Cotchin v Gibbs

I am f*%$n sick of seeing polls like this which see Carlton fans v Tigers fans all the time. Truth is both will be exceptional players for their teams. Lets hope its like seeing Buckley v Voss in the 02 GF which I think is where these 2 will be. To all of you idiots saying Gibbs is soft watch some footy. Gibbs has shaken off men and put his head over the ball non-stop in 08. As for Cotchin HE DID NOT HAVE A PRE-SEASON. He came in half way through the year and at times made Tambling and some others look like burnt out hacks. Both will be amazing players. I think Gibbs will become a superstar very soon and cotchin will be special.

After seeing Gibbs effort on Goodes this year he may have an edge versatility wise but both are different kinds of players i wouldnt be too phased if Carlton had Cotchin instead as they will both be big stars.

hate to say it, but gibbs for mine. i think he's on another level in terms of talent and as i said in another thread i know it's a big call but i reckon gibbs will go down as one of the elite players of modern history. i think a better comparison is cotchin vs deledio. both will be superstars of their time but are probably just a little bit below gibbs.

Gibbs is playing better at the moment but IMO Cotchin will be a better play by far.

what is it that makes richmond fans blow their load over cotchin??? what has he done?

sure, he's shown some great signs but gibbs can do everythign he can and more.

gibbs is quicker, stronger, both are equally good quicks but gibbs can kick 65 metres whereas cotchin would barely get it over 50, gibbs can take a big grab, is mroe dangerous around goals, much better at negating an opponent and working hard both ways, a much better reader of the play, super evasive and great at the 1%ers, justa great footballer.

cotchin looks like he can become a great footballer but i don't think he's done anything to suggest he'll be anywhere near as good as gibbs.

gibbs will become the best player in the comp one day and while cotchin will be pretty good i can't see him getting near gibbs.

Two future superstars, but I'd take Gibbs as he is more versatile. We were the worst team in 2008 in terms of hitouts, so when our ruck division starts coming through (very young) Gibbs could really take it to that next level as an elite clearance winner.

You need look no further than the Carlton vs. Richmond game late in the season to see just how good Gibbs is and will be. He made your mob, Deledio and Cotchin included, look like chopped liver.

deledio killed him & had to be moved, next time go to the game & watch it.
cotchin will be a better player than gibbs guaranteed. .
cotch is pure class.

Cotchin will be a gun of the competition, but there is something special about Gibbs that will be shown next season... I cant think of anyone that that resembles Bucks more than Gibbs...

Really surprised to see how highly regarded Gibbs is by opposition supporters....

A first year player who played very few games must be something pretty special when he is getting touts like this.

That being said i would take Cotchin over Gibbs any day of the week. Cotchin is just like a young Robert Harvey and oozes so much composure, skill and class.

I would take Gibbs over Tambling anyday though

It will be great to watch both players develop next year.
Need to compare apples with apples though.
2 years in the system Vs 1 makes a big difference. Cotchin will be better with a full pre-season under his belt.
Hope he can get the same sort of education that Gibbs has had over the next year or 2

Watched Gibbs closely this year, the boy is something special.
I think the N Buckley comparison is right on the money.
Have a good look at him in 09/10, the kid is about to explode.

Gibbs isn't an elite kick.

If we're talking the best kicks in the comp they would be guys like

Gilbee
Hodge
Josh Hunt
Brendan Goddard
Josh Drummond
etc.

Gibbs is a good kick, but not elite by any means.
