What's going to save Andrews' backside?
3 weeks ago, 400 active cases, 20 in one day, shut down regional Victoria.

Today, 1900 active xases, 220 in one day, open up regional Victoria.

Just give me some extra time to work it out.
Off topic though!
I actually think with the high vaccination rates that the number of cases per day will actually plateau and then trend down.
We have very high vaccination rates, amoung the highest in the world.
The virus is not being transmitted due to the vaccination levels and the lockdowns etc

When we all get out of lockdown the virus rates will spike then fall away. The unvaccinated will cop the brunt of this.

But by Jan 1 sport is ON.

Delta really fked things up tbh. The pleasant way of hearing things is what everyone is saying - let's open up at 70%. The reality of that statement is that the government is happy for a high percentage of the remaining 30% to get covid, and then another percentage of those people getting hospitalised/dying - whatever that number may be...

Gladys has put us in a position where death rate x number of people unvaccinated is something that is being accepted by the community.. lol

Are you joking? she is directly responsible for the 1200-1500 daily cases by not going hard enough at the beginning.
Victoria case numbers are higher at the same stage of the outbreak with the harder lockdown so howcan you justify that statement

Or she is saying hurry up & move your arse & get vaccinated.
It's working. Record vaccination rates when people see that it will be let loose.

Vic will be tbe same. Rates will go up when people realise things will move on.
It seems!

We never would've had these high vaccination rates without Delta impacting us and sending vic/nsw into lockdown for months. IMO the push for vaccination should've occurred while Delta wasn't impacting us.

NZ got lucky too, they should be able to get to zero cases in a few weeks but need to push their rates because sooner or later Delta will get into the country and spread. WA/QLD/SA/TAS need to get high rates while they're still not really impacted by Delta, it'll reach their states soon enough.

I don’t want to talk Covid here as this is not the forum, but I will call out statements that are factually incorrect.

56 days into the Sydney outbreak the rolling 7 day average for cases was over 300. In Victoria at the same day it hasn’t gone above 125.

This current outbreak in Victoria had one day of zero cases (4th of August) thanks to the early lockdown but goes back to the 13th of July and the transmission from the Sydney removalists when taking into account the increase in cases.

Agree with some of the above

Delta has spurred us along with the vaxx rates. The federal stuffing supply and the allocation hasn't helped. But we are seeing some pretty high numbers daily and we will continue to.

It will just get to a point where the % of un vaxxed who get covid may end up in hospital, but it will be such a small %, much like those who get smashed by the flu to the point where they get pneumonia end up in hospital. The vaccinated community will find themselves with the sniffles for a few days if they get it.

Most in pte nursing homes. Direct responsibility of the Feds.
Oh the Feds again!
The Feds responsible for the bad stuff every where & only the Libs in NSW.

In Vic nothing to see here BUT..........
Shut down regional Vic 3 weeks ago with only 20 cases in a day & 400 active cases.
Open up regional Vic yesterday with 220 cases in a day & 1900 active cases.

Yeah I totally agree with your OPINION!:rolleyes:

As Israel has shown Pfizer was hopeless against the Delta strain when they opened up earlier this year. AZ is the better alternative and gives a longer period of protection before a booster shot is needed. Pfizer you need a booster shot after 6 months. No wonder Pfizer are pushing their product to everyone. COVID is cash cow for some companies.

I don't understand why you quoted me here
Sorry I was actually in agreement.

Feds backed the AZ which in turn was being produced here. The main one used throughout GB. Heaps of supply for us here so no mistakes made at all. Politics then got started by the States. Bad press etc.
Worrying about politics instead of looking after their citizens which is their job.

Anyway. AZ seems OK now with these very people that talked it down earlier.
Pure politics which is a disgrace.

The Feds shouldn't have gone all in on AZ though, just as they shouldn't have gone all in on Pfizer, Moderna, J&J or anyone else. Because as soon as AZ got told it was for 50s+ early on, our rollout stalled because there was no alternative vaccine for the rest of the population

I highly doubt more than 10% of the people getting vaxed now are doing it only because of outbreaks. The majority getting done now are because we finally have vaccines to take. A lot of people my age (mid 20s) all got AZ as soon as the Feds allowed us to.

There was a stat thrown around a few days ago I saw that compared an LGA in Vic that is having a bigger outbreak than another. The former has a younger population who only had access to the vaccine for like a month compared to the latter whose demographic was significantly older and was able to get the AZ shot much early
