How lovely.

But what about those that can't afford the extra $60 or so for Gold Membership?

Macca19,
The Crows had also to payoff the licence fee at $400k per year. Admittedly not as high as the Power $800k pa, however the Crows still contributed after payment of their licence fee approx $800k-$1m to the SANFL. Not bad.
Now tell me what have the Power done in their 4 years in the AFL. The SANFL is still waiting for a decent dividend and had to bail them out last year by refinancing the licence fee over a longer term. But I forget, we owe so much to the PAPs. As one well known President would say "Pigs Arse".
Don't let a few facts get in the way of a good story.

Yes, but don't Port Power supporters have to pay extra to go back to the Social Club to see the players? $60 extra is a bit much, but we go without a lot of other things, we get our priorities right! lol.

Crow54!

And how often can the Crows supporters visit this Shed?

Answer: Only about 11 times a year and you pay $60, approximately $5.40 a visit.

At the Port Adelaide Football Club we pay $99 for the year but we are able to visit on 365 days a year, approximately 27c a visit.

5km's of curtain, funny that one, who made it, Mrs Sanders?

As far as I know the Shed will be open for each home game, and probably the Power Showdown home game. BUT that $60 is not only for access to the shed, it does include other benefits.

And I can also visit my Crows Social Club (for nothing) at Footy Park for a meal any time I want, big smile. So I have the best of both worlds.

Geezus!

Now its a port v crows social club war!

HAHAHA

Whats next?

Scott, how are Ports toilets looking?

I'm not prepared to pay $60 for access to "shed parties", voting rights, and priority to Grand Final tickets... $60 for these things is ridiculous. Why not open the shed to all supporters? After all, we're supposed to be the "Team For All South Australians", not the "Team For Those Who Can Afford It".

you contradicted yourself a bit there...you start by saying granted port had to pay it off at 800k a year (double the crows) and then you say, SANFL is still waiting for a decent dividend.

If you ask me, none of the money should go back to the SANFL, im sure they can make there own money...but once our fee has gone we will make a dividend of substantial amount. Now that the fee is down tot he same price per year the crows one was, we will make a divdend. Easy as that.

haha, i wouldnt pay for voting rights, especially when the crows dont seem to give a rats arse who the supporters vote in.

Yeah, they all have their own agendas...

Now lets check the Maths again, Macca19.

Crows: $800k to $1m + licence fee ($400k) = $1.2m to $1.4m
Power: Nil + licence fee ($800k) = at best $800k.

Simple arithmetic, I'd say. We wait with anticipation the dividend from the Power. Watch that space.

Do other teams have open Social Clubs for all supporters, or just for their "members". Obviously the Crows have decided to have different levels of membership to get a little more money in their coffers. There's a level of membership above the "Gold" category, which I would like to be in, but even with my enthusiasm and prioritising, I draw the line there!!!! That's life. It's like shopping at David Jones - if you can afford it, go for it, if not, live with it.

P.S. Gold m/ship also includes a free ticket to Sunday arvo at the footy, amongst other benefits!

Why should we draw the line there and "live with it?" They go on about how we're "The Team For All South Australians" - what a load of crap! They cash in on us enough already, without this "Gold Membership" crap. You get access to the shed parties, voting rights, and what else? It's bullshit - why shouldn't all the supporters be able to go to shed parties? Or at least have the option to buy a "Shed Party" ticket for a few dollars or something...

We're not the Team For All South Australians - we're the team for those who can ****ing afford it. Instead of concentrating on all this crap for the chardonnay sippers, they should actually acknowledge that most of their fan base can't afford an extra $60 a year, on top of the $150 or so that we already have to fork out for our season tickets...

Go South.... stop whinging. I'm certainly no Chardonnay sipper, it makes me really angry to be called that. Why don't you go support the Power if you're so unhappy with the Crows. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you are really a PAP supporter in disguise, lol.

Well, I'm sorry for having an opinion of my own - unlike most of the rest of you, who seem to glide with what's popular at the time...

I'm as much of a Crows supporter as anyone - I go to every match, as many functions as possible, go to Melbourne at least once a year, and went to the Prelims and Grand Finals in 1997 and 1998.

If I have an opinion about something, I'm going to ****ing voice it! Just because my opinion fails to "arse kiss" the club like practically everyone else on this board - I get abused.

As the Port (shudder) supporter say - Get your blinkers off, for christs sake.

Maybe you're not a chardonnay sipper - I frankly couldn't give a shit, personally. The point I was trying to make, is that the club are so preoccupied with making money, that they're forgetting about the average supporters, that have been loyal to the club from day 1.

I know Go South irl and he'd rather die than follow port. No one is ever 100% happy with what their club offers then. I've been a Crows season ticket holder and supporter since day one and frankly i'm not happy with half the stuff that happens at the AFC. You only need to look interstate to see what keeps supporters happy, and maybe that's what the AFC needs to start doing keeping it's general supporters that go week in week out no matter what happy, rather than those sipping the chardonnay wearing their Gucci suits only turning up when they feel like it.

I don't think for a moment though that not everyone isn't happy with what they are doing because some are, but for the majority that aren't maybe they need to look at doing something else.

We are going off on tangents here. This topic was originally about the Shed. I think it's good that the Club is improving this facility for its fans, even though it has to limit entrance (at the moment) to those prepared to pay extra.

However, I am definitely not one of those sycophantic fans who agrees with everything the Club does. I have written a couple of letters to Bill Sanders complaining of things I'm not happy with. His replies have been far from agreeable to me. I don't like quite a few of the things the Crows do (or don't do), but the general enjoyment I get from going to games and functions obviously outweighs my dissatisfaction with other areas. This probably applies to fans of most AFL clubs.

Looking at both Go Souths and Crow54s posts i pretty much agree with both of your theories. I tend to sway more toward Go Souths theories, as it does seem like the crows heirachy would rather make money than keep those that actually help make that money (supporters) happy. Most of the crows fans ive come into contact with (i used to be a crow myself believe it or not) are well off and tend to agree with everything the club does...like Graham Cornes
smile.gif
There are the normal supporters, plenty of em. All im trying to say is, support the club the way you want to...noone is gonna agree with everything...i certainly font afree with everything Port does...but im happy where my club is heading, im very happy about how things are run and whos in charge down there. What i find great is Port have no quarms in contacting you if you have a problem of some sort...i send the club an email after about round 6 last year (in the trouble period) disagreeing with quite a few things the club was doing. Bucky rang me up and we spoke about what was happening and opinions for about 25 minutes...which i found great, and a lot was cleared up!

GO South, good on you for voicing your opinion and standing up for what you want (as most football supporters, not just crows supporters, tend to go with whatever their club offers)
Crow54, im glad your happy with most of the happenings down at crowland, and may your season be a succesful one for both of you

Macca, for a Port supporter, you are an exception to the rule, lol.

Bye the way, Studley doesn't always agree with the Crows, he wasn't a happy chappy with the way Tony Modra was treated.
