They got the jump on other ODI teams by approaching the first 15 overs like a T20 instead of an ODI with Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana.

Before that teams were happy to just get to 50 off the first 15 overs which seems ridiculously slow now and 220 was seen as a decent total.

They still have a lot of talent but they lack the experience and steel of the older players they had back when they won the World Cup in 1996

Even back in 2007 when they made the World Cup final they still had Jayasuriya, Vaas and Murali plus Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Malinga

Now he's just got the wickets of Ravi Shastri and Kiran More.

McDermott does tend to get overlooked for great Australian bowlers these days, the likes of McGrath and Warne overshadowed him later on.

Merv Hughes and Bruce Reid are underrated too, both fine test bowlers back in their day.

I tune in and see a test match and I can't just watch a few minutes, I have to keep watching to see how it ends.

Richie Benaud didn't even give Warne a mention when he took 1 for 150 against India.

Can't say I blame him, I remember thinking "where the hell did they get this fat bogan from?".

I thought he would be a one test wonder like Bryce McGain.

I don't even remember McDermott as I was a tad young, but watching this channel and basically every match he's in he is dominating. But being immediately followed by two of the greatest bowlers Australia's ever seen puts him under the radar.

Crowe invented Super Max 8 in 1996 and the poster mentioned a 1997 tournament.

I know he changed it to 12's but couldn't remember when that happened.
