If you believe Barrett he had confirmation from the club that Kennett made a comment to Shannyn which he says was a joke but she didn't find funny. Also has confirmation that the matter has been settled and Kennett apologized and it was't the cause of Cyril retiring from football

I didn't see Barrett's report, but I was under the impression that Kennett and the club wouldn't comment, which is to be expected.

Dean has also said that tweet wasn't from him, that his account was hacked and that the post also got it wrong calling Cyril his nephew when they are cousins.

Look there could be more to the story but Kennett isn't the Hawthorn footy club and it is unlikely we will get more than what Barrett has covered, at least in the short tem

Yes. People are stupid. Probably not the case here though although it could of contributed.

Why wouldnt hawthorn get cyril to agree to take a year off and they can make a decision then rather then retire immediately. Hostility with the admin would be a reason.

Kennett must have made a previous comment to Cyril's missus back in 2016 because he cleaned out his locker at the end of that season too!

It is correct that Cyril wanted to play in Burgers milestone and was told no, but the reason there is pretty obvious. I believe that bought forward his departure to now and not seasons end.

It's not a conspiracy. It's a rumour on a rumour board that's being speculated and talked about.
Who would hack Dean Rioli's twitter account? Who would refer to him as his nephew?
It's very plausible that Dean's father posted something from Dean's phone. It's also plausible that with a 12 year age gap, Dean thinks of himself more like an uncle to Cyril than a cousin.
I just don't buy the 'hacked' argument. It's the instant fallback when someone gets called out for posting something they shouldn't have and is very rarely an actual hack.
With that in mind, I put more credence into Dean's post, which therefore backs up that there's more to this rumour. I might be wrong. I'm happy to be proven wrong. I find this rumour interesting, and sad and unfortunate if true, but it won't destroy my world if undisputed proof ends up making it false.
