Crows best 22?

What I'd like to see
F: Petrenko Tippett Lynch
HF: Callinan Walker Wright
C: Sloane Dangerfield Martin
HB: Vince Talia Reilly
B: Shaw Rutten Johncock/Brown/Doughty
FOL: Jacobs Thompson van Berlo
INT: Mackay Smith Henderson (Jaensch)
*Doughty has to be in the side for his hardness in defence, but I would rather see Brown or Johncock. Not that Martin is on the wing, where he is better suited.

What I expect to see
F: Petrenko Tippett McKernan
HF: Callinan Walker Vince
C: Mackay Dangerfield Sloane
HB: Douglas Talia Reilly
B: Shaw Rutten Doughty
FOL: Jacobs Thompson van Berlo
INT: Wright Porplyzia Knights (Smith)

B: Johncock, Rutten, Shaw/Henderson
HB: Reilly, Talia, Jaensch
C: Sloane, Dangerfield, Mackay
HF: Wright, Walker, Petrenko
F: Callinan, Tippett, McKernan/Jenkins
R: Jacobs, van Berlo, Thompson
I: Doughty, Porplyzia, Vince, Douglas

Otten and Smack are two players I cannot bear to watch this year, they are too frustrating to watch. Its hard to judge Knights given he hardly played yet, but it looks like he is finished. I am not totally convinced on Jenkins either but I think he will be a cert in 1-2 years time.

F: Petrenko Tippett Callinan
HF: Wright Walker Vince
C: Mackay Dangerfield Sloane
HB: Douglas Talia Reilly
B: Johncock Rutten Doughty
R: Jacobs Thompson van Berlo
Int: Jaench Porplyzia Henderson (Shaw)

I like Wright, while I think he should be contributing more each week he is a goal shark. Shaw has a long way to go but has shown some good signs.

We went 5-1 with No Douglas.

Whatever... have him in your 22, argue he is better than Petrenko, Knights Jaensch... I don't care. But let's not pretend he has a major impact on our team. His presence is completely incidental.
In your opinion Carl. Obviously Sando rates him, and he knows a lot more about him than we do. He is best 22, I don't know how that isn't clear to any of the Dougy haters yet. As soon as you get that into your heads, maybe it'll be easier to move on.

And he is a better player than those 3 mentioned, and would be in the top 10 or close at our club. You and a few others may not agree, but luckily you aren't on the match committee at the AFC.

5-1 without him... didn't play in the Sydney, Carlton or Geelong games that our without question were our best performances of the season.

Maybe it's a coincidence. I don't think it is. His rushed, fumbly, bomby, dumb football infects the team and he drags us down. Those 6 weeks without him were my favourite ever times watching the Crows, 97 and 98 finals series aside. It was bliss. No Douglas, no Stevens and you saw exactly what we were capable off without them.

Of course Douglas returned for the last quarter of the Collingwood game, the impact was instantaneous - we lost the lead and surrendered the match. The magic was gone.

I'll marry Sando if he drops Douglas this week.

I always suspected that you were a Croatian Model.

After yesterdays very average display there is much debate about changes to the side and what Adelaides actual best 22 is at the moment. Post on here what you think the best 22 is and discussion about selection.

eg.
B: Johncock Rutten Doughty/Shaw
HB: Smith Talia Reilly
C: Mackay Thompson Sloane
HF: Petrenko Walker Wright
F: Porps Tippett Callinan
R: Jacobs Danger Van Berlo
Bench: Jenkins, Vince, Knights
Sub:Henderson

I like that line up very much.

Interesting a few haven't selected Doughty or Douglas, there must be alot of idiot Crows supporters.

Douglas just needs a good run with injuries. And he'll come good again.

Doughty is just shit. Too old too slow.

Offers no more than Broadie Smith, Graham Johncock, right now. And all he has over Matt Jaensch, Luke Brown, and even Broadie Martin is experience, in all other aspects these guys are better. Experience is only something they will get when Doughty isnt gifted his gold pass.

Worst 200+ Gamer in AFL History

Not idiots.. just clueless.

I give you Exhibit A:
Doughty is just shit. Too old too slow.

Please tell me this is some kind of sick joke?

Not saying he is. I know what some are thinking, "there's no shit 200 gamer", but someone has to be the worst don't they?
Of course someone has to be the worst.. by definition. That said, while Doughty is clearly the least loved & talented of Adelaide's 200 game players, I sincerely doubt that he'd be in the bottom 20% of all AFL/VFL players to reach that milestone.

As for proof by contradiction.. I give you Joel Bowden (265 games for Richmond). Actually, almost half Richmond's 200 gamers would be lesser players than Doughty.

If its a wet game...

B: Doughty Rutten Johncock
HB: Douglas Talia Reilly
C: Mckay Thompson Sloane
HF: Petrenko Walker Wright
F: Callinan Tippet Lynch
R: Jacobs Dangerfield Van Berlo

IC: Vince, Porplyzia, Smith (Henderson)

Emergencies: Smith, Jenkins, Knights

Any disagreements?

Depends which Johncock we're talking about.. the historic one, who is one of the league's best small defenders and a player who is desperately unlucky never to have made the AA team... or the 2012 model who is overweight, out of form - and currently out of the team?

I like having Henderson as sub - gives us great flexibility and I think he has potential to make a real impact when relieved of the green bib.

It's hard to get the balance right in the back 6. The 6 you've named there would leave us short of run & drive off the HB line. With Doughty, Rutten, Talia & Reilly all selected (and I agree that all 4 are in our best 22), the last two positions need to go to relatively quick players who can run off their opponents. I'm not sure that Johncock & Douglas are the ideal men for the job. I'm equally unsure who is! This is the task facing our selectors - do they go with Jaensch & Martin, neither of whom can actually defend? I think Smith is probably a better defender than either of these and we wouldn't lose a lot in mobility. Maybe someone can tell me a bit more about Brown. I gather he's a reasonable defender, but what's his pace & kicking like?

Assuming the answers to the Brown questions were favourable.. I'd be tempted to drop Johncock (on current form), replacing him with Brown. I'd then swap Smith & Douglas, moving Smith to HBF and Douglas to the bench.

The forward line looks good, though I'm not convinced that Lynch is in our best 22 - and he's definitely not in the starting 18. Then again, Porplyzia is no longer a certain starter in my eyes (though the selectors still think differently) and I wouldn't object too strenuously to the Porplzyia<-->Lynch swap you've proposed. That said, I'd probably prefer a Knights<-->Porplzyia swap, for at least a few weeks, with Lynch taking over if the Knights experiment doesn't work out.

** Note that you've named Smith twice - on the IC and Emergency lists.

Yeah maybe go Knights instead of Lynch for now, Especially given his BOG in the SANFL last week.
Porps to the pocket and Knights on the bench.
