I’m betting that there was a lot more advice given to TA than has been publicly leaked so far … ATAGI/federal govt has a record of changing rules on the run.
Will be interesting to see if TA starts leaking also …

Except that paints it as the AO granting an exemption to enter the country, which is obviously not within their power... lol
Effectively the exemption is the same as that offered to Australians domestically which makes sense. Entering the country with an acceptable visa is entirely separate, though I have little doubt the AO have done their best not to delineate this difference to the players.

True, shows Tiley took the calculated risk and the feds would have let it slide if the public outcry wasn't so severe. Big balls up.
It is impossible to see him keeping his job after this fiasco.

That data for new cases is actually incorrect - yesterday we only had 30,851 cases, not 51,356. The remaining 20,505 cases were positive RA tests from between the 1st and 6th of Jan, reported to the DH just yesterday.

If the basis of his legal challenge is TA said he has an exemption then i dont like his chances.

He received an exemption to enter Victoria and play in the Australian open - not to cross into the international Australian border.
If this is his defense, then my guess is that he'll be on a plane out by Monday arvo.
Edit: Just read the part about the letter from department of home affairs. If they can produce that then it certainly makes things more interesting but I still don't think he'll win.

Novak Novak Novak, just go home, wallow in your millions, put your feet up and wait for the next tournament to stroke your ego. No one gives a rats ass.
He’s been vocal on vaccines and it’d be a lot easier if he were vaccinated, but it’s a far reach to think he’d fly from Belgrade to Melbourne knowing he’d be denied entry. Like all visas, his was approved before he got on the plane. That it then got canceled on arrival is a debacle.
A bit to play out, but Tennis Australia is also looking very amateurish.
Djokovic has a different take on many things, but calling him a sh*t bloke is pretty average after he’s helped raised funds for the Queensland floods and the 2020 Australian bushfires.
