I never understood why there was no one at the club who cared enough to get it right.

Like surely there is an official and acceptable Crows blue, red and yellow. Anything that isn't these, unless at the request of the club is rejected.

I can't imagine Collingwood accepting off-white and dark brown stripes.

Why weren't they demanding samples early the year prior for approval, or did they and just not care?

I'm sure I remember incidents where the club eventually acknowledged something wasn't but it was like "oh well too late to fix it this year, they are already on their way to our warehouse, we'll hope for the best next year".

Maybe you can accept it in a year where we had to change supplier with little notice, but even then, you surely find one who can deliver on your requirements.

From memory, it was one of Trigg’s last sign offs before he left.

Wasn’t there a rumour that Fagan was furious with BLK, but the damage was already done, hence the 12 month wait.

Fagan has his critics, but to be fair to him, he had an awful lot of shit sandwiches left by Trigg that he had to deal with

I don't understand how it so difficult for guernsey manufacturers to get the colour scaling right.

It's amazing how blues and yellows in particular can alter significantly, based on which supplier gets the contract (this is not a Crows specific problem)

Surely it is a basic part of winning a lucrative contract that you are able to accurately depict the colours of a club.
Militaries around the world understand that uniforms matter. How you present yourself around your comrades matters. Club colours matter. They are not just the club colours, they are our South Australian state colours and they look like absolute garbage when they are shown incorrectly. It's gold, red and navy, not yellow, red and mid-blue or royal blue.

I think Fagan's problem was he seemed to be the architect of the we dont communicate and keep things in house attitude. Which lead to the media just printing what they like. Especially around the camp. I also have the feeling he seemed to be more intent on maintaining the status quo rather than putting his stamp on the club. Like the role was a stepping stone for him onto something bigger. He totally underestimated the role imo and got found out.

Players themselves said the AFC never felt like a club during Triggs reign. Probably why Roo felt it important to find someone with a club mentality. Trigg lasted way too long.

actually - isn't the state colour royal blue?

Yes, the crows darkened it for differentiation I imagine. But it was based on the state colours.
Which in turn meant that Port had no right to complain about us using the state guernsey design with our colours, when they do the exact same thing?

About 2 years before he finished I sent an email to fagan and said exactly this. I told him he needs to stamp himself on the club, move out people who just want to maintain their own role and make a statement about what the club should be. If he didn't, he would be on the way out with few career opportunities.
He made his decision.

I think Silvers is doing exactly this.

Fagen came with a good rep. But did nothing. Would not surprise me if he was shopping himself around throughout his time at the Crows and basically wanted to hide in that role.

Or, in the BLK days, grey blue, salmon and mustard.

I think he also had the (continued) attitude of commercializing your own media. People want information about the Crows then they come to the club website/app/social media to get it and not The Advertiser or Herald Sun or whatever. So you do that by freezing out those 3rd parties and keep it all to yourself.

Fagan also wanted to build a sporting empire with baseball, eSports.

We’re now football-focused again, which is plenty given we have SANFL and AFLW teams.

Definitely drew a line in the sand with rucci which I think most of us supported at the time, did appear to backfire though as put others offside and they seemed to turn on us in support

From memory we had Cari in our pocket prior too seemingly trading info for favorable press and I reckon we cut that chord with a negative response

Trying to find something to spend my voucher on. Kudos for expanding the number of hats, but geez there's some strage colours there.

Such a shit logo
