i am probably not going to hear the end of this but after analyzing the crows and swans list for my ladder preddictor for next season i believe that the crows and swans are on the way down.

the crows have mcleod basset goodwin edwards all hitting the end of there careers and quite simply they are the team. in my opinion the crows will fall next season and begin the end of an era which will give those champs mentioned above the chance to leave as they know playing on is useless.

swannies- there getting older and heres a couple of facts they have 17 players that have played less than 20 games 12 players that cnat get a game and not 1 single player besides malcheksi thats decent who is under 23 years of age.

two significant interstate teams are falling teams like the tigers and lions will be rising

put ur money on crows for spoon next season yes they will have there star players i cant see sucsess from theese boys

I don't recall any Swans fans (or anyone from the club) ever pronouncing a dynasty. They are merely a team that has managed to stay pretty competitive over the past decade, with a couple of obvious peaks. They won't be - can't be - "up" all the time.

Its a Dynasty if you like or not. A Dynasty doesn't have to defined by winning premerships, it doesn't necassirly have to involve winning (Univeristy not winning a game for three years)

Last time we were tipped for the spoon the boys went 18-4 and won the minor premiership, only to blow it the finals.

The AFL is so even these days that you really could throw a blanket over about 12 sides. Luck is playing a role in a teams success more than ever.

it's a dynasty if you actually win. if you lose, it's a missed opportunity but the window may still be open. st.kilda haved flowered it bigtime, i see there window has closed.

in the tanking era of footy it takes 4 wins to get the wooden spoon

the days of teams with a clear home ground advantage in 10/11 games winning only 4 of them are over

You quoted four players? How many players does an AFL team require? Unlike Hawthorn, the Crows don't rely on a handful of players to win games. They proved this last season by making the finals despite the most significant injury list in the league.

You are demonstrating how little you know about football. The Crows will make the finals again next season. There are a number of players coming thru with plaenty of improvement.

Nice one Nostradamus!

Crows and Swans dynasty? I think people really need to check the dictionary for the meaning of the word "dynasty".

Or refer them to Central Districts right now over in the SANFL last 8 Grand Finals, 5 flags from them.

If you're going to use dynasty, it might be in the style of play. Both were masters of tempo football, a style that now seems to have become obsolete in favour of running, attacking football.

The sad thing about the media throwing words like "dynasties" and phrases like "dynasty about to begin" is that the majority of morons in Melbourne begin to believe the crap.

I never once recalled anyone calling Sydney a dynasty. A consistent finals performer yes, hardly a dynasty.

morons.

Why are Hawker's fans on BF morons? considering the Swans have had their ass for the last few years i find it quite rich....lol..

Granted they've got a superstar in Franklin and a great mid field in Mitchell, Hodge... you know what... blah blah blah....

At least the swans walk the walk...

Maybe its time we scratched the word "dynasty" from the BigFooty vocabulary...its being abused in the same way as the word "champion"

Cant talk for Crows fans but Sydney fans i know have never even once talked about it...not in here either. Many yrs of competitiveness and SOME success...its about all u can ask for as a fan.

Weagle fans are the only ones i can recall claiming future dynasties...they had the now famous "1 Pt Dysnaty" but thats about it.

"a succcession of rulers from the same family line". Taken literally, the current 2007 premiers are the only ones that could lay claim to being a dynasty given the number of great Father-Son combos they have. I'll bet there are more than a few cats fans hoping to get 100+ games from the current crop and that they all have sons ;)

The Swans were never a dynasty, era, epoch or any other misapplied term- they were a solid and honest team made the most of their premiership opportunity. It takes something special- like Brisbane Lions 01-03- to lay claim to phrases like that. It's like the term "superstar"- when everyone that does something great on the field is described as one, you run out of words for people who have actually earned the description over their careers.

Crows and Swans will still be competitive teams.

Crows are going to shut down teams and play boring footy but it works. Rutten is still good, Stevens has improved out of sight over the last couple of years. McLeod was still outrunning guys like Pearce last year, he is fine. Edwards, Thompson, Knights and Goodwin still makes a very good midfield. Hentschel and Biglands are like getting two legitimate KP players you didnt have.

Roos leadership is a big out for them but he basically didnt contribute over the last season and a half and they have strong leadership. Adelaide are coming to a close. Goodwin, McLeod and Edwards are still clearly their 3 best players but they do have some good young kids, just no one on the level of those 3, particularly McLeod who is easily the best player they've ever had.

As for Sydney, Kirk is the kind of player who could play to at least 35 and also the best leader in the league, he will be fine. Defense is the worry, still got the grunt, will be a much better team simply for Hall being healthy, his injuries this year basically killed the structure of the whole side, and if Sydney are anything it is structured. Kennelly will be back and is as big an in for Sydney as a guy like Cousins is for WC or Buckley for Collingwood. Ie. That guy who basically didnt contribute all year and is suddenly back.

Sydney are most likely going to fall very hard when they do and I worry about the defense it is small and starting to be a step slow. Crouch gives us a lot of speed though if he can get a full preseason in and has been a big out. O'Keefe, Goodes, Malceski and Kennelly are a good enough foursome to keep us off the bottom for the next few years though.

Gee two teams that have been up for 4 years, and are getting older, will experience a dip in form? You are so smart, s-m-a-t, i mean s-m-a-r-t!

Dynasties? The only dynasties I can remember are Brisbane in the early part of this decade and Hawthorn in the '80s.

Correct.

No dynasties involved with either Crows or Swans at present.

Crows dynasty? wtf lol.

You realise it's over a decade ago when they last won a flag.

The Swans never had a dynasty. We won one flag.

And the Crows certainly didn't have a dynasty, they won zero.

As for next year, I think that we can have one final crack at flag with this group of players. I believe that's what Roosy has said as well. After that though, we'll drop off.
