The AFL and clubs will lose Millions if games are played in empty stadiums, I hope it doesn’t come to this but I’d rather have empty stadiums than no footy. Yes I have already paid for my membership as well. The club can keep my money.

Honestly, who cares if they do. It's just money and it's just sport.

A) based on the 2 months of sketchy evidence we have?

B) they carry it to the elderly
There is a big enough sample size to suggest it’s conclusive evidence, but yes that’s true on the second part

It would be wonderful to not hear absolute idiots shouting “go pies” or “go bombers” before the end of the minutes silence.
Haven't heard anyone yell during the minute's silence in the many years I've been attending. The occasional baby crying, that's about it.

They had the pre-sale for AFL members for the rounds that include Anzac Day.

I logged in to Ticketek straight away and got through and had perfect seats on the wing within a minute.

This is highly unusual and I reckon it shows that people expect that game not to involve crowds, or people are isolating themselves.

I believe that was stamped out some time back, I do remember 1 or 2 clowns way back, I don't think you would want to be that person.

It's only football Dave. If it were up to me, i'd be suspending it indefinitely like the NBA have done. The only stopping force to that happening is money and that's bulls@#$.

Is it though? What happens to all the admin staff if it gets shutdown. Does the club still pay them? If they stop getting paid how do they pay mortgages? If they can’t pay mortgages what then. If they continue to be paid how long can the club sustain that without receiving attendance revenue?

It’s the most delicate of things and unfortunately economics has to play a role.

I was discussing with a friend when she told me that she knew of someone who was at an opening of a hotel in South Melbourne and had tested positive.

Then thinking if the games were cancelled of all the casuals in catering, gate attendants, security etc that wouldn't be working. For some that money would be handy and hard to replace. It really would be a snowball affect in the economy.

That’s where my mind goes as well. Yes I get the thought process of shutting it all down immediately to control the spread, but our economy isn’t ready for that.

When the time is right the governments and medical advice will dictate that happens and by that stage I’m sure banks will be asked to put mortgage repayments on hold and the government’s will support the banks, but we can’t just unilaterally make a call like shutting the AFL down until we receive the advice to do so.

If it continues to multiply at the rates it has been (and if the last week suggests anything, it will continue multiplying quicker and larger), then this virus may swallow months of 2020 if not drag further into 2021. I think all signs point toward an entire cancelled season for virtually all sports worldwide. I haven't really been paying attention because I thought the hysteria was mostly media driven but the last 7 days have been nuts, I reckon everybody;s gotta take this very seriously now.

Well People be Scared to go to the Footy at the Moment

Obviously the least of everyone's worries but if the season is suspended I feel for the OOC fringe players who may have otherwise had a chance to play themselves into a new contract but will find themselves delisted due to the mandated list changes required. I really thought Wills was on the chopping block last year but earned himself an extra year due to playing in the back end of the season. Some players may not be so lucky this year.
