Last year on a nice day in mid May we had 33,805 to the St Kilda match having won 4 of the previous 6 matches and the usual narrow loss against Collingwood.

This year with no finals hope for either team and a wet, cold and windy night, 30,000 would be a miracle.

This year we had more than 40,000 against Brisbane on Mothers Day.

In the same round last year we had 36,700 against GWS on a nice night for July. I expect the weather will drop the crowd significantly.

I had watched the 98 grand final at home when i was 8 years old and went out in the car with family to see people going nuts in the city, but of course i was young and didn't know how hard it was to win one.

I watched at home with rellies and friends.
After the win, I told my young niece to celebrate big because consecutive Flags are so rare and that it might be as long as even 20 years before we win another.

Start with 29k. Saints will add another 500. Debut matters not, nobody (apart from friends/faimily) are deciding to go to a late season dead rubber to see a lockdown small defender debut. Add weather. 28k. Protest, Rankine, Rossball matter not. There's an inherent minimum crowd that is around the 29k mark.
