totally understand how this drove alot of the narrative throughout the 3 movies, but I always felt like everything else about Marty's character would suggest that being called 'chicken/yellow/scared' shouldn't have so easily baited him - like i don't think he should have cared enough

but anyway :D

edit: though he was definitely hung up about rejection and not being good enough, so maybe it does fit -

I always looked at it as his entire life he'd watched his Dad get bullied and refuse to stand up for himself whenever Biff would come over. So his reaction to that is to refuse to back down from anything when someone else tries the same with him. So yea, he's easily baited by being called scared because he doesn't want to be a coward like his Dad.

Ok mate, sure thing. Looks like a great design and, in my experience, the club seems to be always open to constructive well thought out ideas (and criticisms). I had never really followed this thread until recent days but am enjoying re-learning about the history of the guernseys

I coincidentally had the Clubs head honcho email me a few days ago asking if I was happy with our fixture for 2024 (after my previous emails sent to the AFL/Club Mgt re overall fixture inequities then followed these up again leveraging ā€œKeays-Gateā€. I will include the design (post 2431 above I assume) when I respond this weekend and let you know if any feedback.

Anything else for the clubs attention that should be included?

I think it's great.

Personally think it was easier to watch football on tv when most of the clubs had a white or similar clash jumper but there always seemed to be clubs who thought they were above it and the AFL let them get away with it, and no one seems to care now.

So if everyone else is getting away with it, I'd rather we wear a decent guernsey that clashes than one of those ugly white ones.

I guess my only minor concern is that we had a set most people liked with either the red or yellow based hoops jumper in 2021-23, and many people were like ok thats us, lets lock that in, but they only managed to keep either of them for 1 year (yellow) and 2 years (red). So what happens in 2 years time?

I sort of trust the current lot to come up with something decent, but what if it's not them, do we get another attempt thats the quality of those from 2010-20 or worse, a "retro" re-issue of something from that era?

Happy to have this one while we've got it though.

If they go for another retro number then surely this one gets a go first.

I remember having the debate with someone once that we should be wearing yellow guernseys instead of white.

Their argument was that yellow is synonymous with cowardice. I pointed out that white is literally the colour of surrender.

Some cracking sporting teams around the world with yellow kit

My only real problem with the yellow kit we used was the washed out shade of yellow. The yellow used on richmonds away jumper I quite like. WWT looks ok, particularly with the navy shorts.

BLK's mustard yellow was hideous. That was a monkey paw guernsey. "You get a yellow guernsey... but it's manufactured by BLK."

ISC tidied it up the next year and had it looking better.

I don't understand how it so difficult for guernsey manufacturers to get the colour scaling right.

It's amazing how blues and yellows in particular can alter significantly, based on which supplier gets the contract (this is not a Crows specific problem)

Surely it is a basic part of winning a lucrative contract that you are able to accurately depict the colours of a club.

BLK (and their former name Kooga) were notorious for getting colours quite wrong.

When they did the state jumper, the red was practically orange, I recall the black on Glenelgā€™s guernsey being borderline brown, among other abominations they did to colours

I never understood why there was no one at the club who cared enough to get it right.

Like surely there is an official and acceptable Crows blue, red and yellow. Anything that isn't these, unless at the request of the club is rejected.

I can't imagine Collingwood accepting off-white and dark brown stripes.

Why weren't they demanding samples early the year prior for approval, or did they and just not care?

I'm sure I remember incidents where the club eventually acknowledged something wasn't but it was like "oh well too late to fix it this year, they are already on their way to our warehouse, we'll hope for the best next year".

Maybe you can accept it in a year where we had to change supplier with little notice, but even then, you surely find one who can deliver on your requirements.

Some manufacturers just use the closest colours they have at their disposal. The yellow Richmond used when they first went with Puma in 2017 was Borussia Dortmund's yellow (who were also with Puma)

It's mind blowing to consider but it literally seemed like no one at the club even realised the guernsey is kind of important. I feel like we must have the right people in the right places now, but back then it seemed like an afterthought, at best.

Remember how it took a fan social media campaign to bring back the hoops? Adidas, then Puma, then Reebok all had side panels, and then BLK in their incompetence just assumed that swim flags were our design. And NO ONE at the club thought to ask "Why don't the hoops go all the way around?" When fans started complaining you could tell nobody at the club had even noticed it. It's fair to rag on BLK for that but the club must have approved it. This goes to your point as well. Did the club receive samples? Who was ticking them off? Was anyone? It was embarassing.

I think it more or less took that campaign for the club to go "Wait... people actually care about this stuff."
