I reckon the USA may well be thereabouts. Vietnam actually has very good dentists but not sure how their skills filter through the socio economic groups to the poor. But there is no way Australia is in the top 5.
Good teeth in Vietnam. If you need serious dental work done, go on a holiday to Vietnam. The holiday will pay for itself.

Filters right down to the poor as the govt dental hospitals are also good.

I think that's why there are so many men over 50 going to south-east asia. They are searching for good dentists. I've heard so many guys speak about oral hygiene after going to asia...

Same in Thailand. It's all free.
That does not mean people look after their teeth.
Most don't

Shalom and shut up can sound the same. You may have misheard but got the sentiment right.
It's not commonly understood here or in the broader community but shutting up can be a source of peace

The big issue in the US is that, if you don't have money, and lots of it, you're f**ked.
Even if you have health insurance, you're still up for big costs.

Australia really is a fortunate country in so many respects. Our middle boy had a brain tumor removed 5 years ago, best of treatment, best of care and a wonderful team of specialists that bought him some well spent time at Griffith University Hospital. Sadly it’s returned, stage 4 and another filthy great tumour removed at Princess Alexandra but he’s in the stage of quality of life now unfortunately. He’s a fighter, chemo and radiation on the near horizon but he give it all as will we for him.
No medical costs again but of course so much emotional and physical carnage on all.
We’ve been fortunate to buy a house in Bullimba for him and wife and dig into our super to help them through these times but we really need to be thankful for the land we live in that’s afforded us this opportunity.
Bit of a rant I know and sorry but in a world of filthy things our country isn’t one of them.

I agree with you, but also understand the concerns for the country as every year we seem to be shifting further from an egalitarian economy towards a US style user pays economy with a quickly growing economic divide.

Good luck to your boy.

Yes there are so many good dentists to be found among the fleshpots of Pattaya and Patong in Phuket, so your time can be spread between the dental drill and what your own drill is still capable of doing with a bit of viagra or alcohol assistance. Cambodian dentists are also good, as are Indian. Better than spending a life time of savings here on an all on 4 or 6 at one of our Aussie canine specialists.

I have no idea how my post sparked that response. Fleshpots? I think everyone in this thread is stimulated by the thought of a good dentist.

I feel for you, Jimmy. All of us here hope for the best for him & your family. At least he's been able to get the best treatment available.
We are lucky in Australia that we can access quality health care.
We lost a little girl, stillborn at 6 months.
:(

Even here in Thailand mate. The amount of sugar consumed is incredible.
They had the UK as one of the best top 5 for healthy teeth.
Says it all.
Thais have sugar in just about everything, including most main course dishes. The problem is ordering anything without sugar, such as coffee or fruit drinks in restaurants.

Only one poster objected and his username and posts suggest that he has no relatives there (I suspect he was as much concerned about the slight on Dan as anything else). Nevertheless I saw and see nothing amiss with the post.
If I could have been bothered and knowing this is the type of reaction I would get, I would have objected. I found the post tasteless and insensitive, definitely not amusing given the current circumstances.

Couldn't care less about the Dan reference.

Rant all you want mate. That’s some tough shit to deal with. All the best.

So sorry to hear that mate. All the best to you and your boy.
Go Pies.

I was mocking Dan and criticising Israel's response in Gaza. I'll do them both again. If you're offended and consider it tasteless- oh well. Offence has become a feigned political response to silence criticism, so I'll continue to ignore it.

Fair enough Maggie. Tastes in humour can vary significantly.

Fair enough. But the response to your humour is equally valid. You have the right to joke about it, and people have the right not to laugh.

You were fortunate you targeted two of my pet dislikes. Mounting a defence of the mockery is that much easier if your heart and brain can both commit to the cause. Had you chosen to depict Dan as Hamas on a kidnapping raid, well, I'd probably have managed to envisage a bit of Dan in that context too - he stole my life for a couple of years. But in general, Dan doesn't slot neatly into a passive military setting, such as meekly sitting in the path of a missile or under a bomb. He will miss the man of action role in life.
