Massive day for the oggers tomorrow. Good side in so no excuses.

Cracking final round with the relegation battle and the grudge match between OM and SMD given harper's comments about the panthers after their last meeting.

Should be very interesting!

Thanks to the people behind the VAFA website for elevating the Reds 2s into second on the ladder. What a cruel, cruel joke. It wasn't until the Scribe informed me that they had given us the points by accident against OGs yesterday that I was brought down to earth. At 915pm, the ladder still shows us with a double-chance next week just to taunt me !

Oh well, looks like we are going to just have to knuckle down and get there the long way.

All day I've been thinking about having a double chance and a shot at OG again this week only for you to break this to me.

Oh well, OM will have to get past the Sth Melboune curse.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, teams who play Sth Melbourne seem to lose the next week, it stands at 6 wins and 12 loses for the year.

Almost fell for the same one map, but upon quick investigation realised that OG's footballing efforts outweighed their administrative ones on the weekend.

Pity we (Reds) were looking at what might have been, not what we're actually faced with.

All there to play for now.

Wal.

Ugly, HBP & co..... let me be the first to wish you all the best in C Section next year. Would love to be there to roll out the welcome mat, but I'm hoping we'll have B Section matters to attend to in 2009.

Come on ugly..... NOBS this week would be the last of your worries.

Finals are a different game Micky (as you know!). We'll just continue on with what we have been doing.

Should be a cracking game between OG and OM's. Both have been playing some decent footy.

Good luck to the Rovers mate, knock off Rupo this week for the double chance (You'll guys should enjoy playing at Junction and sandy as well). Just tell big Duddy to keep running off his wing...LOL

OM's will be looking to get the monkey off their back after a goal in the last few seconds of the 2nd semi and a hiding in the prelim final. Especially given OG's overran them in the last quarter a few weeks ago. Whoever gets through Sunday's game would be pretty confident of a C Section berth the following week.

Who poses the biggest threat to a BT premiership? I think I had OM's before a ball was bounced to win it with OG to finally play to their potential and BT a smokey.

Hi Uncle Mick, recent form suggests OMs is a serious premiership threat. Whilst BT deserve some favouritism going into finals for their efforts over the whole season - a closer inspection of results over the last nine rounds suggests that OMs are in fact the team to beat. The ladder for the last nine rounds only is: -

OLD MENTONIANS 8 903 733 123.19
BULLEEN TEMP 6 851 634 134.23
OLD GEELONG 6 902 697 129.41
FITZROY REDS 6 711 682 104.25
PENINSULA 5 726 773 93.92
NOBS/ST PATS 4 803 839 95.71
STH MELB DIST. 3 871 894 97.43
AQUINAS 3 700 807 86.74
YARRA VALLEY 2 703 903 77.85
PRAHRAN 2 642 850 75.53

Good luck to all teams competing this weeks and especially to Coach McGee with his nightmares

Cing no ones mentioned it I thought I better, what a performance by Aquinas to avoid relegation 3 games behind with 3 to play, down by 3 goals at 3/4 time 3 weeks ago fought back to knock Yarra off, then knocked off the form side in OG's last week before claiming Prahrans spot in D1 by accounting for them on Saturday "AMAZING".Look out D1 next year.

very good effort by the boys from Ringwood. Add to that list a great game V

BT. Could easily have on that game too.
Any truth to the rumour of one Andy Cultrera heading home next season? There alone is as good as any reason to get the heck out of D grade.....

Some compelling evidence to suggest McGee's boys might be the team to beat.
What do we make of NOBS in all this. As someone from a different grade, but in a similar predicament to NOBS, I'm still pretty confident of where we're headed. Whilst a 9-0 start was an ideal platform, many of the knockers see us as less of a threat to the C Section finals. What many of those fail to realise is we had a favourable draw in the first half of the season. Of the 5 losses after the halfway mark 4 of those were to 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th on each of their respective dungheaps. The only other loss being to MHSOB who were in white hot form.
I haven't looked at the draw, but can the same be said for NOBS or have they seriously tapered off?

having played against both OM's and OG in the past few weeks it's my opinion that OG are a bit better. their style of play is well suited to finals footy too. i hope OG win too coz they're far better blokes.

in my opinion who ever wins between OG and OM will take the flag, they're both a level above BT and NOBs.

NOBS definitely played more of the top 5 teams away in the 2nd half. I think home ground advantage has been pretty solid this year, which means neutral grounds will really sort out the wheat from the chaff.

For mine the finals will go this way:

2nd semi: BT d NOBS
1st semi: OGGs d OMs
PF: OGGs d NOBS
GF: BT d OGGs

Scribe - I agree with your finals predictions. BT has a good record against OGs am sure Dermie & Co would relish the opportunity to play them in the grand final, more so than playing OM or NOBs again.

In the Reserves grade, I think Fitzroy are the best team and may benefit from not having their Seniors playing finals.

Mad Monday yesterday Frase? Anything to report? (Anything you can report?:D)

Mad Monday yesterday Frase? Anything to report? (Anything you can report?:D)

Nup - I had a whopping 2 beers at home on Saturday night and certainly steered clear of any pubs in the inner north. Heard there was little by way of a 'wake' from the senior boys as they're waiting until the reserves season finishes.

Hopefully it'll be 3 more weekends away.

If anything, I'm trying to work out whether anyone from the Panthers will go up/down for this week. Otherwise, I'm getting the match-ups sorted as we speak. Never had a season before when the reserves made finals and the seniors didn't, so it'll be funny at training tonight and Thursday.

Hopefully it'll be a positive and means we can all focus better on the tasks in front of us. We're certainly going to need it!!!

How do you plan on doing that Frase? Will we find you hiding in the bushes spying on training tonight out at Keysy?

any thoughts on the panthers chance of making c grade? is teasdale the x factor, thats why they recruited him, to get them there, so alot of pressure on him. good to see the two beauy boys playing finals after being delisted last yr by th sharks?

Panthers would be a good chance of making C grade although suspect that they are aiming higher than just making the GF. Are you guys looking for a pump up or something? I have already stated a few posts above that I think they are the team to beat. I am sure all teams in D1 would have Teasdale - he is a very good player - nevermind his detractors. There is no more pressure on him than any of the other 87 players going around in D1 seniors this weekend. Couldn't really give a rats ___ about delisted players now playing finals.... hardly a fairy tale.
