We all know West Coast will flog Geelong on Saturday :)D)... but it seems few have given the Hawks much of a chance against the Pies on Friday night.

Collingwood have announced they are wary of Lance Franklin as their biggest hurdle towards consecutive grand final appearances - shut down buddy and another GF berth is effectively theirs.

Buddy is a match-winner, everybody knows that. Could he have a day out and help his team upset the flag favourites? And if not, who will do the job on him for Collingwood?

Of course he can.

But he missed training today, was seen at Vimy House & couldn't attend the awards tonight owing to his injury. He'll play with painkillers but he won't be at his best physically. That said, he is a gun & I doubt MM will be underrating him.

If you concentrate too much on one player, others get under your guard. I'd think Collingwood's planning will revolve around this thinking.

Yes he can and he will.

Probably the only key forward to average more goals per game in finals than in the H&A year over the last 5 years. Is now averaging 4 goals per game in finals since 2007, with two big bags of 7 goals and 8 goals in finals. Was born to play big games.

I forget which Geelong player was his opponent in the QF (before the injury), but I remember they had success playing in front of Buddy rather than trying to spoil from behind - he's too quick. Maybe that's a tactic that Collingwood will employ. Having said that, he still kicked 4 goals.

would be great to see him get up and kick a bag to win the game for them (well, not for Collingwood fans I guess).

:)

Not a chance in hell. Buddy will physically and mentally controlled by Collingwood’s backline. Buddy does well against weak opposition and fails against elite teams which have a relentless defensive pressure. He will not be given a single inch of space and will struggle to kick more than 2 goals. Buddy cannot work in confined spaces and Collingwood will exploit this. Watch Buddy struggle and the excuses people will make for him.

Buddy is Leon Davis 2.0 in finals

Lonergan was on him and the tactic worked during the H&A too

Hawthorn have to find goals elsewhere because as we saw against Geelong, Buddy might kick a bag but if the team only kicks 8-12 they won't win

Whose 2nd account are you?

The only thing that can stop Buddy at the moment is this stuff.:(

This guy should get a red card, Leon Davis 2.0 :D Buddy's first final 7 goals against Adelaide including the winner with 15 seconds to go from just in side the boundary 60 out that's that argument gone.

Of course he could, he's a superstar. But if any team's equipped to keep his influence limited it's the Pies- a super organised backline with excellent skills, size and speed.

Quick, some one get his medication,Unstable is living up to his name again.

Hope so.
Unlikely though. Collingwood too professional and very good defensively.
Clarkson will have to pull a few tricks out of the bag to allow Buddy the freedom to dominate. They will have to move the ball quickly. And be competitive in the midfield.
Good luck to them.

Clarko's got the gameplan he's being waiting to use all season. The pies will have no idea what it was if we start to fall behind he will use it if were in front he will save it for the big one.

During the mid season Collingwood looked unstoppable. But the last two games they look a bit wobbly (90 point loss to the Cats and having a narrow win againt West Coast at the MCG).

While it's had to seperate Collingwood and Geelong when they are playing at their best, Collingwood hasn't played to their best for a while now. If Collingwood can find their form again it should be a convincing win against the Hawks, but if they can't then anything can happen.

Leon barely gets a tough, Buddy kicks 4 and you just about would've backed him in to get another one in the Geelong game, he then kicks 4 against swans while getting around the ground 17 touches and 7 tackles. and yeah you're right, McKenzie and Glass who owned Cloke and Dawes last week, yeah Buddy kicked 6 on them. He also dominated Saints and Swans who are decent teams.

Well, he wasn't successful ruining our Round 15 party, and he was fit back then sooo....

We also didn't have Hale in somewhat decent contesting marking form. Last time Buddy had Tarrant right on his hip, O'Brien close by and Davis hovering. This time now that our rucks are a lot better he might actually be able to get freed up a bit.

Unfortunately Clarko had a few beers down the pub after the last win, was talking out of school and now Malthouse knows the whole thing.
