In the Reserves grade, I think Fitzroy are the best team and may benefit from not having their Seniors playing finals.

Can someone tell me what the rules are for Reserves finals eligibility ? When I was playing, I'm pretty sure it was no more than 8 games in the Seniors and at least 4 in the Reserves.

If that's still the case, I don't think that the Reds will get anyone back of any note. Looking at the VAFA website that is.

Scribe, can you enlighten us on who might get back in the side this week ?

How do you plan on doing that Frase? Will we find you hiding in the bushes spying on training tonight out at Keysy?

Boris - Did anyone see that bloke hitting practice balls in the dark on the Southern GC fairway adjoining your training ground at about 6.15pm? He seemed to be marking a card after every botched pitching wedge. :p

No idea about the condition of Alec Gillon's oval, but I attempted to walk across Central Reserve about an hour ago, and only Gary Ablett Jnr would've been able to do so.

Kinda reminded me of Brad Pitt's breakthrough movie from 1992 "A River Runs Through It".

BYO snorkles and flippers for this weekend's games.

Blade, you've got way too much time on your hands! Better tell Dowds to hurry up and get you some work!

Sorry Stevo...

Wal.

Wal - the ground is only 10-15 minutes away from the delightful Dandenong Magistrates Court (where I spent the bulk of today).

Just remember, team managers (and runners) are highly expendable come finals time.

so wats everyones tips for this weekend?

it seems form would suggest BT in a canter, i think they'll get over the line but it'll be much closer than everyone thinks.

OG will have the better of OM. they chocked last time and will do so again.

who's everyones tips for the b&f? it seems pietryk and edmonds are always in the bests, rees is in 15 out of 17 games but i cant remember him and penin probs havent won enough.

Tips:

OM - in form and last time against OG was only a hiccup. should be cracker game. winner can expect to head to C grade.
BT - to relish opportunity of playing finals again and beat out of form Nobs.

paul florance for B & F

bring your umbrellas to the games folks.

Haven't heard anything from my namesake about selections for the 2s yet, but I think the Reds would have to improve somewhat to beat OMs. The Panthers smashed them last time around.

As for the 1s, I like NOBs to go straight back up to C Grade, and Old Geelong to beat OMs.

I'm gonna go NOBS in an upset on Saturday and OMs to get payback for the last qtr fade out last time round.

I like Florance for the B&F too. Bevan 2nd and Rombotis to snag 3rd with a heap of votes from rounds 10 to 18.

BT just over Nobs.
OM's just over Oggers.

After the unfortunate injury to Greenham in the state game, Florance is clearly the best player in the grade (apologies to Cochy and Branigan) and will win the B&F (Pietryk will do well also).

I reckon Tim Davis from Fitz is probably close to best player in the comp, but only played a handful of games. Meighan from Fitz is also right up there. I'd have Keem ahead of Branigan, along with a fair few others.

NOBS by 5 points over BT

OM by 21 points over OGGS

BT by 45 points next week over OM

BT and NOBs in the GF... due for a draw?????

Slow work day today, so here's the D1 team of the year at the half way mark just to spark a bit of debate that's not related to Scribe and Harps' flirting or Old Mentonian boys talking cryptic nonsense.

B: Malpas (OG) Hosking (NOBS) Tehan (BT)
HB: Thompson (OM) Fairbairn (OG) Savage (YV)
C: Rees (Pen) Florance (BT) Villarosa (SM)
HF: Adams (NOBS) Cochrane (OM) Cheevers (SM)
F: Greenham (Pra) Keem (YV) Matthews (BT)
FOLL: Meighan (Fitz) Beven (Pra) Gleeson (Fitz)
INT: Barker (NOBS) Biggs (Fitz) Casboult (OG) Cherbakof (BT)

Rip into it all you like...

A few changes from Corey's effort at the half-way mark for the team fo the year, just to give the bloke in the record a bit of help and for something to talk about.

OUT: Greenham, Barker, Casboult, Cheevers, Cherbakof, Thompson
IN: Rombotis, Pietryk, Long, Branigan, Den Braber, McClosky

Seb Mahoney from SMD would have to be in that side. he's been our best player and will win the B'nF by a streak.

R.Ball from the Old Mentonians has doninated on the wing on at least 12 occasions this year. Very underrated player. Surprised that he isnt in the side.

Unfortunately its difficult to get to all matches played so I probably only got to see him doninate once or twice this year. Maybe you can email the D1 scribe and noninate him for the official team of the year?
