Watching the Gabba test in the 94-95 Ashes and Tony Greig said ''the natives are getting restless''. Now we know where Dwayne got that saying from. This is the test where Warnie took 8-71.

You could put together a decent argument that the Whatmore Sri Lankan side changed the way cricket is played. It was only a couple of years after they redefined they way teams approached the first fifteen overs in ODI cricket that T20 cricket came along.
It was genuinely sad to watch them do so poorly in last years ODI WC. You felt like they were doing really well in quite a few games and then capitulated. They are showing an ODI series from the mid 90s now between Australia and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka had a great ODI side back then and were a real drawcard with Jayasuriya, Kaluwitharana, Aravinda, Ranatunga, Vaas and Murali.
It was a far cry from when they first turned up for the WSC tri series back in the mid 80s when they were like the equivalent of Bangladesh.
Unfortunately they couldn't maintain that standard and reverted back to being a minnow again but at least they won a World Cup in 1996.

They were absolutely a great team back then and even now and again can pull out some decent results - they tied at home against Australia in a 2 match series just a couple years ago. You just feel like there's enough talent there to be more than what they are, but what they hell to do they do with a political situation like they have. Can only work with what they have.
I don't even remember McDermott as I was a tad young, but watching this channel and basically every match he's in he is dominating. But being immediately followed by two of the greatest bowlers Australia's ever seen puts him under the radar.McDermott does tend to get overlooked for great Australian bowlers these days, the likes of McGrath and Warne overshadowed him later on.
Merv Hughes and Bruce Reid are underrated too, both fine test bowlers back in their day.
If that is Martin Crowe's Super Max 8 format, then yes.Something different. Super 8 tournament in Malaysia from 1997.
Was that an early attempt at T20?
1996 must have been the first game. Will dig around a bit.Copyright at the bottom of the second picture is 1995.
