I have to disagree here guys. The responsibility for the indigenous population of Australia falls back onto every member of society. We introduced many detrimental things into their lives when we came here, yet we continue to let them live in 3rd world conditions and treat them as 3rd class citizens, and we don't let them maintain their own language, culture and customs that we feel goes against the western lifestyle. We as a society have a responsibility here to fix our wrongs, to understand why certain things happen in the indigenous community, to educate the indigenous population and give them the best possible life that they can have. Helping Jurrah will not solve these problems, but it is a start and everything has to start somewhere.

Firstly, I'll caveat that I have significant experience working with indigenous community's.

I respect you as a poster but totally disagree with your argument. Our treatment in the past has been poor, but there has been significant emphasis placed on improving services and support. However, at some stage there has to be some acceptance of responsibility. We can't keep having a culture of blame. I for one don't want my children feeling they are responsible for the actions of people 100 years ago.

my brother took this, i would like to claim it though....

One of the weirdest moments at a game I've ever experienced. Everyone went up as if he was one of ours. 30 seconds later we're booing for him to miss.

Footy.

I was in that NW pocket area standing. Had that painful wiff of being less exciting to watch than the Demons. Was a great grab tho will always remember it.

It's cause we're racist.

He's currently 27 years old, turns 28 in September 2016, would take him at least 2 pre-seasons to get back up to speed for AFL.

In no known universe would an AFL club take him on in the 2017 trading/drafting period.

No, he's a total loser.

Plenty of talented footballers and indeed talented Indigenous footballers out there who don't run around hitting people with machetes and who haven't been to prison multiple times. Give them a first chance before giving this guy a 100th chance.

I just liked your post cos I was happy to see someone spell loser with only one O

He would inject some yoof into Freo's likely 2017 midfield though.

I voted no, not because of political views, etc...etc... It's just a basic common sense decision, something the club has already done once. Initially when it was 1st brought up after he was delisted by Melbourne I was all for snapping him up, but seeing what has happened since my view has changed.

Won't forget that grab he took against in the dark period (2011 I think it was, happy to stand corrected), was right in front where I was sitting. It was an amazing grab.

I must have blinked. I can't remember him playing

Seriously? It was fantastic at the time. He also tore us a new one at the MCG the year after.

Ahh I thought he meant playing for us

Everyone deserves another chance. Good people do bad things. Carey was an acholic and a coke head most of his career. Shutting someone out because of previous mistakes has never helped anyone move forward. To be honest, even if he never played in the afl again, but got his life sorted through playing in the maggies id be happy and proud of the club.
That's fluffy bunnies and rainbows guff. Everyone does not deserve a second chance. Bad people also do bad things, especially repeated bad things and varied bad things. Jurrah is junk, nothing to do with his ethnicity. We are not a charity, we have no connection with the guy. To say otherwise means you've drunk the Kool-Aid and it's too late for you.

Agree not worth the risk ......would prefer to pick up a kid from the academy instead

One of the more reasonable posts. Consider him as just a 28-yr old player who last played in 2012, and one game only in that year. Personally, I'd be more inclined to give Kane Cornes another go if the fire brigade fell through.

Take enough photos and you have to get lucky sooner or later
Haha first thought - that was a bit rough and then I saw who made the comment.
