Re N Smart, from talking to people outside the Club he doing a good job at the Crows, remember he not in the Football dept area he is putting in the hours in the Adelaide Sport and Entertainment side of the club a separate body to the Football dept. So I guess we judge Smart on how that works,
ie Legacy, Bite and their media productions.

Burton different story, hearing all sort of mixed messages, not many good ones.
I leaning to one story that only one of either Burton or Hass will be around next year. maybe both disappearing. Some are even saying he hanging Hass out to dry. Rumors only not facts or proof.
Burton body langue from the press conference was not good, He looked like a boy sent to the lions and acted like one.

I’ve heard from inside the club that they’re both morons - that’s why we’ve sidelined Smart with meaningless and irrelevant shit.

See, I can make stuff up too.

Rumors about Haas? No facts?

Have you not been paying attention to our injury toll?

The guys getting paid 100k+, he should be able to handle himself in front of the media.

I don't mind them giving a guy a crack on potential, but you need an experienced footy related guy above him to guide him. Fagan isn't that guy. This isn't a middle management role, this is head of footy ops and we've seen what sort of a cluster**** has ensued.

Come on mate, it’s not look footy is our reason for being.

John Reid, now we’re talking

This is one of the most concerning parts. How did we go into the press conference with zero plan and zero idea what was about to unfold. You had to know what the questions were going to be. If you didn't, you are an idiot.
So, who should have been responsible for this? Shuts? Fagan? Anyone?

Brayshaw etc.. are correct.

We had to come out on the front foot. Talk about the CM program, what the intentions were, what their role was, what successes we felt we had, the camp (and hose down rumours by explaining what was actually done) and then mentioned that after reviewing with the playing group and after discussing with CM, we have decided not to continue. Be open and honest, remove the 'false stories', make it sound like it is something tried, reviewed and then moved on from.

It's a very simple plan. You can then open to questions and if you don't want to go in to any more specifics you can refer to the information already provided.

Instead we sent two guys very unprepared into a situation that became hostile very quickly. By sitting like lame ducks, the media saw blood in the water and went after them both. Pyke handled it pretty well. Burton did not.
To go out there and begin by saying your not sure why your there on a Saturday afternoon is just horrible.

There needs to be questions asked about how we are consistently not reading the mood and getting it wrong.

What is obvious is that we are lacking any kind of leadership in the club at all.

Burton needs monitoring. Due diligence was NOT done (no way you hire those guys if you did it). Once the camp issue leaked we needed a proper response, instead months later we put that joke up. Our media strategy was horrible. We had no clear plan.

The whole episode has exposed a large list of issues that need to be fixed.

Good points. Burton though is still manager of football and even if he was induced into the presser he still should have had a plan to follow and a credible outcome to present. He is our MAnager of Football ! He is not the only one coming up short on this saga but he is a manager, the manager, and can't have his hand held by others where his job performance is on display.

Hey I also post on the Esport page as well,

You have the wrong idea or take from the no facts, the reason I mention it is I don't have factual information only a rumor that Burton is looking to hang him out to dry. so no facts only rumor. Hope that has clear up any miss understanding.

For all Reid's faults he's the main reason we have 2 Premiership Cups in the trophy cabinet
Indeed, he coaxed Blight to AFC.

But he also caused us the most damage too.

Looking at Fages and Nigel Smarts twitters

Fages didn't "like" anything from between the Hawks game until Lynch signed, bar a tweet about some rugby reunion. Didn't "like" our announcement about CM. Didn't "like" Burton and Pike's performance. Nada.

Smart off in Singapore playing video games.

No support for Pike and Burton whatsoever.

Fagan is a fraud, he'll remain in hiding until shit turns around. He promoted Brett Burton into his role, he's responsible for his performance. He doesn't want to remind anyone that he exists at the moment.

Exactly. When will the AFC learn to front up with a human, happy to communicate face that gives considered but direct information that most people can understand and accept, as distinct from the entrenched secretive, spin modified, half baked compromised way it has grown to presents itself. Some straightforward honesty and reasonable openness would raise the credibility of our current management and the club generally. I struggle with trying to understand what the AFC has become

We're no different to how we were under Trigg. The club still treats supporters with disdain if they question a decision that was made.

No chance Roo gets rid of Bird, won't happen. 2 options

1. Bird is promoted into the newly created and very important role of General Manager Special Sports Science Stuff.

McKay is brought in to fill the lowly and not particularly special role GM of Football Ops

2. Bird remains in the very special and important role of GM Football Ops

McKay is brought in to fill the newly created and not very special role of GM of Stuff related to football that Bird is too important to do.

Isn't Harper GM of Footy Ops? Or is it GM of Footy Admin. It's hard to keep on top of the GMs, they proliferate at an amazing rate.

Burton had to know that one of his main jobs in that press conference was to explain, very clearly, the hamstring curse, and what steps we’ve taken to fix it.

Instead he looked at the reporter like she’d just asked him to donate a kidney, and Pyke had to jump in and save his ass.

It’s not just that he wasn’t capable of explaining, it’s that he didn’t think he had to. He acted like he was being doorstopped, not fronting a media conference that his own club had called to clear the air.

And that’s not entirely his fault either. The club called the conference and didn’t even say what it was for, didn’t have Pyke or Burton open the conference with any sort of address about CM or anything else, just had them walk in and stand like there sitting ducks.

I'm sure he had the time to chat to Pyke and formulate a plan of attack. I'm sure our media manager didn't have their phone numbers set on ignore. This is two highly paid people responsible for the direction of an elite sporting team. If they didn't think a strategy to match the occasion was necessary, then that would actually explain quite a lot.

Haven't read all 74 pages , and what I have heard is not corroborated .....but strong message I have been told is that the issue is our indigenous players and Burtons lack of understanding about another culture. The issue is his disrespectful reaction and handling of the stuff that came out of the camp at the time it all happened. Hard to put this in words but in a nutshell he showed that he has no understanding and little respect for indigenous culture ....and may still be blissfully unaware of this even at this moment in time.

What I have heard the issue is not properly resolved in the minds of the impacted parties as yet.

I am a sack Burton voter for what it is worth.

Burton is copping it from every direction with a number of media outlets focused on his poor performance, which has only made the situation worse. The club can’t be oblivious to it all, will they do something about it?
