Oh you're a doctor and a brilliant mathematician by the looks of things.
I just reported on what my AFL mate told me. He was like 85% sure it was Beamsy who was doing illicit substances. I didn't mention it before but then it dawned on me. Beams has been injured far to long for just a quad tweak. Wasn't it January he got injured? That would be at least a week after my mate saw him. I than thought that he must have told his club doctor and self reported. He probably isn't on 3 strikes but wouldn't be surprised if he was on 1 or 2 after some of his QLD mates get up to and all. Collingwood might have sent him to some clinic to fix is addiction or something and covered it with an 'injury' that last almost half a year.

Chappy is one that intrigues me. Played the first 4, was named and then a late out in round 5 and hasn't been seen since.

Chris Scott has said he has been at 95% all the time but struggling to get to 100%.

It that were true, he would be a week to week case yet Scott has ruled him out for multiple weeks at a time.

He's old and injury prone so it's likely just the club being overly cautious but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's just a case of them not risking one of their biggest assets when there is zero need to

Wrong, he played NAB cup. Was injured just before round 1. Started training again around 5 and re-injured it.

Geelong have repeated shown an unwillingness to risk any player coming back from soft tissue injuries. Chapman's history is well documented and whilst it might raise eyebrows they club has taken the view they can get by without him and it also gives games to younger players. He won't come back until after the bye now considering their draw, GC, GWS, Bye, then give him limited time against Brisbane.

This is what happens when Vlad decides to run his mouth. Everyone gets second guessed.

Not that it really concerns me that other clubs players are now prone to the same musings that Franklin has endured for most of his career, regardless of whether he's been on the coke or not(the 3 strikes rumours has run about 4 or 5 separate times - even when he's not missed games).

We should all know by now though, that every club has players who like to dabble and take the punt.

Paul Chapman does not seem like the kind of person to use, let alone to this extent.

Then again, Michael Johnson strikes me as someone a little odd rather than someone who likes a party.

Chappy has been around long enough to know not to do that shit. 3 strikes is pretty much exclusively to the 21-25 year olds IMO. Right about that age that they start to cement themselves into the top 22 and can let loose. Doubt any 18-19 year olds would get involved just being introduced to the AFL system etc would make them shit scared to even look at a can of paint.

It's not exclusive to 21-25 year olds, let me tell you. I won't dive too much into it but I've seen a plethora of AFL players looking well and truly off their guts that are over that bracket you mentioned.

That is pathetic. Are they not old enough to realise they have responsibilities? No wonder some clubs have drug cultures when their leaders are all shelving pingers...

I can't believe any Collingwood supporters actually believe Beams quad has been 'injured' for half a year...
Seems strange. Matt Rosa had a quad in the preseason. Got compartment syndrome, had it operated on, did his recovery, played WAFL for 3 weeks and has still been back for three games!

No Beams was all set to play round 1 but did his quad in the warm up and was a late withdraw an hour before the game. Hasn't played since.

If Dayne Beams is really out due to a drugs issue, it's likely that the situation Demetriou alluded to last year is in play (i.e. player with a proper mental health issue due to the use of drugs, club doctor takes the liberty of telling the staff he is unfit to play with a made up injury). In which case, it is really sad that everyone is rabid over "it's a coverup" "Vlad doesn't want his precious image destroyed" "haha 3 strikes". Maybe a players health is at stake and they just want to look after him?

Or maybe he actually is injured with a quad tear! Quad injuries are easy to redo, and two 3-4 week tears can be a dozen weeks with poor management/rehab + a softly softly approach.

It is Buddy. Everyone knows that it is always Buddy.

He got 6 weeks.

But as part of Vlad's cover-up, they made him run around in his team, pretending to play like rubbish.

Ban was up and he kicked 5 last week.

Ban must have been up at half time! He played his part in the suspension very well in the first half against the Suns.

ALL clubs have drug cultures mate, it bewilders me how people still define it as a minority thing. It's wide-spread.

lol at people insinuating it could be Chapman :D

I think given we currently sit top of the ladder at 9-1 (finals and most likely top 4 all but assured), why risk anyone who may be prone to injury?

Chapman may as well sit back for the next couple of months, rest up and get set for finals footy when the real shit begins :thumbsu:

Ben Cousins board?

(rubbish thread, by the way)

To be honest, I got him in fantasy and have watched him sit on the sidelines for 3 months with a "quad" injury, and have thought this could be the reason. However, I just feel like with all the sniping etc. from the media, the AFL would be wishing for a sacrificial lamb to drag over the coals to highlight their tough stance on drugs.

They only do this to interstate clubs.

The AFL would never to the same thing to a big Victorian club, some of those Presidents can over react
some and say silly things you know.o_O

I 'pulled' my quad two seasons ago in about round 8 - I ended up missing the rest of the season and could not run freely even over half a year later. Over a year later and it would still give me grief during games from time to time. It was originally diagnosed as a 4 week injury too.

Having said that - during the course of my rehab for this injury I found out I had a bad back issue which compounded things/set it all off in the first place. Point is though a quad injury could keep you out of action for a fair while.
