mean current strains, and not 1919 Spanish flu. Somewhat premature to be calling that one, but against any recent flu strains it probably already is there on most measures.

One of the big problems, almost paradoxically, with this one seems to be that it isn't usually that bad for those who contract it. Which means many will unwittingly spread it thinking they have a normal cold.
SARS and the like were actually controlled to an extent because the symptoms hit hard and early - people knew they had something unusual.

Mate i live in Thailand which is still letting some Chinese tourists in and are saying that there are only 41 cases of people with the virus. You don't have to be Einstein to work out that's not a true figure.

Theres a few first hand accounts from people with mild cases that I have read and it is not good.
-to hell and back my three weeks suffering from coronavirus - Is a good account/article from Wuhan from one of the lucky 80% who did not require hospitalization if you want to google it.

You just have to look at Wuhan a city of twelve million and get a glimpse of the facts figures videos stories from there to get a grasp of how bad it has been and there are plenty of places that are just three or four months behind them.

The United States is going to be an absolute disaster imo.They will just be politicizing it into an argument even when they are deep in the shit
