Because Sloane sucks in finals. Even Mackay has managed 25 disposals in a final.
Let's just call it for what it is. Sloane is a warrior who had got the absolute most out of himself. Busted a gut no doubt. not the most skillful but negates this with effort. Problem is, he's been found out. It's been proven how to negate him now. Too easily nullified. Cash in those chips i say.

Yep, same goes for Lynch.

Agreed.

No they aren’t.

Everything that has come out of that club since the grand final - words and actions - smacks of a coaching group who absolved themselves of the result.

It smacks of a coaching group who thought “There’s no way we could’ve lost that grand final on merit, on talent, on selection, on fitness, on tactics. The players must’ve had a mental breakdown!”

People might’ve bought that, if it wasn’t for 2018 spectacularly exposing who the real ****-ups are.
We have spent the last 18 years having a mental breakdown every time it counts.

2005. 2006. All those home finals lost. 2012. 2016 where we were set for top 4 then inexplicably failed to show up in round 23.

The 2017 grand final was just another example of an entrenched mental weakness in this club which has spanned multiple coaches and captains.

We lost the contested possessions by 30. In the 2nd half as a team we just quit. We gave up. Sloane invisible, Walker invisible, when it counted.

Mental breakdown, and perfectly in character with the prior 18 years.

Clearly the treatment was wrong. But Pyke was correct to make that diagnosis.

I totally used to subscribe to this, but it's illogical and magical thinking.

I wish it wasn't.

We won our two flags with start up concessions.

We recruited poorly for a while in the late 90s/early 2000s.

We've never had a period of being genuinely bad, so we haven't snagged elite talent at the draft since those initial start up concessions. The Judds, Rougheads and Franklins of the world haven't been there for us.

Our father/son allowances failed us miserably. Clubs like West Coast and Geelong had big gets out of those.

Those things have been much more decisive in our results in recent years than a magical disease transcending generations of players and coaches.

But cripes if we'd just had the balls to select Myles Poholke ahead of Andy Otten last year, we'd have flag number three in the cabinet.

Ok.

Why the hell does Pyke have to front up and take some of the heat for Burton's mess?

It's pretty much a given that this whole press conference is going to be a farce.

I hate to break it to people, but all it's going to be is them both sitting there lying, deflecting and covering up about the camp and Burton's fitness program.

Are you ****** in the head?

They completely redesigned the pre season.

They brought in new machines to push the boundaries with soft tissue.

They came up with a camp no one had ever remotely tried before to try to find a mental edge for their players.

They brought in Bryce Gibbs.

They've changed about twelve different set-ups with how we transition the ball from d50, no doubt in reaction to the breakdowns in the Grand Final.

Are you paying attention to anything at all?

This is the opposite of absolving responsibility. It's gone pear shaped because they've pushed it too far.

And they've pushed it too far because they have to go the MCG and somehow make up 12 goals as the higher ranked team, because this competition is broken.

Give us back our draft and salary cap concessions and we can draft our Ricciutos and Rehns and trade for our McLeods again and do it no worries!

This bit.

Crows “Start up concession” had nothing to do with McLeod.

From hearing roo on MMM the rub I have lost a lot of respect for him as he spoke that all in past and like all good.
So this conference today will be a PR exercise and now obvious that going to be washed under carpet and Burton who responsible for CM and fitness will be there next year. So so frustrating wished I could become rugby fan or something to longer feel so bad whats happening to my club.

it's too late for explanations and excuses. people have had enough. in my household they have lost 3 generations of supporters.

Mistakes have been made, but I've always been told it's how you rectify them.

So far we've just been told we haven't made any, or the ones we made have been fixed despite mounting contrary evidence.

I'll never jump off, but it's hard to place any faith in any message
