Rucci has been shut out by the Crows. His colleagues don’t like that. Wilson changed tack around the time pepper pig was in the news for molesting a young woman... about the same time she was guest speaker at Port Power function. Oddly from that point, pepper pig never rated a mention. Tex on the other hand.... 5AA has also been shut out.... and what treatment are we getting from them?

Exactly
Tex has been crucified this year.

And I don’t give a red rats what 5AA end up saying because today it’s Caro back tracking.
Next time they talk to Williams, no doubt it will be the same.

Sooner or later Rowe will be backpedaling too

He had not said conspiracy at all.

It’s clear as day since we lost the
GF for some reason AFC has copped it from all quarters and in typical fashion, AFC ignored it

Jesus Wept - the stance according to some of the media idiots was a reason we lost the GF.

Our captain SHOULD NOT have been the one sent out to face the media each time separate bits of shit thrown from across the border and a certain island hit our fan !

The admin are solely responsible for that media fiasco - and they deserve every criticism for it.

Inappropriate “ going ons at the camp? This time last week it was brutal and mind altering torture.
Now it’s “inappropriate”.

Going to be interesting watching the hyperbole, of the last few weeks at least, getting wound back from the outlandish claims believed by so many, to “inappropriate “.
Im using a fact. The talking stick was inappropriate and offensive to some.
So the admin are solely responsible for the media fiasco then why are people cracking the shits at the media?

The talking stick issue was addressed. You know that.
Pyke “mistakes were made”
- too little too late , maybe but at least he’s done a mea culpa of sorts

The media have had a field day:
“Horrific “ incidents according to Wilson
Players tied naked to trees - Williams
Song played on a loop

..... where would you like me to stop !

McGovern was unhappy before the camp / but hey , ignore the players that have RE SIGNED - including Sloane who most of the media said was GAWWWWNNNNN

I’m not saying for one minute any of this was handled well - but I sure as shit don’t jump at shadows thrown up by the media without any substance to back it up

Do you seriously believe Tex deserved the crap he copped this year ?

And yet the best defence is to do as Port did. And we chose not to. Thats terrible management and media strategy.
What is it that Port did and that we should have done?
Didn't Port say that what was reported was not necessarily true? That they had videos of the details but would not divulge?
Or that the AFL had investigated the report and found it to contain details that justified the penalties handed out to SPP?
That Port actually did not agree with the AFL findings?
Do you really think that it was what Port said that stopped the Victorian journos from asking for the resignation of Port hierarchy?
What is it, exactly, that port did and that our club should have done?

Excellent post

Believes there’s a media conspiracy, doesn’t believe inappropriate things may of happened on a camp.
I know what is more likely.
I never said I think the camp went all perfecto and nothing was wrong. I just think with all the overall statements by club/players/CM and given our 5-2 start (second best start ever in our club history), it can hardly be called a disaster of a camp. Try to see it objectively.

Port embedded the journo. If you cant see that strategy worked to defuse the SPP story then I cant help you

PR and maintain a healthy positive relationship with the media

Not everything but as I explained in an earlier post there were a lot of news stories about him this year because there were a lot of things that went on with him this year.
We as a club have hung him out to dry, that’s on us (the club) not the media.
Everything that’s happened this year should be attributed to the club, no one else, that’s taking the easy way out.

Of course it can, Pyke himself said it was a fail more than once.
Even in his bnf speech he said they probably took the mental side too far.
You guys want facts, these are facts from our own coach.
They dumped them mid contract, paid them out.
Held a ridiculous presser.
Douglas called it a disaster.
How wasn’t it anything but?

Mate, you’re better than this. The club admits fault, ALL fans know the club has messed up a few things. NOONE can dispute this.
Admitting and seeing faults doesn’t imply the Media is ALL correct. The real question is how much BS and agenda bias is the Media towards the Crows this year? I believe it’s a gigantic, mother freakin’ load!

I guess you guys wont be looking forward to next season.
The media are only going to have us in their sights again.
They really need to kill off this club such is their hate for us.
I’m sure they won’t rest until it’s done.

Then I guess they wont rest. The will come through this. Yes we will be have to wear some shit but it will slowly blow away. take a look at Essendon. But I will agree that the club must change its manner in how it inter-reacts with the media.....and the members as well.

Because in life, there are good and bad results. You keep going with the good and you try and make less of the bad ones.

My point really, is that it was far from a "disaster" as the Media is making out. How can a disaster of a preseason lead to a 5-2 start? And probably our second best start ever in the history of the Crows!

Surely you make a conclusion based on the whole season, taking into consideration the whole shit show, rather than a portion of it?....surely!!

Regardless of the 5-2 start the season has been embarrassing from a football and administration perspective.

I fear we haven't seen the totall fallout from the incompetence of our club either.

2019 will be interesting.

Everyone keeps mentioning this 5-2 start like we were playing great footy.

The Richmond win was alright, probably not as good as the Sydney game which we almost lost. The other 3 wins were not very convincing against the bottom 3 sides in St.Kilda, Gold Coast and Carlton. We were not travelling well at all and were flattered by having played such dud sides.

We’re talking about Caro? o_O
A google search will bring up her articles over a 2 week period?
What more do you want?
He wasn’t charged by the police if I recall correctly?
Also I’m not sure why all journalists have to cover every topic exactly evenly?

Sydney lost 5 at home this year, Richmond didn’t win outside of Melbourne this year (except gold coast). The start was hardly impressive.

You don’t think it interesting the amount of scrutiny we’ve been under from the very “journos” and stations and papers we’ve been deliberately ignoring?
Like ch 7 - 9 and Fox Jenny , so we give our press releases to SBS now.
The camp was a disaster, pre season a disaster and injury management a disaster, keeping key player and coaches a disaster and all club want to do is push it under carpet and spin all well.

Thank goodness Elspeth is on our side

Yes.
The things the club DID do should attributed to the club.
The injuries that derailed the team are, in the main, what caused the “disaster “ you keep referring to (bearing in mind we were after such a “disaster “ only 1 game out the 8) are entirely the fault of the club.

But the club should not have to have worn criticism of events that clearly have not taken place.

NO ONE is suggesting the media bat at 100%

Then why are they believed 100% by some on here ?

The Sydney game was the best win of the year IMO.
Undermanned battered and bruised.
Showdown 1 and Freo cost us.

He called it a “bit of a disaster”
and listed the players conditions when they returned and the mental effects of losing the GF as well.

But , again , media focus on “disaster” and “camp”.

And supporters lap it up. So even when a player points out what the go was, it made no difference
